Watch Boyz N' The Hood Now: AAN.SonyPictures.com/BoyzNTheHood
BOYZ N THE HOOD is the critically acclaimed story of three friends growing up in a South Central Los Angeles neighborhood, and of street life where friendship, pain, danger and love combine to form reality. "The Hood" is a place where drive-by shootings and unemployment are rampant. But it is also a place where harmony coexists with adversity, especially for three young men growing up there: Doughboy (Ice Cube), an unambitious drug dealer; his brother Ricky (Morris Chestnut), a college-bound teenage father; and Ricky's best friend Tre (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), who aspires to a brighter future beyond "The Hood." In a world where a trip to the store can end in death, the friends have diverse reactions to their bleak surroundings. Tre's resolve is strengthened by a strong father (Larry Fishburne)who keeps him on the right track. But the lessons Tre learns are put to the ultimate test when tragedy strikes close to home, and violence seems like the only recourse. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

A small detail, but when Chris finally wheels up in his wheelchair, he hyperventilates while staring at ricky, most likely reliving the day that he ended up in that wheelchair.

Yeah it’s a movie but watching this scene just makes me realize how everyone here is reacting to Ricky’s death, and expressing it in their own way. Monster is grieving but still keeping his eye out for any trouble, dookie crying but hiding his tears, Chris in shock, Tre obviously the one who doesn’t hide the love he had for him and Doughboy in disbelieve that his brother is dead but doesn’t know how to show emotion and compassion because he never received any..

The level of emotion in this scene was unparalleled. Great acting.
2:34 I still remember the feeling I got in my gut at the theater when that tune started. You just knew something bad was about to happen. John Singleton captured that intuition perfectly.
The moment he took the first step down you hear the music and knew exactly what time it was.
Yup, in the movie, the hope he would get out the hood was strong but the second they split up, you knew something was going to happen.😢
Even that piece of music in the scene is called Impending Chaos
Despite them just having a fist fight, Dough was still concerned for his brother. Scene still hurts. Damn
Families fight all the time. It's holding on to that grudge is what really matters
It’s even more sad when you think about how he was so close to becoming a football player and getting his family out of Crenshaw
What makes this even more sad especially for Doughboy is the last contact he had with Ricky was a fight and punching Rick in the face. If Doughboy would have went to get the cornmeal for Rick he'd still be alive.
You're misinformed. Ricky's girlfriend told him to get the cornmeal, because she wouldn't finish frying the fish without it. And Doughboy told Ricky that he wasn't the one that she told to go and get the cornmeal and told him get it himself.
@@lorinmiller3317 yeah and right after she asked Rick Rick went outside and asked Doughboy on the porch "hey man why don't you go to the store for me". Double barrel shotguns only fire two rounds before needing a reload, he likely knew this already living in the ghetto.
3:52 - The actor who took the shot actually ended up becoming a gang member following this movie, and ended up dying as a result. You can look up ‘The Story of Lloyd Avery II’ and watch it for yourself. Tragic, man.

Tragic story indeed. Killed in prison by his cellmate.
He committed a double homicide. Then he turned to God while in prison. He came back from the prison's Sunday Service and started arguing with his cellmate about a pentagram on the floor of the cell (his cellmate was a Satanist). His cellmate strangled him, put his body on the pentagram, and performed a ritual.

This is what makes me so mad: they killed Ricky for what? What was the reason?! Ricky ain't do nothin to nobody!!! That's how it is these days. People get killed over a little bit of nothing. We as people need to quit doing this to each other!!
I think: they shot ricky to insult his brother, because in the scene you see them near his home, it looked like he was ready for them.
That was the point, to show brothers that what we’re doing to each other is senseless and for nothing. It also shows how the cycle continues with Dough and the crew riding all day just to find them and kill em. If only they understood what Furious was trying to give them when he spoke 🤜🏾🤛🏾✊🏾. Let’s stop the violence 🛑 🔫
I think they shot him because they thought he was in a rival gang. When they first meet Ricky wad wearing a blue football jacket. That's my assumption anyway.
They shot him cause he got mad at Ferris for bumping into him on purpose at the car meet prior( hence the “They’re that motherfucker that was talking shit the other night) line
They knew Rick was from the 60s set and it’s obvious they bloods , they was just riding through the set but I’m sure they knew Dough was the smoke they ain’t want

One of the saddest moments of cinema history. But a true reality to people who grow up in these kinds of areas. Lives are taken often over nothing. And the level of awareness you need to have in order to survive day to day is unreal. It is a literal civil war zone. Either make it out the hood or try to change it for the better. Either option is a journey, one is just a bit more arduous than the other and will likely take many generations.
