This video actually helped explain several questions I was running into, thanks for the video and keep up the great work, my next paycheck I will send some money to your paypal account
I helped rebuild a Studio City house after a fire. We tore the interior down to the studs. The original 1939 builder had written his name on one of the beams that carried the weight of the master bedroom end wall. It was neat to find 70 years later.
I have learned so much from your videos. I have a question... Do you leave a gap between the bottom of the backerboard and the top of the bench like you do for the pan?
Do you account for the pan liner mortar and floor tile + thinset when figuring out bench height? So that your bench height doesn't end up being a goofy cut on the front side tile?
Hey so I have a question. My new shower will be 8’8” by 4’6” and the bench will be the 4’6” unless I build a curb (really thinking curbless is the way to go) anyhow what size bench would you personally put in a massive shower like that and two shower head good enough? Both wall mounted with hoses or sliders
If you just used bricks and mud it would be much faster and you wouldn't even have to waterproof it. That's just the way we do it. Great job man. Love the bideos
Quick question for you. When using a leveling system on floor tile, if the only leveling system that is generally available is a sixteenth of an inch, how does one get say a quarter inch space between tiles? A fellow in a tile store told me to just use the quarter inch spacers as well as the levellers. Thanks for your help, this has been bugging me for a while.

This was interesting we are about to work on our shower and bathroom new friend here.
Apprentice should never get upset at the master 😂
If you already have the sheet rock up in the shower can you add a bench like this or do you need to cut the sheet rock back to the studs first ?
Great explanation
Got a question. What do you do if you have a shower pan in place

Just my thinking on this, but if you’re red guarding the whole thing would you still need a membrane pan?
Do you recommend putting a shower pan liner underneath the cement board to protect it from water?

What did you cover the shower with after framing it (before putting on the tiles)? Is it drywall board?
