  • In this in-depth talk, John Thompson, Co-Founder of Circling Europe, shares his thoughts on Circling and why we need it in the world today.
    The topics include:
    - What it is and the origin of the practice
    - How to do it
    - Why we are drawn to it
    - Vulnerability
    - Developing yout highest (self) leadership
    - What it means to be seen.
    - The inherent healing potentials for the masculine and the feminine.
    - Integration
Circling is a relational-technology based on numerous cutting-edge but simple practices and distinctions that support you in finding what is most true to you, communicating this powerfully and naturally, widening your perspectives and your ability to receive and stay open to others and nurturing a sense of deep personal and collective trust that is both relieving and generative.
It works within the often unseen fundamental ground of communication and relationship that underpins almost everything.
That's why we see such strong transformation and development through the practice, because a small change in the areas that most matter can lead to a profound unfolding of potential over time.
It originated from applying meditative awareness onto our connections with others. In the same way a microscope reveals a whole other level of reality, Circling can reveal a new way of being in relationship.

I got to participate in Circling a few weeks ago and I can't stop thinking about it. It was really intense. At times I felt incredible and light, and other times I felt anxiety and fear. Ultimately it was really great and I want to do it again.
Some of this "as men" talk around 25 mins feels a bit limiting. I think it's really just about relationships and the range and types of relationships people can experience. Also, all genders can embody any archetype, I believe.

I felt deeply inspired by this talk. It fills me with hope and beautifully presents the depth of connection we can experience when we fully turn up for each other and ourselves.
    Thank you for sharing!
    Peace,
    Philippe

Circling is lovely, in the circling format and in general circles that I've attended. That said I've yet to hear a non vague explanation of the process, I feel a certain woolieness around it, something feels incongruous around the statement that it's a non therapeutic situation and then also statements about going deep etc. I feel there is a real potential for facilitators to get them selves into situations they aren't equipped to hold safely by inviting participants to engage with parts that are carrying trauma responses.

Thank you for your inputs. I have no major experience with circling, I just interviewed John as part of the output for this channel. I would like to offer two reflections though: to start with, if circling is lovely as you say, why is it necessary to have a very exact description of the method? I think we sometimes have a tendency to want to wrap our heads around something that might be better understood through experience, taken in through the heart and not the head. I know I have at least, struggled with letting my mind loosen the need for control (understanding and explaining) and instead relying on what feels right in the moment. Secondly the possibility of a circling facilitator being the main cause of a person's unresolved traumas to resurface, this I believe can potentially happen within most healing modalities. It comes down to, as you point towards, if the facilitator has the proper experience to hold the person in that process. But at the same time the participant's involvement and responsibility mustn't be downplayed. It is my believe that we create our own reality and by pointing fingers at others for our misery we are not properly owning this creatorhood. That said, obviously there's rotten apples within all systems, I just think we should be careful with judging the modalities by their worst practitioners. Have a great day!

@@The_White_Stag If the modality in itself was responsible, this would not happen. The fact that it can, shows that it isn't. Namaste

I find circling very interesting. I am wondering how circling helps a person expose their ego? Does circling help with this, or is it simply (or not so simply) to find connection?

Hey Doug. I'm sorry I never got around to answering you. I'm not equipped to answer that question, but if you go to the official Circling Europe CZcams page, I'm sure they can shed some light on your question. Have a great day! //Andreas

A group of people who do not know not to blame or control others and be peacefully authentic or observing, in one room in order to learn that together, sounds like they are not responsible enough to be in this group to begin with frankly. That sounds messy, and people will get triggered indeed. Good luck with that. No healthy boundaries or care is communicated either, as part of this practice, as explained in this video. It sounds like a group of random seekers making a mess, and learning the hard way, haha. Truly facing the truth must be done alone/personally, I'm afraid. That's what responsibility looks like. Be strong. Good luck.
