      well not really true. German is very difficult and the slightest error in putting a sentence or words together sounds really awkward to native german speakers.

    • @July-nj5sn
      @July-nj5sn Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@leroi804 yeah, but in terms of words it's true.
      I mean we have stuff like:
      Flugzeug -> fly stuff -> plane
      Feuerzeug -> fire stuff -> lighter
      Werkzeug -> work stuff -> tool
      Taschenlampe -> pocket lamp -> flashlight
      Hundeleine -> dog line -> leash
      Or in other words: If you forget the word just say what it does and add zeug (stuff) at the end. Most of the time it's understandable what you mean.😂

      Tips from a German: such long words are normally compounds made of several words. If possible, try to draw lines between each word and practice them individually, then continue adding parts. I can't help with the stress pattern at the top of my head but that's probably something you could google. Bonus info: the grammatical gender of compound nouns is that if the last part, eg die Frage (feminine) and das Thema (neutrum) but the compound word is die Themenfrage (feminine). I hope this helps. And don't worry if your pronunciation isn't flawless, as long as we can understand which word you mean, it's fine. Us Germans are already very happy if we realized someone is even making the effort to learn our language 😊

    Love the last one. "What the hell is this? Think, Mick, think! It has 'fleisch' in it!"
    -"So this is something to do with meat."
    "Nailed it"
    This is the behaviour of some languages, in my native tongue we call these "glue languages", they just glue words together to make new words. This is why you may hear that "innuits have hundreds of words for 'snow'" i mean, true, but those are like freshsnow, hardsnow, whitesnow, yellowsnow
