Expecting Mitchell to be able to play a game with the same reflexes he had when he was 17 is as pants on head retarded as expecting Sugar Ray Leonard to be able to step into a boxing ring and take on a 20 year old like he could do in his prime!
What needs to happen is TWIN GALAXIES SHOULD BE BANNED and someone else should be in charge of the records, simple as that. Mitchell and others sent Polaroids to Twin Galaxies which is how they set their records in the first place...and Twin Galaxies through them all out in the 90s. I'm sorry but they had one damn job and they fucked it up so Twin Galaxies? Shouldn't be keeping scores for anything anymore.
Tbf he did get his DK score live on Twitch, so afaik that one is legit, but maybe you didnt mean DK specially. I agree tho. He should just move on now.
If only he spent more time trying to beat his old record and less on the legal system.

@@thevgdb It is important to have strict standards for cheaters. This is why Lance Armstrong was stripped of everything he accomplished, and why others like him should face that same punishment. Billy abused his status as a record holder to hold onto the title under false pretenses. Had he a been a nobody, he wouldn't have been able to lie and cheat. It's appropriate to effectively remove his status entirely as he forfeited credibility in favor of fame.

Also, no, there's no cost to submit to Twin Galaxies. All you need is an account, and your evidence videos to convince people you earned the score you claim. And yes, that evidence sticks around with the score, so any record in the last 4 years or so has videos with the score that anyone can see. No more relying on untrustworthy referees.
Last I recall, you could still use a referee to avoid having to submit video evidence. I recall Triforce Johnson had exploited that to posted some of his scores, as he apparently lived with a TG ref. There have also been people, generally those who've been under allegations of cheating, who have lobbied to be able to keep video evidence private to "protect" their tactics from being "stolen".

@@BainesMkII Nope, not possible any more. There were some people really unhappy about scores not being accepted from a DK tournament, pointing out there were a lot of people present to watch the game and see the machine's settings. But no video, no acceptance.
Heck, even scores that were accepted a couple years ago with CZcams video evidence, but have since had the videos removed, are being removed from the scoreboards.
You don't have to "trust" Twin Galaxies any more. If you doubt a score submitted in the last few years, check the video proof.
@@EvilAng3la Is TG doing anything about cleaning up the old scores a bit better? I remember Jace Hall himself stepping in to squash complaints levied against Triforce, raising the proof of evidence to a pretty much impossible degree. (Once the Triforce controversies were heating up and a lot of flak was again starting to hit TG itself.) Heck, I remember a contested score sitting unchanged for nearly a year even with the person who achieved the score himself saying the recorded score was wrong.
@@BainesMkII That's... complicated. It's getting much better for cleaning out the more obvious bad ones. A whole bunch were just recently taken care of.
Those scores that are hard to convincgly demonstrate are false, TG is still erring on the side of leaving them in. There's a lot of grumbling about that still.
In the end, more users on the site would probably help that the best, as it means more people to dispute scores and provide evidence. But it's that chicken-and-egg thing - as it would probably require more cleanup before more users would join.

there are separated leaderboards for mame and original hardware. His famous donkey kong record has frames in it that are not in the original hardware but are in mame. And when he got a person to verify it...he got caught. And now is trying to sue his ass out of it.

On a side note went to a garage sale today. Older couple had a n64 and 20 games. About 10 of them were ones people want, paper Mario etc. They asked what it was worth and I patted out. Told them to take 10 of the games and Ebay them. Hung out there for 10 mins and told then to clean the pins and told them how to get the magic marker off a game. Gotta be honest to people if they ask.

A couple of states use jury trials for civil cases. I don't know which ones off hand though.
The amount of people including Pat who don't get basic human psyche surprises me. Is it REALLY that hard to get what's going on? Mitchell was a teenager when he walked into the spotlight and spent HIS ENTIRE ADULT LIFE trying to hold onto this spotlight. The moment he started to slip from his throne because his scores were being beaten, he cheated to make sure he stayed on it. Now that he got found out, he's trying everything he can to crawl back onto his throne, because that's what his ego demands. The end.
A friend of mine has a Donkey Kong arcade machine. The CPU speed is modified on MAME and he clearly used it. That's why his video loaded certain stages instantly. MAME runs different CPUs on either Intel or AMD's x86_64, but it's too fast.

Pat are you aware that Twin Galaxies findings in their judgement states that they can not conclude that he played on MAME, they can only state he did not play on a original PCB. That it could be a modified, repaired or whatever board. Now as a arcade player myself, there are many arcade games that are modified and don't have any game play altering or advantages to a player. This is what you guys are not understanding. TG... if you check with their recent statement after this "REQUEST" stated that they never called Billy a cheater nor did they say he played on MAME. Furthermore in TG's 4 hour tape analysis, TG through Jace stated that there were no save states in the game.
A lot of the critique on this topic is based on mis-information. Don't be surprised what's coming shortly...

as someone that has score chased a fair bit I have to say that most recorders are set with ever drives or clone consoles but are said to be set on real original hardware. which its not. And it would be consider cheating ( and it is ) if Billy used them. Everyone just has an unfair bias against Billy and its uncool and it comes from how King of Kong portrayed him.

Sure, the movie was informative, that's how documentaries are meant to be; but also very entertaining because of the supporting cast, relevant to the subject or not.
