Jughead is narrating the story of Riverdale from the sweet hereafter the whole time. that's what he said when 'this is where they've always been.' I don't know if they always intended them to time travel and stay in the 50s but to me it fits so well that the sweet hereafter is their 50s selves and not modern. It made me like this common CW ending trope (See spn/tvd) it's like reverse of titanic where they die in the future while it pans through their lives and they die old and then they reunite in afterlife it's sorta usually not my cup of tea but I enjoy this much more with that one little line this where they've always been. Lili made me cry so many times during this.
Jughead was IN the diner with them. Jughead the narrator is writing the story. When he said, "We'll leave them here, I think," he was deciding how to end this story. So NO, he hasn't been writing this "from the sweet hereafter the whole time". He's the author writing a story that included himself as a character in the story. He's the only real person; all the others, including the Jughead in the diner, are characters in his story.
I was definitely crying all last night on the inside and out. And I still am. Really going to miss Riverdale. ❤️😢
I get why they wrote it that way, they couldn’t make everyone happy so they did what they wanted not the fans, and in the end none of the core four stay together, but Cheryl and Toni and Kevin and Clay stay together, everyone else moved on and had a life and that’s true to life not everything lasts forever. The Netflix version has extra and extended scenes. I think fangs was a reference of sorts to Ritchie Valens who died in a plane crash when he was 17 in 1959 both being rock stars and both being extreme coincidences one a random plane crash the other a tire blowing out and crashing the tour bus. Jughead wrote this show, he was the writer of Riverdale every thing we watched, was what he was writing.
notice how jughead was there reminding betty of what happened to all of them EXCEPT FOR ARCHIE. In the scene with archie, betty remembered everything on her own and told him what would happen by herself. Like how do they have to tease us like that for no reason 😭 if they aren't endgame, why do that??? It’s pure evil!
I was so upset that Barchie didn’t end up together. It still feels like they all really died when the comet hit. And they completely got rid of baby/big Anthony and Polly’s twins.

Barchie had to be endgame! Betty had a picture of Archie in a heart frame in her house as an old lady. On the seat, at the Babylonium, in one of the scenes it had the initials BC and AA in a heart, and near it, it said CA was here, indicating Carla Andrews, the girl she adopted. Also, she may not remember that she was with Archie, even if she never married him because she had dementia or something. Also, she was so excited to see Archie through that window again. Plus, whenever Cheryl told Archie at the end of 7x04 that one day a girl will want to go to California with him, and maybe she lives next door to him. The fact that Betty obviously doesn’t live in Riverdale when she is older, indicates she lived with Archie in California. Also, how come we never got to see Archie’s future dramatized. He was the only one who didn’t get a collage like the others. One last thing, Betty knew Archie’s future, while Jughead told her everyone else’s.
The part before Betty went into the party is what got me the most. She knew this was the last time they would all be together. Jug-Head's arc of life quote.....
THIS! That part tore me up! I have watched it several times & sob every time. That is such a powerful, succinct summary of life. You can fight it, but you'll never beat it. All marriages end. All friendships end. Almost all of us fade from memory. I am crying right now just writing about that existential moment in the show. This is one of the reasons, despite all its flaws of telling us rather than showing us, I liked the series finale.
IF ONLY we had had that quality of writing throughout the whole series, Riverdale could have been great, not a show that people study to learn what NOT to do.

I haven’t watched riverdale sense like 2020 and yet I’m still crying over the finale💀
I've never even watcherd a full ep of Riverdale until the finale and I still sob when I think of that very concise, "That's the arc of a life," speech that Jughead gives B & her reluctance to go inside because the both knew it would be the last time she saw those people. That some existential shit to face. (Re the characters: I knew the characters & parts of their stories from watching video essays on the series, episode clips, reaction vids, & music vids, plus all the comments I've read, so with the exception of Fangs, I knew at least something about each character.)
I'm fully content with the fact that they live in a multiverse with time travel, dimension hopping, supernatural stuff, and the afterlife. They're having infinite adventures across time and space and I'm okay with it. I did cry like a bitch multiple times during this episode.

