I said this on another gig worker content creators YT channel - the only way Doordash (AKA Tony Xu) would actually be forced to give a damn, and give us some level of guarantee and much higher pay, would be if his own bank account took a massive hit. Hey Blake thanks so much for featuring my comment in your video! That was such an honest and well thought out take on the strike and current state of delivery, I really enjoyed it man! I too have thought about unionizing, creating competitors, longer more thought out strikes, etc. but unless these companies are forced by law, I think there’s really only 2 options for individual drivers to make any changes. Either band up with other drivers in your local market and try to start some kind of direct competitor but more local. Maybe partner up with a small-mid size restaurant and make some sort of deal between the drivers. Or, stick to the adage that independent contractors ultimately set the price of services by refusing to do the work for the low pay. Theoretically if EVERY SINGLE driver refuses to take a 2$ no tip order then it FORCES the companies to eventually pay more and tipping would essentially be required
New gig workers are take every order that comes in. They are just learnig the ropes. It new exciting. But once you get that hang of it. Then you see the difference
DoorDash is so oversaturated with drivers in my market that I don’t even bother. Shipt is actually paying well in comparison. Hardly anyone is doing it in my area. Once you realize how to navigate the isles, it’s quick and I’ll probably clear $30 per hour by claiming multiple orders
Restaurants can choose to keep all tips, and then disperse the rest out to drivers. Not fair at all. It is none of the restaurants business what e make, we are 1099!! I grew up driving for restaurants since 1990s as a w-2 or part time W2, this is not fair at all!!!
DD does not recognize you as a human being. your a number if you don't like it they'll replace you. it will come to a point when it's no longer profitable to people they will just quit!!!! really unlikely that you'll be able to unionize. I was in the N.Y.C. CARPENTER UNION probably the largest carpenter union in the country. not going to work for gig workers 🙄
Of course the strike failed. We're 1099, self employed. We're not unionized. When in a union, when the union President says STRIKE, we strike. In a union, we pay union dues. This way we get strike pay. It's less pay than your normal pay, but it'll keep ya going. Well some it will. Listen, as a dasher I would not even want to have or be in a union. Its a side gig. I know some people use it as full time that's fine too, but the objective of a gig job is having the freedom to work when you want and sometimes where you how for as little or as long as you want. We are not W2 employees.
My area sucks lebanon pa. Doordash pays garbage and they expect you to drive crazy miles for a little bit. Something has to change because they are raking in the bread but the drivers are suffering. I don't take bullshit orders. Never!

What if the customers go on strike! Tell DoorDash, Look! Until you start paying your drivers a livable wage and stop sucking us dry with fees that don’t go to the drivers, we’re not going to use your service!

@@Moore.Driven bro that is insane I live in FL and that is high for FL with as much as those bills are there you would think they have money to tip better than a mile per $
If they have so many drivers onboard why do I get sent a $5 offer for 18 miles 5 times in a row? Which I declined all 5 times those orders are for them cause they don't seem to understand that i'm not taking them 😂
Doordash strike failed because everyone chases tips. If everyone or a good majority would do hourly pay and then have a slow down . I think you might get the attention of the top brass. The tips are what they are but on hourly pay based on estimated time . Doordash would have to pay more. Everyone chases tips not time.
Like tonight of course I didn’t take it but Uber sent an order out for three dollars even to do almost 10 miles OK and yeah I was doing some DoorDash is $18 an hour thing and that was all working fine cause they’re all short trips and most of the people were dipping by a very last one was a really big Home and of course, that they didn’t give that penny. Kind of ticked off, butbut I was shocked when I seen something for 10 miles or nine point something for three hours that’s about as low as you can get
In my market it was really busy with a lot of extra bonus pay up to $4 but I only checked once so I don't know if it went up. Pretty lame to tell people not to participate on your platform. But yeah in my market it was lit up.
I think they way to do it is to advertise with flyers for a driver's network at every single delivery app participating restaurant and implement every one of those plans. And what ends up happening is a new delivery platform forces doordash to compete with it's pay rates while it gets desperate for drivers. And then the freelance life of app drivers resumes where drivers actually just cherry pick which app is paying better or has the higher volume of work again. To include doordash. Who had to stay current with the market. The very first step is getting all the drivers networked and communicating with each other. Or at least aware of what sheet of music everyone is on.
