What’s the Bruce Almighty movie about?
Bruce Nolan’s (Jim Carrey from The Truman Show and Yes Man) career in TV has been stalled for a while, and when he’s passed over for a coveted anchorman position, he loses it, complaining that God is treating him poorly. Soon after, God (Morgan Freeman from Million Dollar Baby and Invictus) actually contacts Bruce and offers him all of his powers if he thinks he can do a better job. Bruce accepts and goes on a spree, using his new-found abilities for selfish, personal use until he realizes the prayers of the world are going unanswered.

Well he didn't make him choose anything. I think free will in this context is depicted as the freedom of choice. He controlled him in a short window but didn't make any life choices for him like who he loves. Fast and loose rules of course.
The way that Steve just goes completely off the chain whilst keeping those deadpan professional newsreader eyes fixed on the camera the whole time, and the way you can see the abject terror in his face when he knows he has absolutely no control over himself or his situation are criminally underrated bits of acting.
He pulled off the same act again in Anchorman.
There are some outtakes of Catherine Bell losing it while he babbles.
His female “co-presenter” was very good as well. She was really “shocked”

This scene has aged so well because there's no CGI, its all in acting and interpretation.
Starting from Steve's great acting, synchronized with Jim Carrey's charisma, and "Bruce's" (the character) intention of embarrassing Evan.

We humans are simple beings. Although he might have those powers he is still a human with emotions and thoughts. God is omnipresent and has basically mastered these powers. He doesn’t have to think as he already has thought of the past present and future. Bruce on the other hand still can’t comprehend all these powers and might not even think of half of them.
Just goes on to show that it's impossible. Literally God can't do it.

Honestly, the best part for me is at 1:23: the fact that Steve can keep a straight face here, read his notes, acknowledges "oh that's what I'm supposed to say" and then burst into a second wave of gibberish is one of the best comedy sketches in movie ever. The entire scene is gold, but his steadfast nature makes this ten times better.

The fact that this was so early in his career that he was credited as "Steven Carell" is crazy. It's a minor role, but you can see that he's obviously a master comedic actor, even at this point.

Turns out, it had landed on his ear lobe, & when Mary arrived & saw it, she thought it was hair gel, reached over & took it with her hand, & then ran her fingers up through her bangs. The next scene, they're at dinner & we can see Ted looking upwards a couple of times. When the camera then focuses on Mary, her bangs were stiff & standing straight up. ~ The title of this clip/scene is "There's Something About Mary, hair gel scene 1998 in HD" & it's on the 'ThinLion Films' CZcams channel. The casting director was God for real.
In the deleted scene, Bruce set Evan’s hair on fire and made his nose bleed. If they added that clip in this scene and put one more f bomb in the movie, than Bruce Almighty would’ve been rated R
