Rhosneigr, Anglesey: Sunset Photography

  • Join me for some landscape photography in Rhosneigr, Anglesey, and a sunset "Park & Shoot".
I thought it was about time my landscape photography channel featured another in my occasional "Park & Shoot" series. This is where the location is no more than 50 metres from the parking so that photographers with mobility issues can still get opportunities for some good landscape locations. In this one I'm on a west facing beach at Rhosneigr on Anglesey for a summer sunset. The tide was dropping off with about an hour to go before the sun was due to set so I was hopeful of some good light and some wet, rippled sand to work with.
Link to my website with full res images from this video: dgriff.gallery/101-landscape-p...
Also, if you'd like to learn more about the Anglesey, Snowdonia and North Wales places I visit for my landscape photography, you can see full details on my website in my Location Guides section at: dgriff.gallery/location-guides/.
I find I’m being asked more and more often about the equipment I use. As I’ve typed up countless replies and links and lists for friends and viewers, I’ve now set it all out definitively here: dgriff.gallery/equipment/.

I think your "Park and Shoot" series is a brilliant feature of your channel. As a wheelchair user I can really understand what this means to your less able viewers and as I'm in your neck of the woods in two weeks time I'll be trying some of them out! Thanks for your continuing work David.

Yes Park and shoot is a good idea, and those square pictures were really nice to look at, you took us to another location which with a little thought you can get some lovely pictures, I liked your suggestion that we may see fewer pictures but ones which you like better will be the ones you take and save......Thank you for sharing your sunsets with us.......

I searched for this video, David - thought you must have one for the beautiful Rhosneigr. Have only visited Anglesey once and that was in 1979 and the only photo I have from that holiday is a picture of me, sitting on that beach with my two sons, eating a picnic. Lovely memories of a beautiful place. I admire your patience - something I really have to learn! It certainly pays off here with some beautiful images that I absolutely know I would have missed. Looking out for you on Youtogs :)

I appreciate the "park and shoot" series. My wife is no longer mobile enough to hike with me so it often comes down to leaving her at home or in the truck for several hours. The park and shoot idea has inspired me to look for those opportunities. The images in this one were all nice but I really enjoyed the penultimate photo in this one. Just the wisp of cloud on the left side of the sky really balanced the image.

Hi David. Really pleased that your perseverance paid off. To paraphrase Gary Player "the more I practice, the luckier I get" and that was definitely the case here for you. You knew exactly what you were looking for and got your reward. Love the way the light caught the grains of sand in the sunset image - beautiful !! I must admit I've always struggled to get a decent composition at this location but you've squeezed every ounce out of the place with your images. Really enjoyed the video David. Many thanks for sharing.

I belive that is the beach I visited when I was in Anglesey... I don't recall seeing any boats sadly which I think helped your shoot. Loved the shot of the boat with Llyn Penisular in the background, great work picking up the detail in the distant hills.. Tfs and thanks for the info last evening - hope the weather picks up for the trip.

Ah well, it was a but shoddy though to completely miss focus. The light had dropped completely and I didn't realise the camera was really struggling. The lesson, of course, is to watch the footage back rather than taking a chance that it's all okay 😀👍

So sorry to be so slow coming back to you, I've been really busy over the last few days since I published this video. Your question is a really good one, and I think my answer might be beneficial to a number of people. I have a Q and A video coming out before much longer, so if I may cover it on that for you 😀👍