i think i’m in the minority but i thought the last episode was perfectly ended, i even liked the throuple and saw why that would make sense. i wasn’t a barchie or even bughead endgame anyways to be begin with but i’m glad the core 4 were all together even if they were both friends and dating. i’m glad about choni having stayed together their entire life. it was cool to see and hear about how everyone lived their life after high school and what they went onto do before passing.
A throuple is 3 people. This was 4 people & thus not a throuple. I guess "fouple" never caught on, even though it's a better mashup than "throuple" (as a mashup of "FOUr" & "peoPLE") 😆 so they called it a "quad". The way they take these terms & present day values into the past is so anachronistic.
River playing Chonis son was truly the most adorable thing I’ve ever watched. I’m so happy about their ending 🥹
this was my guilty pleasure show. now it's just gone. the quadruple thing was disturbing. They killed Fangs the worse. Since Jughead was the narrator, this was like one giant Twilight Zone type of thing. overall, it was a solid 7/10 series finale. It really didn't feel like a series finale. I wish they pushed it out to one more episode to OFFICIALLY WRAP UP everything properly.
I’m glad that Betty and Archie got one last kiss. That was more than the others got. It truly felt like a goodbye. I like to believe that they were the strongest couple out of the core 4. And at least they’ll always be endgame in the present day timeline.
I assumed it would be a "throuple" since the beginning; Betty, Archie, and Veronica. I also exepected Veronica to eventually leave like she did and Betty and Archie would be endgame-I also called Betty not wanting to be married. Glad about Choni and Kevin & Clay, still cried my eyes out ... surprised these were the only 2 last episodes of a Riverdale season that underwhelmed me. Also this season should've been either S1 or S6 and S1 actually being S7; the writer's are still on Jingle Jangle.
Wait... You say you expected Betty & Archie to be endgame AND you also called Betty not wanting to be married. That's a contradiction. Either they get married & are endgame, or they part ways.
@@DonnaBrooks Being Endgame doesn't always lead to marriage, it means they'll be together forever ... Friends could be a platonic endgame, some people are against marriage-so it is not contradictory.
There is a very interesting theory that says that the girl Archie stayed with in California is actually Betty, since to begin with we see this from the perspective of a Betty with dementia who did not remember the lives of her friends but conveniently knew everything about Archie's life with specific details, plus they never said that he married the girl in California, it says they just settled down there, that would explain why Betty has a picture of him (only him) in a heart-shaped frame, They met in California and they stayed together there, that would also make sense with what they said in season 6 episode 1 about not wanting to get married, it also makes sense if we think that Cheryl in season 7 told archie that he would find the girl with the one who would go to California and write poems to, this being BETTY COOPER, so it's all connected, it's like a weird version of what happened with Steve and Peggy in ENDGAME, Archie and Betty are (maybe) another endgame in the show 🤷♂️
Archie’s future life was the only one Betty fully remembered, without the help of Angel Jughead filling in so many details for her ❤
And that it was such a beautiful bond moment , shared between Betty and Archie alone, so tender, made it so much more… telling?
Perhaps as Angel Tabitha worked to make all the timelines into one, that’s the most comforting way to justify the shifting inconsistencies in storylines and character arcs through season 7. Not just the ever wtf Riverdale Writers.
Though I was crying too much to take it all in.

I love this ❤ the only thing I’m unsure about is that betty said she adopted her daughter, how would she remember that or if she really had one with archie?
But the show clearly says that Betty moved to NEW YORK where she published her magazine & was an activist. And Betty would not have told Archie that he would MEET a girl in California if she knew that she was going to marry him. She would have no reason to discourage him from imagining their future together.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to ky for being one of the only yt reactors to stick with this show the whole time. Despite the craziness and the chaos you still have been a positive light to the show in general for me, like seeing ur reactions made the bad episodes seem not as bad in a way lol. I will deffo keep an eye on ur channel for anything that I can watch with you and it has been amazing following your riverdale reactions all these years. I started watching this when I was about 8 and I'm almost 13. This was my comfort show for years and watching that last bit of dialogue from jughead in the last episode was so heartfelt and I'm gonna miss this show forever. Goodbye, Riverdale
I found it crazy that after all those times of trying to save Riverdale in whatever plot was threating it to it getting destroyed by the comet to it getting saved by Angel Tabitha, Riverdale became a literal ghost town in this new version of the future! LOL! For real though, I would have loved to know how that happened.
I will miss Riverdale so much 🥺 Thanks for your reaction 🙏 With you I always had the feeling that I am not alone in my riverdale love ( No matter how strange the stories were sometimes ) . In the end the show was so great because of choni, they gave us so much (fangs and toni was so nonsensical for me) that they have their happy ending makes me so happy ❤

