I am an ENTP because I try to be good at everything despite the distractive nature of it. No joke. Art, music, science, all of it! I wanna be good at everything 😜 and I hate logical fallacies. Okay, first of all, being an ENTP... Not that wonderful, people. On the outside I think we tend to look impressive, but inside we're a mess of arrogance, untapped potential, impatience, and paradoxes. It took me forever to understand myself, and I've carried the shameful weight of having insane ambition but having not accomplished anything. Just turned 40 and am going back to finish college so I can finally have a career after being derailed for 20 years. Sure, we might have some awesome things to offer, but being a wash-up totally sucks. Here's to finishing something I've started for once 🍷

It is impressive to achieve your version of success even if you have to go the long way.

15:26 That is why as an ENTP find most of the ENTP stereotypes as idiotic, with Fe there is a huge sense of how we are perceived and how we affect other people emotionally. So why would an ENTP actively antagonize everyone the way ENTP stereotypes describe. Specially with Ti, if Fe is our inner desire, would you think we would do something as illogical as actively antagonizing everyone when our goal is to be liked? No, it makes absolutely no sense, yet people still believe in that stereotype, no matter how illogical it is when you look further into functions.
I just want to add that being seen as skilled is actually not that important, or at lest to me. I only care if I think I am skilled, there is only one person I care to impress and proof myself to, which is me. I only externalize my thinking and skill, if the group I am in values it, not because I want to be seen as skilled, but because they value skill. If I am in a group that doesn't value said skill, I won't even mention it. Of course, I over value, my skill, knowledge and intelligence, often to my detriment, but I do not care if I am perceived as such.
There was this video I found way too accurate about ENTPs. Another person is trying to offend the ENTP, saying things like "You are the most idiotic person I have ever met" and the ENTP was just laughing, and the other person gets mad and says "Why are you laughing can't you see I am offending you?" and the ENTP says "you fail to realize I do not care what you think of me, I only care that I think I am intelligent and that is the only thing I care about, therefore your comment is only irrelevant to me and that is why I laugh" and then says "If you wanted to truly hurt me, tell me how nobody likes me, tell me how I am a burden to others and how I bring nothing but negative emotions to other people"

Well, I could tell that their intention was to ‘make fun’ of me but I was confused at that young age stating out loud; erm, ok? So what? I felt like; ok , i know I’m supposed to be ‘hurt’ but I just couldn’t ‘do it’. I could have focused on them overall intending to ostracize me, but it was just oo hard bc I was distracted with how much it didn’t make sense. Like; pick something that offends me instead if you’re going to go out of your way to make fun of me etc. Btw, I think I’m enfp but that doesn’t mean I don’t relate to scenarios which would fit a more entp situation.

But as an ENFP, absolutely- I will use status as a means to break rules and I am fine not “showing” my rebellious side to anyone, as long as I’m achieving good for myself and others.
My son, I somewhat admire for his more flagrant and public breaking of rules and proving them stupid. I used to be fascinated about why he wouldn’t be more like me and do it subtly, avoid trouble and get ahead. But the cognitive functions explain it all😊

Fi/Te can have a mindset of “the ends justify the means” for better or for worse.

It's ok to just sit in the silence sometimes. As an ENFP I've learned to do that and just be comfortable with myself and my sometimes awkward quirks. As soon as you do, it turns the awkwardness back on the other person bc it's really them that don't accept themselves. Don't pay attention to the weird looks or harsh judgements from others. I hate all the ENTP stereotypes, like how we've got no feelings, cold, condescending assholes. It sucks, because I sometimes don't open up because I would wanna rationalise it first incase it upsets other people. I care a lot about how others think. I analyse a problem to make sure I'm being fair and not having my emotions taking over my rationality and sensibilities that would result in prejudice against others. My ENFP ex used to call me an asshole cause I'm an ENTP, insult me and my family and when I finally got upset and confronted him he would say I love to argue with him sometimes i hate these stereotypes, everyone could be just as abusive and wicked, and just because one is more rational/ or one has more feelings doesn't mean that they are more empathetic or what not, it could be for selfish reasons.

