    The extremely small, incredibly beautiful fish, only discovered in 2006. Found Hidden Among immense natural beauty in the golden triangle of Shan. Found nestled between, brutal dictators, coups, communism, imperialism, colonialism, savage warlords, and violent heroin producers.
    This video is an overview on the celestial Pearl Danio once known as the Galaxy Rasbora. It only entered the aquatic fish and exotic or wild animal trade in 2007. This video uses this opportunity and the homeland of this fish, Myanmar to discuss why we were not able to discover this fish earlier and the very specific Lake location at which this fish is found.
    Discovering this fish and bringing it to the Western world is a tail that involves genocide, ethnic cleansing, communism, socialism, colonialism, democracy, and conflict across the board as Warlords nation-states Imperial powers and drug lords from the Shan region dealing in heroin in the Golden Triangle all fought over territory in this amazingly beautiful and biodiverse Country.
    This video serves as a jumping off point for talking about water parameters for Celestial Pearl danios, for talking about the care and reproduction cycle, as well as sexing the species. It will also cover the type of community fish tank or display tank they fit in with best (a peaceful one), be it an Iwagumi, Amono or jungle Style aquascaped tank, they are a prolific and peaceful fish, perfect for any hobbyist, experienced or not.
    I touch on the plight of political issues in Bangladesh, Thailand and India, as well as the refugee crisis flooding out of war torn Burmese camps where Buddhist ultra nationalists are ethnically cleansing and killing Rohingya refugees, who are a Muslim minority. This has been escalating since 2006 in a tit for tat conflict that threatens to close Myanmar off from the global market and western world, so soon after we just began to explore it's culture and beauty. My heart goes out to all the innocent people involved on both sides of the issue.

    Just a pedantic niggle on my part, but the name "Heavenly fish adorned with pearls" is a translation of their initial name Celestichthys margaritatus, before they were reclassified into the Danio genus. "Danio margaritatus" simply means "danio adorned with pearls," or "pearl danio."
    I know it's a dumb detail, but It got stuck in my head.

      A.C. Aquatics do you move them from tanks to stop eating the fry or just leave them in the same tank

    • @ACAquatics
      @ACAquatics Před 6 lety +5

      bhillson I pull the eggs. I've never had a CPD fry make it successfully in a tank with other fish. I keep a trio ( 2 females and 1 male) in a 10g tank. The only other thing in that tank is a glass bowl about 4in wide and 3in deep full of java moss. They lay their eggs in and under the moss so every evening I use a turkey baster to suck the eggs out of the bottom of the bowl. The eggs are not very sticky like Cory eggs so any movement of the moss will release the eggs to fall into the bottom of the bowl. I guess you could remove the entire bowl but that is just how I do it with a baster. I then put them in their own 5g tank until they become free swimming, Usually 48hrs later. From there I feed them micro worms ever 3 hrs for 14hrs every day for the first 2 weeks. I have great success with this and it's what works for me. I can produce pretty much as many CPD fry as I want but space quickly becomes a problem. Hope that helps. "Keep doing what you do if it works for you"

I would like to know more about the geology of this area and seasonal impacts (dry/wet season) and how it affects water chemistry. this can only help in immatating conditions to breed fish with more specific requirements, like clown loaches.

Play with filming angles (sashimi whiskey style) and some voice overs & video editing (our buddy Pecktec). I learned something new also. I didn't know you could keep CPD's with cherry shrimp. I would have thought for sure they'd eat the eggs. I've never been able to get mine to successfully breed.

      Thanks for watching, and as i raise some money ill definetely be improving the channel. Also yes, you can have shrimp and CPD but they will eat shrimp under 2 weeks old, so add lots of ground cover...same for cpd eggs, they need fine leafed plants and then some rock piles to have the best chance. Any fish will eat new born shrimp, but these seem to allow my shrimp to increase in numbers just fine

I know some rasbora's do well with them, I'm getting a imbellis Betta pair and was thinking these would also be good with them, I have a 29 gallon, moderately planted but the anacharis I'll probably let bush out more as well as the tall hair grass, maybe I'll add some more anubias they seem to grow rather well in my substrate , though I recently moved them to the rocks cause they grow diagonally in the substrate Wich actually looks kinda cool cause the roots go down and the fish will swim threw it but not what I'm aiming for right now

      Super hard situation going on for like 300? 200?years. Colonialism and redrawing territories that dont match the ethnic kingdoms and cultures didn't help either.(there are sooo many Bengali related languages and smaller groups ).
      It's one of those situations where you can't blame most the people involved but both sides have a good point...it just really breaks my hart to see rape and murder anytime... i mean also...it makes the area remote to collecting fish, and prone to environmental disasters with piracy, smuggling fuel, warfar and forest burning.

    Complete nonsense review of their habitat . They come from clear waters so leaves and tannin's are not a natural feature. Maybe you should learn some history first before spouting rubbish ?
    Go on seriously fish for there accurate profile and don't listen to this dude

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  Před 4 lety +5

      There are 3 habitats for this species...yes they also live in the water you speak of, however human activity has drastically changed where they live. Also there is a wet and dry season linked to monsoons.... which raises water levels, flushes out leaf debris and drops temps. Maybe you should learn to read more than 1 or 2 websites...Thailand basin and the creeks draining out of the Shan region, and specifically lake Inle are the type of water you're thinking of....the lakes, flood plains and swollem rivers dominate far more hectares of water in total.
      Maybe you should speak to someone who collects these fish from the wild, as i have.
