Excellent demo, from one Mapex guy to another. I’ve had the same setup (minus the “fast” tom depths) for a couple years now, after owning a Mapex M-Birch and then a Mapex Pro-M, and continue to be thoroughly impressed the most with the Amory series. The sound is rich, but punchy and crisp. Switched out to an Exterminator snare and that thing cracks like a whip! Mapex all the way!

Love mine the 10 and 14 Tom's are winners but this kit really shines with coated g2s on em .great video
@bobbyddrums1566 what sound do you get with the coated g2s. I'm looking for warmth on mine. I have the M birch kit in honey amber too and it sings with single ply clears but I want the opposite. More warmth and natural tone

got this mapex mars kit at the pawnshop and i dig it , but i think i'm gonna jump up to a6 pc studioease kit new rainforest green , sounds awesome and you're a fantastic drummer , great review

Awesome display of tone, tuning, head choice and shell sizes. Very informative. I love the sound of these shells. I am most certain to get this exact set up with the redwood finish. I would use the Remo Ebony Emperor heads for my toms.

I have this kit in the same colour. Wonderful, exactly the way I want a kit to sound. I wanted to "upgrade" the snare, went through three Black Panthers (Cyrus, Razor and Versatus), got rid of all of them and ended up keeping the Tomahawk, it's a killer snare. Didn't need any upgrading.

Would love hear about your tuning methods for your toms, they sound killer. Ive done a lot of research and I use quality stuff but I can never get them to sound as awesome as this

Put 3mm rims on the rack and floor toms with pinstripe heads and it will become a raging beast. Love my Armory.
Excellent demo! I have been looking into the Yamaha Stage Custom Birch. Noticed the Armory was a blend of both Birch and Maple. Better than the stage custom in your opinion? Sounds amazing!

Great demo. I have the redwood version. Amazing sounding kit. Sadly I contacted Mapex to switch out my snare and they said after 6 years of doing that it's ended

You have the fast Tom sizing right? Is the add on Tom (8x7) deeper than the included high Tom (7x10)? Does it make it look weird or sound strange? I actually want to get the non fast Tom setup of this set but it doesn't come in the ultramarine gloss so it would make the add on Tom look extra weird. I'm just a little confused why they only offer ultramarine gloss in fast Tom while also only offering the add on Tom in that same color. Just seems so strange to have a higher Tom with more depth. It sounds great in this application so I guess I'm really just trying to convince myself it will work well together and won't be weird lol.

I got the Tama Superstar Classic kit over this one. I think I may of made a mistake.
Yo what's up! I wanted to ask you about the tom mounts. I'm wondering if in order to get them stable and not moving around, do you have to make the cymbal stands legs super wide?
Right now I got the Yamaha Stage Custom and they got the toms mounted into the kick bass, so I'm just wondering if these'll be easy to adjust
Hey man!! The Mapex Armory kit is actually very light. Made it very easy to mount. The clamps are well weighted as well to keep them sturdy. I’m no longer rocking this kit though.. I’m rocking the Sonor AQ2 now. The toms are mounted in the kick drum as well

Nothing major! It’s all about hearing what sound you want first, then tuning accordingly!
Yaahn, your videos convinced me to get this kit and I absolutely love it. I have the "rock" shell pack. If anyone is on the fence about this kit, go for it. I'm a studio engineer, I record a lot of different kinds of music and this kit is wonderfully versatile. Great punch/bite while maintaining lovely warmth. So happy! Thanks Yaahn!

I would say, YES! You’ll have more than enough pieces to choose from at a decent price point. Also, if you do purchase this kit - make sure to put coated heads on it to get more depth.

Bass Drum(s): 22 x 18 in.
Tom(s): 10 x 8, 12 x 9 in.
Floor Tom(s): 14 x 14, 16 x 16 in.
Would that be better suited for my purpose at church?

I love the armour kit sound, quality and look the only downside is the bass drums are too deep at 18. 14 deep is the ideal as it's punchier, less flabby, takes up less real estate, real easy to move from rehearsal out the door, into the car and upstairs into venues and back again!
I play a M pro 6 piece myself for 10 years and cut my bass drum myself with a fine blade hand saw! It's 22 by 14 now haha!
Emad 2 on BD batter, a steel snare with classic coated ambassador but clear emperor's on Tom's 10,12,13,16.

Congrats, you do great work. I have played other pros kits as a festival stage manager, it's a perk that I could do soundcheck test,setup and tune if asked! An ex Charlie Watts Gretsch 4 piece was my favourite kito with a 90,s Sonor ProLite also blew me away.
