The thing is after the musical episode they didn't hint at Betty and Veronica's romantic relationship. Both in ep 15 and 16 they just acted like good friends. It was pretty obvious to me that, whatever happened in episode 14, the writers wanted them to explore their strong connection (even through a kiss) but not as a romantic couple.
I also remember an interview that came out after ep 3 where Roberto mentioned Jughead and Veronica and said we would see their relationship throughout the season, so I think their comeback was planned.

Read an interview with the cast where Lili said Roberto basically didn't want to end the show with the adult storyline, Betty as an FBI agent etc, I guess he wanted the final part of the show to be soft and sweet. I kind of agree swapping seasons 7 & 6 would be a better storyline.

I would consider them cute if the storyline was consistent. I mean we had that little bond forming between Jughead and Tabitha and then that whole episode about Veronica and Betty, and now them getting together out of blue just doesn't make sense. The first time it happened in the beginning of the season was cute, I'm not a fan but they were an interesting couple to watch. But now it's just weird. (sorry for any mistakes, English isn't my first language)

@@_Nami_ your comments fine thanks for the reply and as I mentioned I do not watch the show but I kinda do through reactions and I can agree with you I think riverdale writers have some issues staying consistent with the storylines they make.

considering the writers strike was looming and they just barely managed to finish the scripts before it was called, they definitely didn't rewrite scripts that late to add in jeronica. it's indeed very pointless, but i think that, as well as the random bit of beggie teasing and beronica teasing is for build up for the ~anything can happen endgame. i think with beronica, while they definitely baited with the imaginary kiss and talk, i think it was ultimately written vaguely enough that they could get away with ignoring it and keeping them besties. like their duet was mostly about them both running for president and competing against each other, but in the end they decided to run together and work together and then their talk after could be read as them agreeing that they choose their friendship over archie and know that they can achieve more working together than competing against for him. and they simply acknowledged the gay subtext they love throwing in by using a kiss to symbolize it. but again, it was clearly baiting, but i think that's what they were telling themselves they were going for.
anyway, with jughead's comic book story, it's very boring and drawn out and nobody cares, but the idea of fighting censorship in the bending towards justice part of the story does make sense and is very timely with how administrations are taking books they deem inappropriate out of schools and libraries and changing school curriculum, etc. so it very much has a purpose, it's just painfully boring and being told in the most dry way possible.

This season so far is way better than the previous ones in my opinion because it’s different and it stays true to the comic (it makes sense due to the fact that it’s literally a show about a comic book) however I think they should’ve given us this in an earlier season or they should’ve just wrote the show like this from the beginning. Ever since they started exploring the idea of other dimensions, I find myself getting lost in storylines that at the end of the day don’t finish off and are left unresolved, due to the fact that they move on too quickly from one thing and don’t let things play out “naturally”
All I’m saying is that i have high expectations for the last 3 episodes because realistically they have ALOT to explain to us still.
