- A CASUAL PICNIC AT MR DARCY'S PEMBERLEY: WOULD JANE AUSTEN APPROVE?// Happy Friday, Time for a little Jane Austen road trip here in our area! If you're a big fan of the BBC 1995 adaptation of 'Pride & Prejudice', you will recognise Lyme Park in Cheshire straight away. Yes, that's right, it's Mr Darcy's Pemberley and it's a beautiful National Trust property that we have visited many times. It's a wonderful house from the 16th century on the edge of the stunning Peak District.
We filmed the house and grounds for you and also had a casual picnic with classic tea sandwiches and sausage rolls. Stay tuned for next week Friday where we share what you will need for a relaxed picnic in the countryside. We hope Jane Austen would approve. Have a wonderful weekend. Kirsten & Joerg xx

The entire property is amazing, just beautiful. The picnic under that ginormous tree looked so relaxing. What I liked most, that they not only have portraits of family with pets, they have portraits of the pets. Gotta love people who love their pets that much.
You both are so calm, a joy to watch. Unlike we Americans who are more loud and boisterous. 🤣
Not all of us are loud and boisterous---many Americans actually have a very quiet nature. We don't get noticed...we fade into the background....because the loud ones stand out!

I am one of those loud Americans. And it’s very funny that you mention this, because when I’m here, particularly when I’m filming video, I find myself always whispering... to NOT appear obnoxious! 😉

I lived in the US for many years & i found most Americans to be quite loud (albeit many were very friendly & hospitable), but could also be quite aggressive & very defensive unfort, especially when challenged regarding past historical truths. I do speak from very personal experience & i know many non-Americans, but even Americans, who do think the same way unfort.

I laughed so hard when you asked Joerg if he wanted to swim and he said a quick but decisive “No” and scurried away. 🤣 That house is one of my favorites and so had no idea it was so close you where you live! How convenient and pleasant!
Hahah at least you don't have to swim in that lake, you can just stand lol.
If I remember correctly they explained in “ the making of Pride and prejudice” that the lake was too shallow so the actual diving was not filmed there. 😊

Hello Kirsten and Joerg well another lovely video from you again as usual and very apt as I'm approaching the end of Pride and Prejudice as I work my way through Jane Austen. The lilies in the orangery were lovely , in fact the whole garden is beautiful. I must say you always find somewhere nice and quiet to have your picnic and it looked so tasty too. The house was used by friends of ours years ago for their Daughters wedding reception and she had a lace parasol as part of her wedding attire which just seemed so fitting . When I go into houses like that I always go off into dreamland and imagine myself living there 😁 My husband , Laurence would love it because he has always fancied a sit on lawnmower . However , I think if he went around those lawns with it he would be gone all day !! I must say Joerg made a very nice Mr Darcy !. My husband and I lived in both northern and southern California, but currently are living in England. Ian does not even like sausage rolls, but he thought the ones Kirsten showed looked amazing! I’m in heaven at Pemberly! I had no idea it was on the edge of the Peak District, I thought it was in the Lake District because Miss Bennett traveled with her aunt and uncle there in the movie. Seeing all you showed us was wonderful and I had a great feeling of satisfaction knowing Elizabeth got to live a happy life there with Mr D. Btw, you guys looked so beautiful in the far shot of your picnic sitting by the tree, it looked like an impressionist painting!! I can’t believe you guys have jackets on , I’m sweltering in 90+ degrees enjoying this video.🥵 Thank you so much.

When we were visiting Engalnd , a family that we went to see served us cucumber sandwiches just like yours!! We loved them.They were very gentle and polite My mother raised AKC collies and so did they.

Hi Kirsten and Juergen, My name is Vicki and I am watching all of your videos one after the other pretending I am there with you. I would love to have your weather as I cannot deal with our Melbourne Aus summer. Today it reached 30 Celsius and it was way to hot. Three days like this in a row and you have no energy to do anything. So, don’t complain about the Eng summer weather. 10 yrs ago I booked a car for 7 days and did the Jane Austen tour with my niece. I missed Lyme house. I would kill to do it again. So, I enjoy your experiences. I also love the shopping and antique shopping. I love your house improvements. I approve of all choices. Your videos like these are just so peaceful and beautiful. One of my favorite scenes from Pride & Prejudice is when Lizzie is staring at the stone face of Mr. Darcy and the maid ask Lizzie if Mr. Darcy has a handsome face and Lizzie replies "I dare say he is"