The biggest problem in the Seattle area and I'm guessing nationwide in the big cities is illegal's taking all of the orders. I've been doing this for years thousands of deliveries. And now I go to 3 hours with nothing coming in on Uber and DoorDash. And I can verify that's the problem because when I had a pick up at panera. There was platinum Americans standing around waiting for orders and I asked a couple of them if they're orders were slow. Also, and they said no English, so it's not hard to put that puzzle together. Since you don't need a social security card to drive. And the government gives some a car in a license😮
Of course it was going to fail. They did a tremendously horrible job advertising it. If I were orchestrating it, I would have had Facebook ads pushing out to everyone that has interest in Door dash. That would have insured. It got out to every driver and customer. And I would have been pushing it out for several months before the event. These guys, whoever is actually in charge of that, are a joke. In my opinion.
The day we become unionized is the day we all become employees and give up our independent contractor status and benefits. The only way to fight the poor pay is to use supply and demand in our favor. The more we encourage our fellow delivery drivers to decline orders below $5 or so. We need to help them see that when they accept those low ball orders they are hurting all of us. The other benifit will be that the cheap and scamming customers will drop off since they won't be able to afford the service all together.
A.I is going to put an end to most gig work. Once those self-driving cars become a thing, the whole delivery process will be automated and drivers won't be needed. And DoorDash will have real competition as new companies emerge using new and evolved technology. DoorDash will have to pour billions to keep up.
@@StormWatcher313 probably won’t happen in this lifetime. They can talk it up all they want but at the end of the day it’s still dangerous. A lot of people don’t even want this robotic stuff. There are reports of self driving cars being smashed in and delivery robots are being kicked over.
@@Moore.Driven glad to hear it. I have become really reliant on your videos to keep me motivated. I am sure many others on here to do as well. (and my comment wasn’t directly targeting you, but more so gig work CZcamsrs in general that are all moving in the same negative direction.)

When you first start the first week or two if you’re lucky they make you top dasher. I was regularly getting $10 tips two three times a day. I was making over $30 an hour. Unfortunately I do it part time because I’m retired. I’m not going to kill myself for a couple of dollars. So now I drove on Wednesday. I don’t work the best hours because I drive 23 miles to dash. My choice. So I’m barely making $10 an hour. I’m going to skip DD and try Uber eats. My acceptance rate is 80% but I don’t do 100 deliveries in one month. So I don’t qualify for top dasher. I’m probably going to stop doing this job if Uber Eats is the same as DD. I’m not working for so little money and putting so many miles on my car for this job. You do this full time. Just be top dasher and you can make decent money. Personally if I was your age I would get a job for the city, State or Federal government with a guaranteed pension after 22 years. Gig work sucks. Good luck.
Unionizing would wipe out the small profit margin that we have now. I would be against it. I have seen that basically, you have to spend a long time online, then hopefully you will get a very good order. May have long periods of waiting in between orders. Eventually, there will be a new app to overtake DD, UE and GH.
11:00 iss not weird, Blake. Iss DD 😂 they ben stealin sense tha very start. This iz a scam company. Their whole motto iz make a dolla off of lazy ppl. Am i lyin?
Don't fall for the referral scam! Your never getting that money. The person you refer has to complete some task like" complete 270 dashes in detroit in 90 days to receive the referral money." So when the new dasher realizes that its way more profitable to dash in a better area than detroit. They're not gonna complete the task and no one gets any bonus money. And now you have yet another dasher to compete with and doordash secures a new member of their army to over saturate the market and drive drivers pay down.
I understand everyone wants to get better pay, in every job field. But in my opinion, if you're not happy with your job, then get a new job. These jobs didn't exist 10 years ago what did you all do then? Buy lot of the drivers aren't old enough to remember before rideshare. I'm a rider or customer just as much as a driver or Dasher and there are lots of crappy drivers with dirty cars, cars that smell like weed, cars that need repair, and incompetent dashers, so honestly a lot of the drivers don't deserve higher pay. If your car is dirty, or in need of repair I automatically give 4* boggles my mind how these drivers have such a high rating. And in order for the drivers to get more pay, the customer will need to pay more.. if the customer won't pay more, there will be less demand and less rides. More money per ride but less rides.
