Fun fact: when the Colombian is holding the Chainsaw to Tony's face asking where the money is, he calls him "Scarface" in Spanish. It is the ONLY time in the entire movie that Tony is referenced by the Title of the film.

Poor Manny. His story was so sad. He idolized and followed Tony everywhere. Loved him like a brother. He womanized, treated girls like love objects. So when Gina fell for him he treated her right. Dates, dinners.. Kept her clean. Married her in secret and I'm sure the one thing he wanted to tell Tony that he never got to was that he loved her and was finally Tony's real brother. Tony got mad and killed him. He'd empty that in less than 2 seconds like brrrrt, instead it goes on like it was fucking belt fed. Also everybody seem to be fumbling around a lot as if they suddenly became extremely clumsy, of course to give Tony the time he needs to get the upper hand and escape. It's probably your lack of knowledge/understanding that makes this scene so great.

One thing I love about this scene is Tony's overall reaction to the situation. He subtly gives off that he's scared shitless (No one in their right mind wouldn't when faced with the prospect of being cut up with a chainsaw), yet he still shows defiance.
Even in the face of almost certain death, he doesn't crack or panic. He just remains almost motionless, like a coiled snake waiting for the right moment to strike. Because one, he's trying to buy time for Manny and Chi Chi to come back him up, and two because he knows that talking won't save him.
And it's when Manny busts in guns blazing, that's when Tony finally strikes.

Pay attention to the extras and how realistically they react as this scene escalated to the street. The old lady grabbing her purse and pushing people out her way to get out of there, and the guy sitting on the end of the porch. He’s watching what’s happening, not really running away until he sees Tony run downstairs after the guy with his firearm. Suddenly he’s like “forget this, I’m out of here!”-I responded to scenes like this in real life and I’ll tell you their reaction was as real as it gets. Great film.

The same effect is achieved in The Texas chainsaw massacre - basically you see only around 4% of the horrific and naturalistic gore that is going on. The most frightening aspect is that you as a viewer project your own fears and frustrations and everything that wasn’t directly displayed, you build it up in your imagination. A small but convincing hint is enough.