I don't know if this will help you or not, but i look at it like, Archie always wanted to honor his dad and really valued his dad's hopes and dreams. In the original timeline, that meant staying in Riverdale and making Riverdale great. In the 50s timeline, his dad's dream was always to travel out west and see California. So in a way, Archie did stay true to himself by honoring his dad and fulfilling their dreams. Hope that perspective helps with Archie's ending 😊
saying the characters in the original timeline never would have drifted apart and not spoken after they left high school is pretty funny considering that's actually EXACTLY what they did? they all came back to riverdale 7 years later having not kept in touch, and that was when technology made it a lot easier to do than in the 50s, so it's actually very realistic. betty went to some of veronica's premieres and visited her grave, but they lived on opposite sides of the country and betty eventually became a mom, of course they'd eventually drift. betty clearly still kept in touch with archie to know about his life and how happy he was.
i laughed at fangs dying young idc, deserved. i didn't mind him this season and thought he and midge were cute, but sometimes karma gets you. but for real, i think it was a homage to how often young stars died back in the day. and objectively, i liked that they were realistic and had at least one of them die young and tragically. not that every friend group has someone that dies that young or anything, but all of them living to be 50+ years old would be so easy.
i agree that clay was perfect for kevin and he finally found someone that felt right for him. i did like him with moose, but clay is just a better fit.
choni definitely got the best ending, and i'm thankful for that. i know you and others think the 50s isn't connected and it isn't the same characters, but i disagree, especially for choni. they continued their story and found their way back to each other without looking at anyone else. archie mentioning that they got back together was very validating, on top of the fact that the memories made others go after exes but not toni because she never had feelings for fangs. i personally love that we got to hear about everyone's life, knowing choni spent their whole life together happily is worth so much more to me than them simply ending the show together.
i personally think roberto would have ended things the same way if they stayed in the present. obviously the quad stuff wouldn't work and i think jabitha probably would have stayed together (assuming it was erinn's choice to leave, tabitha could have been off franchising different pops offscreen), but i think they would have still not committed to an endgame for the love triangle since they set up the 50/50 thing in s6 for a reason, imo. if ras wanted to make any of the ships endgame, there was nothing stopping him. and even if he planned on one endgame in the present time, nothing was stopping him from changing his mind midway through like people think happened this season.
overall, it was a good finale, but not amazing. but not many series finales can achieve amazing and this one didn't leave me particularly unsatisfied like a lot do, so i'll give them kudos for that. it didn't feel as disconnected to the rest of the show as it could have, but i'll always wish we went back to the present.
I actually loved this finale, I don't think there was anyway to make anyone happy in the core four relationship department. However, I have always loved the comics. I think Riverdale has always been camp, and has played with all of the multiverse plots of the Archie-verse even before they said it out loud. The change for the show is they placed the characters in modern times, and just played with everything, so by bringing it in to the 50's it was almost like the writers slowly gave the show back to the comic. At the end the modern characters were kind of released to go live a life, and then the comic characters come back. Locked in the 50s frozen in time, living in high school like the comics. It all felt super meta.
Wow, what a hell of a ride. That’s it, riverdale is over… and I’m going to miss it AND you’re reactions to it so so much. It was so comforting watching all these seasons along with you and I really gotta say, the show has also been my comfort show for years and while i never felt understood with my feelings and my emotional connection to riverdale and these characters you really put it into a nutshell. You where the only person i saw reacting to this crazy show who in fact actually loved it and not just reacted to it to hate on the „stupidity “ of the show and reach many viewers. I laughed and cried with you and were always so freaking excited to watch your reactions to riverdale. Now that it’s over i just wanna say: thank you ky nicole. Thank you for everything, you really became my comfort youtuber over these past months and I’ll definitely check out whatever you’ll have planned for the future. With that, Goodnight Riverdale. Honestly, I sat here crying while watching the episode yesterday. As crazy as this show was and as much as I sometimes couldn't follow the plot since second season.. I'm still gonna miss these characters. But then I'm also kinda glad that the show has come to an end because this was one hell of a ride! And I definitley will miss seeing Cole Sprouse as Jughead. I actually just started the show because I wanted to know what character he's playing since he's one of my favourite actors from my childhood (I admit I love the Suite Life till this day😅). But now I guess it's goodbye for now, until I find out what he's up to next 😜

