Got to meet him last night at a Rangers supporters dinner. An absolute hero and a true Ibrox legend.....one of the nights of my life to be remembered....Willie oh Willie Johnston, Willie Johnston on the wing!
Wee bud was the fastest winger in British football. And I will never forgive the SFA for throwing the wee man under a bus in Argentina 78! Cracking wee guy on and of the pitch.
Joe Boland Yes, a real talent. Could do with him in a Scotland jersey today. S.F.A. A shower of self serving reptiles. An absolute disgrace how they treated Willie Johnstone.
@@jimlogan2329SFA were cowards for sure, so was Ally McCloud, who afterwards kept silent on the whole affair, but the worse were British media, who relished wee Willy getting his career damaged.
Legendary winger who had it all, two footed, lightning quick, tricky and possessed a top class football brain with a bit of feisty attitude to boot. On his day was virtually unplayable!
Another part of my lifelong memories of Albion. This snapshot is a reminder of the what was good, and still is good about my beloved Baggies. We can play lovely football.
He once sold a greenhouse while taking a corner at the Hawthorns. He said in an interview he did it over two games. He heard a fan near the corner flag saying he wanted one and said he had one to sell. At the next home game, when he took a corner at the same spot, he agreed the deal. czcams.com/video/6E-4LBtQySo/video.html . It was a privilege to watch him play. He is still to be seen at games and puts in appearances at club and supporter events.
I remember singing that as a teenager in the Brummie.. I really miss those days...we were on the edge of greatness but Sid Lucas and Bert Millichip lost their nerve...
my only true hero and he got busted on my 11th birthday broke my heart ...................hes faster than than lightnig everyone can see hes faster than thy ...they call him willie willie wee willie jonston everyone can see hes faster than thy
Excellent comment. I feel exactly the same way. I feel very disconnected from Albion now. It's sad because I've been going on and off to the Hawthorns since my dad first took me there as a 4 year old in 1969 (FA cup holders, when that meant something). My boys are both Albion daft because of the family legacy. I, however, no longer identify with this team and its players as it is unrepresentative of me and my kind. We have a couple of players I could get behind, but they are loanees and will be gone before long. The rest are an absolute shower. The BLM kneeling fest is just pathetic. Football in general is doing it's best to alienate its core support.
@@eddabbs8690 totally agree Ed. I did hear that they are going to start standing and not kneeling to show support against racism which I would totally support but kneeling for BLM is totally not my thing. I turned the England game off last night once they did the kneeling thing. Football as changed IMO over the last few years and more so in the last 12 months I completely lost interest. It’s no longer a working class game but just money and political now I fear.
Total legend.. the incident in the world cup ruined him but all us fans love the wee man to bits...
Met Willie at his local in Kirkcaldy. The most modest and unassuming man that you meet.
No stopping the wee man when he was on song.... Willie and Laurie Cunningham unbelievable wingers,,,,,,
Willie, Laurie, Peter ...we always had a magical winger back in the 70's.
Willie,Willie Johnston, Willie Johnston on the wing. Great memories

Dear friends, please indicate band and name of the song. Excellent video!
+Alfonso García The song is called Action Strasse by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band from the album Tomorrow Belongs To Me.
does anybody remember when he pretended to kick the ref up the arse?
Messi is the nearest player to come close to Willie in dribbling skills
Sad that theres not enough footage to fill up a 3 minute single playing
Absolutely unplayable - from an everton fan
Nani
He was waz the bolloks wat a dribbler
