Solo I had never heard of that? Is it all over the Country like Door Dash, Uber etc etc? Anyway heading over to the App Store…Oh and I had an accident taking a $6 frigging CVS order…Took the directions down this REALLY dark long spooky lane, hit a huge pothole and threw me into a ditch of trees and bushes. How the heck I got out and drove 12 miles home is beyond me? Hole driver side front demolished 😩!!!!! This was over 3 weeks ago and the adjuster is just checking out this morning? So had no income at all…..Sucks as we get NOTHING from Door Dash it’s ridiculous? I only got the car not even 2 years ago and it was hit in July while parked outside my house???? Luckily woke up to a police report so it was covered THEN an Amazon truck driver backed right into the rental…Long story but I didn’t get insurance but mine covered it. Got it out of the Dealership and my whole Computer screen wasn’t working at ALL so still fighting that. My poor car is worth $10k now and paying $400 a month for 72 months…Aggghhhhh sorry for the essay…😳

The cherry picking person is gonna actually make a profit and the one accepting everything will literally loose money. They could even just run out of money for gas while also using the so called “profits” as instant transfers. 80% or more orders aren’t worth the gas or time. The whole “higher paying orders” priority is bs. If people aren’t tipping they aren’t tipping and it doesn’t matter if you have priority. I have even still got orders that are higher pay but the milage still makes it not worth it. The thing is just hit and miss. Some days are good some are bad but it’s all because DD doesn’t pay enough base pay and enforce at least a min 1 or 2 dollar tip.

I think the biggest misconception amongst customers is how the fees are distributed. Most probably assume drivers, like myself, receive the majority of the cost since we are the one doing all the legwork. Most definitely NOT true. DoorDash keeps 100% of the "service fee", which is just a percentage of the meal cost and retains 50% of the "delivery fee". Only a small fraction of the amount a customer is charged is given to the driver (you know, the one doing 99% of the work). The "tip" is a bid for our service. Most drivers are only asking for reasonable compensation because we don't receive it from the app alone. If a customer doesn't understand why their no tip order isn't getting delivered, they can get it themselves. Demanding that drivers should deliver with little to no pay is bullshit. EVERYthing costs money. This is capitalism.

I applaud you for committing to this challenge and proving what I suspected. I do Uber Eats more than Doordash, but find it isn't worth it worrying about acceptance rates. I am picky with what I accept, often with acceptance rate in the teens to low 20s. I still end almost all shifts with at least $2/mile average, often closer to $3/mile. I would rather sit idle for a few minutes waiting for a good order, than accept weak orders. They do eventually come, even with low acceptance rate.

I can make $100-160 but it’s really about location & I use about 5-6 gallons of gas.

IMO the benefit of Top Dasher is it allows you to accept order that you’d normally turn down because they take you out if your current dashing zone to another zone that it’s unlikely you’ll get a dash on your drive back to the busy area in that zone. With top dasher you can accept that order ie. $15.00 for 11 miles take 30 mi to pick up and drop off, it’s the 15 min drive back and wait for another order worth taking that kills that. With top dasher you can accept it end dash after you deliver it and immediately start dashing in that zone it brought you to and accept similar orders in that zone back to your original.. it’s is pretty beneficial to not having dead time waiting to schedule dash time or for the area to be busy and open to everyone. Also instant access to Peak Pay Zones, no waiting or scheduling

Think about it this way. We’ve all started as a “top dasher”. We’ve all started with a 100% acceptance rate, because we were all maxed out with those stats in the beginning. We’ve all still fallen with acceptance rates because no matter how many bad orders you take to get your rate up, DD will still send you bad offers half the time. Hidden tips. Why? Because they’re trying to mess with your head. Maybe you should take this bad order. Who knows? Could be a big tip at the end. I’ll let you know right now, 9/10 times, there’s no big tip after delivery. This experiment is flawed anyway. These runs do not factor in things like: day of the week, time of day, holidays, weather, game days(televised sports), etc. and so forth. There’s a bunch of different variables, however, I can tell you what isn’t one. Your DD acceptance rate. DD wants that food delivered regardless of your AR. Whoever is the closest and the most reliable will get the order.

May be worth considering: the dash app isn't just going off of your acceptance rate, it is using a complex algorithm. Things like rating, speed, location are going to be factored in, as well as what jobs you take normally. Taking all offers may have messed with your algorithm.
I think if you strategically take jobs now that your acceptance rate is high, it will likely spit out more jobs you would likely take.

Drove 525 miles......NOT COUNTING RETURN MILES.......these are just working miles. At 25mpg that is 21 gallons of gas at $3 = $60 fuel costs. Minimum $52 in vehicle wear/depreciation costs, dont know his car could be much higher. That means he cleared around $590 or $5.90 per order before taxes.
My guess is if you added the non working miles and gas/wear costs when not on a delivery that this number is significantly lower.

Earnings are a combination of market, culture, time of day, day of week, day in month, proximity to restaurant, number of active dashers… in other words it’s random from a drivers perspective. Doordash will end your dash if you fall below 70. So you are forced to take orders. If you decline, doordash doesn't allow you to select a reason either. I take every order because I have to hit $100.00 minimum. We have no control over good orders. If they show up, be thankful you got it. I have a perfect acceptance rate yet I still haven't seen anything over 7$ in my area. I'm averaging 15 to 20 deliveries to hit $100.00.