Tabitha sent our Riverdale Characters back in time and let them forget about the comet and all other stuff, yet they still are our characters that needed to live in the 50th to make a better future for themselves, so that they watch their past lives is just like us looking at old pics of us and remembering about that moment that we may have forgotten

Like 'Oh we were a couple of four for a year because we couldn't decide' and then all of them losing contact and no one being endgame? What a wimp move. I feel like the main relationship in senior year should’ve been a throuple between Veronica Betty and Archie if it wasn’t Barchie (they would obviously be endgame in my opinion). Just because the love triangle is such an iconic part of the comics. Jughead and Archie don’t seem to have any romance so it’s just awkward to add him in there
Jughead and Archie weren't involved with each other they were just sharing the girls while the girls were also having their own thing, lol.
It wasn't really that surprising, actually. I mean, Betty and Veronica have kissed in the past, lol. Throughout the final season, they definitely had sexual energy between them. Veronica was attracted with all 3 off them at different times in the final season. Betty, in the final season, was discovering her sexuality and curious. Then when they got their memories back from their past lives I saw it coming with the four of them Betty&Archie/Veronica&Jughead/Veronica&Archie/Betty&Jughead/Betty&Veronica and it only lasted for a year so it was like a young experimental thing they were doing. The only ones that didn't do anything were Archie and Jughead.

There’s a theory on internet that says that S4 was the final of Riverdale because it was the last time all core four were together at high school and if you check the last episode of season 4 Jughead is wearing the same clothes that he is using in this episode 👀☝🏻 and S5, S6 & S7 was a Jughead’s story… For that reason in those seasons there are powers, magic and so on…👀🤷🏼♀️

I thought that might be true because at the end he says, "We'll leave them here, I think," as if he's considering what else to do with them, and then decides the story is finished.
Was season 5 when they did the time jump ahead 7 years? Yeah, but there was a lot of weird shit happening in S3! That's when they first jumped the shark. Except that this show just kept jumping more & more increasingly fantastical sharks! In fact, the first season was a basic teen crime solving show.
I mean, isn't this supposed to be a small town? And they have all these murders & multiple serial killers? That's not realistic. A single murder in a small town is big news, much less a series of them. People would not just continue life as normal until the killer was caught. Of course, I grew up in a rural area so my definition of small town is probably different from Riverdale's definition.
This episode really disappointed me ngl, I still will miss this show tho, what a wild ride

it may just be my personal opinion but for me this polyamous quad relationship wasn’t huge of an issue. Like i kind of understand why they did go that direction in the end bc in the comics the love triangle was in fact (whether people like it or not) a HUGE topic and honestly iconic! Not to add that tabitha summed all of these different timelines and universes up in ONE SINGLE ONE and there where timelines where archie dated betty but as we know also timelines where he dated veronica. And since betty and veronica kind of also had a thing for each other in this new 50s timeline and vughead started developing feelings for each other aswell it kind of really made sense to me. I just wish they would’ve brought it up differently yk? Like not in a joke way, maybe that would make it clearer that they really meant it serious.
And honestly i am very here for some poly representation in television since you see barely any but i think it would’ve fit even more better if they only put the classic love triangle in a relationship, started it A LIL earlier (like mid ss so we could’ve really seen it developing) and left jug out of it. i just kind of felt like it would’ve been better if it was just betty, veronica and archie all dating each other because I’ve seen something like that coming since the beginning tbh and really started manifesting it in ss6 + they where the iconic love triangle since the beginning tbh.
I think it would’ve prefered if they revealed jughead was asexual in the end, like in multiple of the archie comics and him not dating anyone (well he did end up not dating anyone as we learned near the end, but i would’ve liked him being comfirmed as ace and not being in that quad-relationship.
yea so basically that’s just my opinion on that!! y’all can think whatever you want. (I originally was team barchie btw so that would’ve been my choice of endgame but well at least there was one last beautiful but heartbreaking scene of them)

