Photography at Cable Bay, Anglesey

  • In another of my occasional Park & Shoot series landscape photography locations, I'm at an Anglesey beach with great views from the car park. And walking just a very short distance onto the sand offers the landscape photographer all the standard coastal / beach photography subjects. It is also a great location for sunset photography. Especially in late winter and late autumn where the sun sets into the sea.
    The beach is known locally as Cable Bay, but is on maps under its historical name of Porth Trecastell. It is easily accessible alongside the A4080 between Rhosneigr and Aberffraw on the south west coast of Anglesey. There is plenty of parking, but be aware that, as you'd expect, it gets very busy during the main holiday season. But if you time your visit carefully you can enjoy some solitude and it is a highly recommended landscape photography location.

    Another great video and lovely location, one of many in your series from which I have learned a great deal. You are probably aware that polarisers have their greatest effect when used perpendicular to the direction of sunlight and are not very effective used directly into the sun.

      @DGriffGallery  Před 5 lety +1

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  Před 5 lety

      Thanks a lot, Kevin. I do quite like the long exposure myself, but of course it's good to mix it up and there are times when it works sometimes when it doesn't. The later shots were very much about the textures and colours in the sky. And I didn't feel that a long exposure would really have added anything to it. 😀👍

      Loving the Pocket - everything is so easy and stress free. I always want to get the best possible footage (A & B) and this thing is completely point and shoot with minimal faffing and great quality and silky smooth. With on-board audio life is quick and easy in the edit. So I can concentrate on the stills. I am going to be out for a big hike tomorrow and should be able to easily knock out x3 vlogs - great recommendation from Mr Day 😀👍

    Hi David. First shots were lovely, sunset ones nice but lacking focal point(s) of interest. BTW a Polarizer doesn't work when facing into the sun, the sun needs to be at the side of the camera.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  Před 5 lety

      Fair comment about the first couple of shots, Ray, but I was looking at the lights and textures in those so I was prepared to tolerate the fact there was no emphatic point of interest, beyond a couple of oystercatchers which were prepared to stick around for a twenty second exposure!! Oh, and yes I should have been more specific about the CPL. In the segment I was referring to shooting down the stream which was that about right angles to the sun that time. 😀👍

      Hi Jeff - yes as a series it's gone down really well. I guess there are a lot of people who assume that my locality being quite wild and rugged means that it's always necessary to be relatively physically capable to get to be epic locations. And as I hope to demonstrate, that's not entirely the case. 😀👍
