Went to a few Mavs games on the floor. He's huge, thick, physical. He creates space, has sick handles and a beautiful stroke. He even gets on the boards. Only negative is that he doesn't play D.

My fave is Nikola Jokic. Been watching basketball since 1967, but stopped watching the NBA for a bit when "super-teams" became a thing. Joker brought me back. Luka is a nice player, but Jokic is just different. He has a different philosophy, and he doesn't so much play the game as the game flows through him. If Luka could check his ego, he might earn the regular season MVP award. Let Kyrie have all of the ego...
luka complaining to refs is what separate jokic and him, jokic gets his emotions in checked.

if dallas decide to build a real team around luka and not trading all their defense for another guard like they did last season luka will get them to a final like he almost did in 2022
So far Luka is a failure. He was the MVP of the Euroleague at 18. Nobody came close to it.
Everybody exepcted him to play the European way, to be like Jokic but just way more talented.
Instead once he saw that with NBA rules, scoring is easy, he become the most American player ever.
Huge usage rate, 20+ seconds of dribbling, shooting low percentage step back threes while 15 second left on the shotclock, crying and complaining and unable to play with other high level players. Eventually he will end up like similar American players, maybe he will get an MVP, maybe a couple of scoring titles, but he will not compete for the title often.
Luka was and never has been the problem. If the front office did a better job surrounding him with actual talent he would not have to carry the team on his back so much. He handles the ball so much because he efficiently created offense as the quarterback of the team. He will always break down the defense and sombody will be open. its just a matter of hitting the shots at that point. Kyrie I think will work well with him this upcoming season now that they have better defense and talent after the offseason. Kp never worked btw bc he was literally always injured and that kp trade hampered Dallas's ability to trade for other talent since they sent so many 1st rounders to New York. Kp also hardly played well on his own anyways, not bc of luka but would just miss shots and not back down shorter guards when he posted up. There was a reason why him and luka didnt get along and it wasnt bc luka ball hogged since he never has truly done that.
