Probably the best tragedy historical cdrama, I've seen. Both main characters had reasons that drives them to death unlike some cdramas I've seen when the ending is rushed or a wth moment.
Tragedy ending for Goodbye my princess & One and only are a very rare thing I see & appreciate in this kind of historical Cdrama. I’m very much prefer a reasonable dead than an illogical ending. Some Cdrama leave me speechless with the “WTH just happened” ending.

haven't watch this drama properly but the novel that this drama is based on is one of my all time favs. the fact that history is written by winners and from their narratives is one of the most heartbreaking things in the novel. Zhousheng chen sacrificed his whole life for his nation and people but he was written as a vicious immoral villain. that was probably worse than death for him. it makes me think that in reality there are probably many more zhousheng chens burried in our history and we do not know about them. in the novel we don't get to see much of their past life and it is mostly focused on their present life and the family politics that happens in Zhousheng chen's family. the book is intriguing and heart touching with well written characters. not to mention the sweet passionate romance of zhousheng chen and shi yi😍 they are one of my fav couples

I finally saw this and was shocked the Good guys lost. But I agree it made sense for her to check out. Don't let that creep win you. His dumb plan and he dies anyway. Obsession is for fools.
The ending is so sad but at least they stuck to their beliefs. And then we are redeemed in Forever n Ever.
Watch sequel forever and ever to get c their happy ending.
Their chemistry and the slow burning Passion in it was superb

I agree with all of your points here. When I watched this series, I kind of predicted what will happen at the end of the story, and even though I was scared cause the ending might be too much for me to handle, I keep watching it while bawled my eyes out. He is too good for his own sake! this is why he could never get the girl! but still, I think the plot does make sense and the ending is justified. looking forward for the next part
Yes, I also guessed what would happen to him and only hoped that some of the people around him could be spared at least :)
@@quippequest ikr!😭 it just makes it harder. I also kind of appreciate it from the drama that they make the main male lead to be "too good to handle" kind of character, bcs usually it's the 2nd ML who is like that. And this is the main story, not that kind of backstory or flashback
