This is a handy and simple way of sealing the end of a plastic tube without the use of an expensive tube sealer. Of course, this is only if you are doing a few tubes, you would not want to do this on a large scale. But at least it's cheap, fast, and works. Before you seal the tube, wipe the inside end clean. A lot of people who want to know how to do this are people who make their own toothpaste. This style of the tube can be found on eBay. The one I am sealing in this video is a 1oz 30ml Plastic Tube. I just put in a wood filler paste [that’s why my fingers are dirty]

Thanks, I was looking for a way to reuse old tubes for other products rather than buying new ones.

Hello Adam, could you tell me how to close off a metal (aluminium) tube without a professional tube crimper? Those are very pricey, and there must be a way how to do that with just, say, a hammer and a regular plier or so?
Background info: I create my own skincare products (for myself and friends, not professionally/not for sale), and those metal tubes are way better in keeping some balm free from bacteria than your standard container.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Kind regards,
    Meri

Hey! I’m trying to this as well, did you figure out how to do it?

@@kellievanellie Hello Kellie, I succeeded with the hammer and regular plier method :) It£s not as beautiful as with a professional tube crimper, but I think it should be closed off enough.
What I do is, I fill up the tube, smash it gently against the table so the creme flows downwards. I leave about half an inch/a bit more than 1cm below empty, you must not fill it up completely ofc, or you cannot seal it off. If you want to test it, maybe start with a gap of an inch/2-2.5cm towards the end of the tube first, to get a feeling for it.
What I do is to gently, with a disinfected (70% ethanol) plier, I 2fold" the end of the tube as small as I can, just a few millimeters. When I got it folded, I gently press with the plier, but I don't have to press it down towards the tube cmpletely, because then I take a small (works best with small, light) hammer, put the tube on a wooden board or so, and hammer the first fold as flat as possible.
Then I proceed the same, I carefully fold directly at the first fold again with no gap, with the plier until it's somewhat a straight line, and then hammer it down again.
I suggest to fold at least 4-5 times, to make sure the tube is somewhat closed and would also resist heftier squeezing. Ofc, feel free to fold even more, usually it seems best to leave as little as possible air in the tube, so the creme doesn't get bad fast due to the oxygen.
All of that being said, in case you don't mind plastic, by now there are shops (at least in my country) where they sell refillable plastic tubes! So you can fill it from the top, and as soon as the container is empty, clean it out, and refill.
Take care and have a nice weekend :)
      Meri

The Impulse sealer doesn't work for a plastic tube - I just tried it. It works best for plastic bags.