Yeah, I share your feelings overall! Didn't like the quad thing at all, nor did it feel believable. Betty and Jughead were essentially strangers to each other for the last 2 (or 3?) seasons, Betty and Veronica seemed to have lost interest in Archie in season 7 and Jughead and Veronica were only together for an episode and it was quite weird. It makes no sense.
I didn't like that they drifted apart either. We've already seen them drift apart after graduation in the original timeline when Jughead was the only one to show up at Pop's after one year had passed. I also really wanted Jughead and Betty to at least talk things through but that never happened. They went from having this incredible relationship to basically having no screentime together, and it was so frustrating!
One ending that I would have enjoyed would have been them getting their memories back, going back to the old Riverdale for graduation and not making the same mistakes again. Knowing better this time. Keeping in touch with each other, staying close friends and Jughead and Betty making up and not having this unaddressed rift between them forever.
I wish someone would justify my emotions watching cole sprouce pausing with those eyes and saying “sometimes” at Betty/lili . Ugh!
one question for everyone bc that was the only thing that bothered me too in that finale ep and i didn’t rlly understand: What was the point of jughead narrating the whole show ?now that it like hasn’t been explained in ANY WAY… or did i just miss something? This thought has been driving me insane and I really wanna know so please reply to my text if you know something or have even just an theory that would make it make sense.
I think about this too! And what was the point of him being an angel or was he even that? What version of Jug was it and why did they emphasise on the sound of the writing machine in the end? Did Jug still write everything in the bunker is that the reason?

The ending of this show was written for the sake of art, for the sake of the writers’ vision for these characters. Television IS art, it isn’t supposed to be created just to please the audience. This is a story about growing up. I’m sorry but growing up is painful. It’s bittersweet. No show has EVER ended in a polycule. How can you not see that as extremely brave writing? Why is cow towing to the audience NOT cowardly?
Ha... okay, when you already answer the question of ships by having two get engaged and being sure in what they want at the end of the second last season, and then have to erase their memories, throw them into a different decade with new mentalities, and then just have everyone dating everyone: it's unexpected, yes. But not the kind of experience I'm looking for when I want to see a good genuine wrap up of the characters and stories I watched from the first six seasons. Brave? Not fanservice? No. I'm aware of this showrunner and know what he's like. He took the cowardly way so people weren't mad by the endgame, and made it so everyone could take from it what they wanted and make a case for their ship. I'd rather things make sense and follow genuinely from the previous seasons than him trying to please everyone in a way. You're free to look it how you want but I'm going to continue to call it cowardly, and I don't care if people don't like that. *shrug*

I noticed that in the scene Betty and archie kiss you its archie yes but is like kj to beacuse hé always wanted a barchie endgame i think kj wanted that the look in his eyes i think the writers where afraid beacuse the bughead fans they would be pist but barchie is endgame i hope in the future they maybe do a Réunion or a reboot from Riverdale maybe a s8 so Manu heats later bring them back i hate it Betty you can see she is in love with HIM even After 86 years archie to he loves Betty more tegen Ronnie they even het no goodbey Betty kist archie with 87 years ecprience she choose HIM above jug they dint kiss they ar just friends they love eacoter but archie en betty more i hope maybe on ever a s8 who kows i think maybe the girl archie ended was acatly betty i also think that jug in heaven is with Tabitha where hé belongs and we al kow archie heaven barchie is my endgame i dont care they are stil in love love you so much barchie is my favoriet coupel of al time and i mean it i seen a lot of series but those two my heart loves them so much i hope also that maybe kJ and lili make a movie togehter would be cool no hate Please bughead fans outhere i have my opinion ❤
That's what happens when people ship characters the writer's decide to mess with the shipping writers probably got tired of it and decided to put Betty with 3 at once reason why I never ship characters. , marriage is overrated anyway
i agree with the ending at season 6, i think it would’ve been interesting for the show to end with the comet. like open ended with us not knowing if they lived or died. idk i just think it’d be kinda cool
Survive an extinction level event? That would put them all back to Bedrock, not Riverdale. No, if they ended with the comet, we can assume they all die or will die soon from one aftereffect or another. I heard that it was heading directly toward Riverdale, but they can't leave & they can't communicate with anyone outside of Riverdale, but IDK why that would be the case. And how is it that every country in the world doesn't know about this impending doom? Anyway, if it strikes Riverdale, at least their deaths will be reasonably quick compared to starvation from failed crops & having only polluted water to drink.
