For those fish eat mid water, I’d recommend corydoras as their tank mates. As corydoras digging in gravel all day, they also send food and small particles to lower mid water where mid water swimmers can eat comfortably.

Is there any way to dual breed the two? I was looking online for something to maybe breed in the same tank as my CPDs, and I thought of corys, but I can’t find any instances of other people trying it.

Great video, Cory! I inadvertently helped my CPDs to breed earlier this year when doing a rescape; moved the adults into holding tank for two days, then moved them out again. Two weeks later, noticed teeny tiny fry. Six months later, those fry are still alive and doing well in their own tank with Chili and Pheonix Rasboras. And yes, CPD's can be very shy unless there are other fish present to convince them it's safe to come out.

My original #8 are happily living and spawning in a fairly heavily planted 20 H with a sunburst platy trio. I was planning on it being a species only tank, but the platys helped so much with the cpds shyness that I'm very glad I added them.
I'm using guppy grass for spawning material which I'm moving between the parent's tank and a planted, established grow out ten gallon.
Parent's tank 74 degrees. Grow out tank a little warmer- 76.

The easiest way I have found to breed them is to just stick a male and female in a planted tank for about 10 days, then remove them and voila babies will start to appear. Don't have any other fish in the tank because they will be easily eaten even by other fry.

These were the first fish I special-ordered online, got 8 of them a few months ago. They were so tiny I decided NOT to put them in with my betta like I had planned, but instead put them in the 29 gallon I had just cycled. They've thrived in there. I hear some say they're very shy but mine aren't especially so- they will dart away and into cover when I approach but within a minute they're all out and swimming around again. I have a planted tank with driftwood, cabomba, swords, and moss, and they love hovering at that mid-level point he mentioned above the moss and wood. I've added dwarf neo shrimp and gold laser cories into the tank- they were scared of the cories for less than a day before they figured out there was no threat and they're all getting along great now. I've got a bunch of baby shrimp in there now and TWO BABY DANIOS! They're so tiny it's hard to find them, lol. They stay up near a plant near the surface, away from the larger adults. I'm hoping they'll make it (had them a few weeks now and so far so good). I love watching these fish- they're interesting and constantly moving about, exhibiting behaviors, and exploring their tank.

The mesh helps keep the adults away from the eggs and fry so they have a chance in the display tank. I also fed the shell less artemia eggs before i made a hatchery.

The best food I find for them that stay in midwater or sink slow is frozen baby brine, hikari micro pellets, and new life spectrum probiotix spectrum (small pellets). Tips, keep the tank super planted with lots of hiding spaces. I am planning to get some dithers eventually but we are in lockdown still and can't get to my local fish store and it's too cold to ship.