I don’t get how y’all don’t understand the basic economic principle here… If DD pays a high wage (such as $30-$35/hour) like you guys want then a lot more people will join which cuts money from you and customers will see a higher cost which will also translate to less orders and AGAIN less money for y’all. Yes you could fight for $30/hour but if you can only work 2 or 3 hours a day what’s the point?? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Now this is my second comment on this video but if they could get even the paper per hour to go up now where I - unfortunately I don’t get many DoorDash is they’re pretty slow I’m always getting $18 an hour. I heard people in other cities are getting like 10 and 11 OK at $18 an hour it’s less people are giving no tips it’s been pretty fair OK tonight within a half hour I did two orders and I made about 17 almost $18 then right after that I did another one and they never gave a tip but that can get raised across the country to something a little bit more fair like I said, I believe where I’m doing it 18 is fair but when I heard of people getting 11 and some people getting even less no, that’s not fair that stinksso just buy two cents if something is Kim campaign just to even get that right now in our area, Uber is like 80% of my orders and DoorDash is slow as can be

Well put i wish doom and gloom people would shut up
Lesson learned. It’s not good to tell everyone to do what u do lol. more competition the less money u make.
Restaurants can choose to keep all tips, and then disperse the rest out to drivers. Not fair at all. It is none of the restaurants business what e make, we are 1099!!
I grew up driving for restaurants since 1990s as a w-2 or part time W2, this is not fair at all!!!
People need to stop crying 😂
Never!
Bro, you said my mind. it’s very sicking and annoying, giving garbage for crazy miles. EG: $10 for 10miles. Bro that’s fu**cking 25mins drive if not more.. I h**te Door Dash. i always wish to sue them.
idk if it failed because i got $5 peak pay since the strike and it’s all the time. made almost 200 for 3 hours last night
What if the customers go on strike! Tell DoorDash, Look! Until you start paying your drivers a livable wage and stop sucking us dry with fees that don’t go to the drivers, we’re not going to use your service!
People are to broke to strike
They are Broke because DD is not paying them a profitable wage ! Remember the owner is from China 🇨🇳 and they don’t believe drivers are human ! This owner is why your broke !
Utah must have cheap rent
I wish… I pay over $2,000/month for a 2 bedroom:/
@@Moore.Driven bro that is insane I live in FL and that is high for FL with as much as those bills are there you would think they have money to tip better than a mile per $
If they have so many drivers onboard why do I get sent a $5 offer for 18 miles 5 times in a row? Which I declined all 5 times those orders are for them cause they don't seem to understand that i'm not taking them 😂
I think the people ordering me go on strike to show that they care about us more than the company that would impact
Bc tha power iz not in a momentary strike. Tha power iz in ur evryday actions
Doordash strike failed because everyone chases tips. If everyone or a good majority would do hourly pay and then have a slow down . I think you might get the attention of the top brass. The tips are what they are but on hourly pay based on estimated time . Doordash would have to pay more. Everyone chases tips not time.
I strike everyday by not accepting the garbage
W uploads
strikes don't work when influencers encourage people not to strike.
No point evn contemplatin sumthn DD wudnt consider. Don't xpect them 2 do ryte by us. Milk it 4 what U can... & plan 2 move on. Only a steppin stone
Thru the attention that the strike drew, I learned that the company doordash sucks
Guys which Q is good for dash?
Uber bought back their own $7Billion worth of shares, does that tell anything? If action doesn't work try inaction.
