  • This video shows how I repaired the wiper stalk on my 2005 w203 c220 cdi mercedes.
the wipers only worked intermittently and the stalk needed to be wiggled to get the wiper to work.

The information I really needed you edited out. I need to see how to get the end cap off of the wiper stalk. Thank you for showing the rest of the details though.

Sorry about that. As far as I can remember you can just twist and pull it for it to clip of from the main part. Other wise, looking where the catches are just take a very small flat screw driver and carefully pry it off on side at a time.

I agree, this is the essential part. Otherwise, super helpful video.

I found another video where the cap is prised off by using a small screwdriver to push at each tabs inside each of the four faces: czcams.com/video/nkcS1kjtmpg/video.html

Hello, useful video. In my case first the push function for the water pump stopped working, after a while, when pushing the pump it activates a high speed wiper, now I lost all wiper functionality. With diagnostic though I can activate the wiper and the pump. I'm thinking of giving it a try with your repair or replacing the whole switch.

How does the end piece ( cap come off). Why did you take the end piece off when it's a wire thats broken? How would you fix the snapped blue wire.
Have same issue with my sprinter wiper switch. Hoping to fix it without removing the arm...This is the only video I found on the subject, thanks

See one of the earlier comments down below...
I removed the cap in order to pull the wire out to fix them. So I cut the broken wire 'n bit shorter to join it in 'n place where it would not have to flex... other wise it would break just next to the joint next time.

Tried this because of all the wires were broken. Broke 1 plastic clip which i suspect leading to the chip not staying in place correctly. I didn't get any function apart from turn signal. Luckily new part was reasonable price considering the complexity (170 € incl. tax)

Konum I-II-III çalışmıyor ama su püskürtüp siliyor. Eğer kolda kopuk yok ise tellerin devamı EZS ye bağlı. EZS analog sinyali çevirip can H ve Can L ye iletir.

Hello. what was the final cause of the issue? A broken wire? Mine isn't unable to operate the wiper, I can make them move only by pushing the water ejection button, but neither of the three stalk rotating positions react. I diagnosed with iCarsoft and the all the controls (side markers, high beams, pushbutton, etc.) work and are correctly read by the ICM, except for the rotating wiper speed control, si I am positive that the failure is in the stalk itself.

Your problem is exactly the same as mine, and I'll quickly explain why. The rotation function for wiper speed is one function, it uses the black and blue wire if I remember correctly. The push function is for the wiper washer function and uses the black and white wire I think. It actuates the wipers and the washer pump. The way these signals are sent through is by meaning of a specific resistance value.
Your blue wire is broken off exactly like mine was. The reason behind this is simply the flex in the wire in a specific location over time, with fatigue in the inside strands and the casing causing it to eventually break.
      Hope this makes sense.

@@willemtreurnicht3818 Thanks, that's very very useful. My stalk is not original (purchased it through Aliexpress 1 year ago to replace the original one, that didn't latch at the right side marker), so the wire colors may vary. Is the broken wire visible/repairable?

    • @willemtreurnicht3818
      @willemtreurnicht3818  Před 2 lety

@@ssanmor if you lightly pull on them then the broken one will come out... You can also test the stalk with a multi meter. Setting one and two has a certain resistance value while setting 3 is a short circuit. Can't remember exactly which pins. If you watch the full video it should be relatively clear what to do and check...
