After watching magnificent century 1 & 2, I realized Hurrem Sultan and Hafsa Sultan was the best female Sultan out of all them. No matter what because they are just royal to Sultan Suleiman. And also Sultan Suleiman was the great and brave and love Sultan of all time, except killing her son Mustafa. I mean I like Hurrem Sultan, but her son doesn’t have the ability to take care of the dynasty.
Kosem was power greedy, once time she started war with Safiye Sultan without reason, same history Turhan stared war with no reason & Turhan win like kosem against Saiye Sultan, i admire that Kosem was powerful women who rules the Dynasty, Safiye Sulan & Turhan also ruled but Kosem Ruled lonly & bravely.
Safiye and Turhan ruled with their children /family...kosem the crazy murdered all her family to rule /and died alone.
That was no “victory.” That was a massacre.
No there wasn't any massacre, as Kösem didn't revolt so there wasn't any janessari at that time, only Kösem and her servants was executed.
As ppl at that time didn't see any corpse of janessari and it was haram to spill blood in imperial harem.

Well as you know she had to get rid of all her rivals one way or the other and unfortunately all her rivals she had to kill or or her sons rule would always be in doubt and there would always be a relative to try to usurp the throne
Every brave queen deserve the ring of hurrem 😍
OMG you are right that is hurrem's ring which was made by Suleiman himself.
Happy
You mean the ring that Hurrem wanted to be buried with in the show because it's a symbol of love and not a symbol of power? The same ring that Nurbanu decided to have her servant grab from Hurrem's corpse before it was buried and turn it into a symbol of power?
The same ring that in real life, was a symbol of love and not a symbol of power?

I wish you can post the last goodbye between Kösem and kemankes 💔
This marked the beginning of the fall of the Ottoman empire although not till in the 19th century.
*20th century. The 1900's was part of the 20th century. We are the 21st century.
Man seeing this the fact that women hold so much power before women rights was even created just makes me feel proud i just hope they really were as strong in real life history as their shown in the show
what's the ost played during kemankes' death?
The Ring goes to the next powerfull sultan
I knew this was coming, but still it was very hard to watch
The foundation of all of this and what followed, was set many years earlier by Sultan Suleiman, when he had Ibrahim Pasha executed. That started the set of events, leading to the execution of Shehzade Mustapha and consequently the ascension to the throne of the worse of the lot, Selim.
Ibrahim dug his own grave. You don't call yourself "the second sultan," and expect yourself to live, ESPECIALLY when the *real* Sultan you are blaspheming is Suleiman the Magnificient. Ibrahim's corruption has nothing to do with the Sultanate of Women. Nor did it truly start with Hurrem. She may have received unprecedented privileges but she didn't get the level of power her successors did, because her successors had a string of weak and inefficient Sultans to take advantage of. Hurrem never became Valide. What she got was the trappings of a Western Queen due to a combination of the genuine love she shared with Suleiman AND Suleiman's own political ambitions.
Hurrem's show is 5% fact at 95% fiction. Kosem's is probably 20% fact and 80% fiction.
The worse of the lot would have been Bayezid, not Selim. Bayezid had an impulsive temper that would have damaged the Ottoman Empire immensely if he was Sultan.
Absolute power corrupts Absolutely.
The ottoman dynasty conquered many lands but it came at a high price.
Turhan never killed kosem in reality, it was statesmen with Suleiman agha who done it, Turhan is innocent. The reason is simply kosems arrogance for not letting her grandson rule and not teaching him how to rule, it has nothing to do with Turhan, nobody defeated kosem.
im sorry but ur half wrong Turhan blamed Kosem for Ibrahim’s death and she wanted to end her rule to protect Mehmed. so technically it was turhan who ordered for her to be killed .

Acoording to some Turhan Sultan killed Kosem Sultan but some say that it was Sulteiman aga and statesman as they wanted Sultan Mehmet to rule instead of any other grand child. According to me it was Turhan bcuz she is considred last powerful sultana and she was indulged in politics so it was her and why wouldnt she want her son to not rule which meant his death . I actually hated Turhan for that but with time i realized that she did what she had to otherwise Kosem could have killed Mehmet and thrown Turhan out. She was the new Kosem Sultan for me....
In real life, Turhan protected Ibrahims other children after his death too. She put an end to fratricide.
finally her end came, Sultan Murad was a good ruler
If only Sultans Suleiman and Ahmed had left Hurrem Sultan and Kossem alone and let Them live in peace in Their homelands
I totally agree with you.
I know, right? Especially poor Hurrem, Leo treated her soo much better!
@@marishkaspirit In real life Suleiman practically worshipped Hurrem. After being introduced to her, Suleiman came to love her so much he dismissed his entire harem. None of the flings that happened on the show happened in real life. Once Suleiman married Hurrem, he was completely faithful to her and never took another woman in bed even after she died. And Hurrem was an essential part in establishing peace between the Ottoman Empire and Eastern Europe. The King of Poland (her native homeland) and her were very close and worked together to being allies. Which stopped the Ottomans from getting further into Europe than they already had.

@@paslaruflorin-alexandru9088 Technically speaking, the main reason for the instability and the rise of Sultanate of Women is the clash of the Turkic tradition, Islamic law and the change from nomadic to settled civilization had on the culture of the Ottoman, more so on the custom on succession.
Before the Sultanate of Women, the Sultan does not legally marry with any member of his harem as doing so risk giving favour to any of the tribes in their empire. The women of the harem is legally slaves whose main purpose is the creation of an heir. This change during the time of Suleiman the Magnificent when he officially marry Hurrem Sultan and the creation of the Imperial Harem, which eventually lead to the rise of Kizlar Agha (Chief Black Eunuch) and the Sultanate of Women.
It basically destroy the administrative status quo where previously the Sultan deal directly with the administrative arms through the Grand Vizier but now it was done through the intermediary of the Kizlar Agha, who was also responsible for the Imperial Harem and also technically a subordinate of the Valide Sultan who are the leader of the Imperial Harem.
Basically, before its Sultan>Grand Vizier>Vizier, now its Sultan>Kizlar Agha>Grand Vizier>Vizier, simply because all communication between the Sultan are now handled via the Kizlar Agha. Due to the job of Kizlar Agha as the steward of the Imperial Harem, the women of the Harem now have an indirect link to the administrative arm of the empire and have historically used the support of the Kizlar Agha to control the empire to the point that it became common knowledge among the European diplomats at the time that if they want to get anything done, all they need is to gain the support of the Valide Sultan.
Added to this is the nomadic tradition that the Ottoman retain in their practice of succession, the incompatibility of it to the new informal arrangement cause the position of Valide Sultan to be the most powerful in the empire, second only to the Sultan when it should have been the Grand Vizier. This cause the rivalry between the women of the harem to take centrestage in the power struggle of the empire. Basically, if they fail to become Valide Sultan or gain her favour, they should consider themselves would be lucky to be exiled to the Eski (Old) Palace because the alternative is death for themselves and their kids.
Due to all these factors, the administrative arms are themselves are divided with the Grand Vizier usually at odds with the Valide Sultan, the Sultan swinging their support between both (I mean, you can't really fight against your own mother) and the Kizlar Agha practically become the power behind the conflict.
The Janissaries themselves are not blameless but in the bigger picture, they are merely pawn to the powers above. If they want to retain or expand their privileged position, they will need pick a side in the power struggle.