Kind of ticked off, butbut I was shocked when I seen something for 10 miles or nine point something for three hours that’s about as low as you can get
It was alot of peak pay on the 14th here in Beaufort sc all day busy made over 200
O hv a prius 2007 is good but 95 cents for miles is not good
Change doesn't happen over night
It’s goin stay the same because idols still taken 2 dollars orders
The biggest problem in the Seattle area and I'm guessing nationwide in the big cities is illegal's taking all of the orders. I've been doing this for years thousands of deliveries. And now I go to 3 hours with nothing coming in on Uber and DoorDash. And I can verify that's the problem because when I had a pick up at panera. There was platinum Americans standing around waiting for orders and I asked a couple of them if they're orders were slow. Also, and they said no English, so it's not hard to put that puzzle together. Since you don't need a social security card to drive. And the government gives some a car in a license😮
Piano man undastanz 👌🏾💯
Moore, with ride share, have you thought about putting a blanket or something in the back seat to help mitigate damage from passengers?
My area was plus 3-5 the whole night
Wasn’t long enough
for me is opposite DD is better than Uber and Lyft I get 20-22 DD and for uber 15-16$ and Lyft 18-19$
A.I is going to put an end to most gig work.
Once those self-driving cars become a thing, the whole delivery process will be automated and drivers won't be needed.
And DoorDash will have real competition as new companies emerge using new and evolved technology.
DoorDash will have to pour billions to keep up.
Same goes with just about every un skilled job. It’s going to be a while before that happens.
Not gonna hapn 4 a long while
That is not gonna happen for years. Tesla is 20 years away from doing it. The self drive A.I is terrible😂😂😂😂
@@StormWatcher313 probably won’t happen in this lifetime. They can talk it up all they want but at the end of the day it’s still dangerous. A lot of people don’t even want this robotic stuff. There are reports of self driving cars being smashed in and delivery robots are being kicked over.
I heard these self automated cars can drive up sidewalks, up stairs, into elevators and all sorts of stuff. Crazy
I am so over all this doom and gloom content. I miss the old videos that pumped me up and inspired me to keep on working out there.
It’s just this week! Had I lot of stuff I wanted to discuss, next week will be more positive!
@@Moore.Driven glad to hear it. I have become really reliant on your videos to keep me motivated. I am sure many others on here to do as well. (and my comment wasn’t directly targeting you, but more so gig work CZcamsrs in general that are all moving in the same negative direction.)
What wrong with bringing light to the truth. if you dont like it just keep your eyes close, stay off youtube, and keep accepting those $2 orders.
@@gabegtoa3569 I don’t get your hostility, I simply said I miss the old videos that made me fall in love with this channel. I don’t like the last couple weeks of negativity. I’m entitled to my opinion. No, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna go take $2 dollar orders.
these videos are EXCELLENT and informational. I'm actually tired of all the other doordash people/ videos acting like shit is good when its NOT!
Thinking you have to be an actual employee to be able to unionize but not positive
Eventually, there will be a new app to overtake DD, UE and GH.
yall dont want a union
Who ever said there was a strike went to work all day and stole all that money from everyone ahhaaha
11:00 iss not weird, Blake. Iss DD 😂 they ben stealin sense tha very start. This iz a scam company. Their whole motto iz make a dolla off of lazy ppl. Am i lyin?
You sound like you work for corporate doordash.
Don't fall for the referral scam! Your never getting that money. The person you refer has to complete some task like" complete 270 dashes in detroit in 90 days to receive the referral money."
So when the new dasher realizes that its way more profitable to dash in a better area than detroit. They're not gonna complete the task and no one gets any bonus money.
And now you have yet another dasher to compete with and doordash secures a new member of their army to over saturate the market and drive drivers pay down.
Asking the customer what they tipped and expecting them to be honest about it? Let me guess, everyone tipped :)
This is nothing new all about supply and demand
I heard people in other cities are getting like 10 and 11 OK at $18 an hour it’s less people are giving no tips it’s been pretty fair OK tonight within a half hour I did two orders and I made about 17 almost $18 then right after that I did another one and they never gave a tip but that can get raised across the country to something a little bit more fair like I said, I believe where I’m doing it 18 is fair but when I heard of people getting 11 and some people getting even less no, that’s not fair that stinksso just buy two cents if something is Kim campaign just to even get that right now in our area, Uber is like 80% of my orders and DoorDash is slow as can be
Hey I actually have a platform already and I would be willing to use my platform to benefit the drivers , I originally had the app developed to go against door dash because of these exact reasons I would love to get some help with this if it’s possible could we have a conversation about it I can show you what I have already