I like this comparison! Still very confusing because of how much I identify with ENTP as a cognitive ENFP. This could be due to extreme Te development at a young age. I definitley care more about being acknowledged for my accomplishments so that I can get money to live the life I want. The hardest thing to realize in this comparison is the skill and communication part. I put great value in my skills and connections but I believe that comes through the lens of Fi values for wanting to show my skills to others as an exchange for wealth and ability to do all that I want to do. The ENTP definitley cares more about the quality of their skills and how to show them to people and ENFP is more focused on how to efficiently gain skills and gain influence to achieve their ideals and Aspirations.

It is common to develop your Te over time as an ENFP, and yes you will use that function in certain careers. It's very useful when it's not just used during stressful times!! :) Te is about organizing and delegating and challenging if necessary. Thank you! This pretty much confirms my permanent undefinite answer. I identify with both types in different aspects, maybe slightly more with ENTP; but I tend to test around 49% Feeling and 51% Thinking, so it makes sense. Probably many people who watch this video for clarity also have pretty balanced F-T aspects, seeing all the indecision in the comments. :)

That's right. It's on balance for me too. Sometimes I got F, sometimes T. The latest is 44% T and 56% F. But this vid just makes me questioned my identity as an ENFP all this time. Seems like I couldn't relate to the ENFP points in this vid.

The gist of the video is pretty spot-on. The problem is your explanations. There is a difference between morals and ethics. There's also a difference between logic and rational. TI also notice introverted thinking is logic. Entps are Ti parent. Therefore entps are extremely logical, their thought process is if this is true then this is true. If this is false then this is false. So you're using the same words interchangeably when you cannot. Entps are Fe child, Fe is extroverted feeling which is ethics. Ethics of course is how the collective feels about it. Entps are the most amoral people ever. Reason being, they are Fi Trickster. Entps believe that anything can be good or bad. I'm not saying this is a bad thing that's just the way they are.
Now if you look at an ENFP, they are Fi parent, Fi is morals. So that's why when you talk about we know what is right as an ENFP is because we have very high moral standards. Of course morals is what you personally believe to be good or bad. Enfps are Te child, Te is rationale. That being they hold a lot of weight on statistics and titles of names, degrees. They also love to make it look like they are better than they are. Both types are very manipulative, but as I was told and ENFP has the motto." In the absence of communication or explanation, perception becomes reality" Now, the ENFP is TI Trickster, so they believe that anything could be true or false. Once again not a bad thing. Just wanted to add a little bit more information but you did a great job nonetheless.

Anything could be good or bad - ENTP
Anything could be true or false - ENFP
These points are a little bit confusing for me to understand. Could you provide some examples related to both views here? Would appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out which one am I right now. I understand everything in your comment, but couldn't come up with proper examples for these two references here about ENTP and ENFP 🙏🏼.

I'm always so doubtful of my personality type, sometimes im like 'no, but what if i'm not an entp and actually am *some other type*?' Was questioning my type again, this time after feeling too emotional during the last week, and came to this video. I'm an ENTP, no doubts anymore so thank you for such a good and helpful video (from what i noticed in the comments it helped a lot of people). Actually i think now i'm sure about my type the most i've ever been, i don't relate to any of the ENFP-specific traits you mentioned in the video, but your ENTP on the other hand describes me really well! Now i just NEED to watch your videos about other personality types 👁🔍🔍🔍🔍

I saw another comment here that said if you got super analytical about determining your type, you're probably an ENTP, not an ENFP. ENFPs would just believe that they're ENFPs.
This comment reminds me of my case, when the one that said that I'm an ENFP is actually my INTP lil brother. But he only told me what I am, which I found a little bit irritating coz I don't have enough details or convincing arguments of why am I an ENFP? Since then, I'm trying to figure out my type on my own and ended up in this analysis paralysis of what type am I. After watching this vid and reading that comment btw, the tide of ENTP starting to get heavier for me. I'm almost convinced that I'm just an ENTP right now. Will do more research though.

Love the video Erik. I think understanding ones personality is something a lot of people should explore, and I can relate as someone who has scored as both an ENTP and an ENFP usually only 55% T or 55% F.
Feel free to offer further feedback here but I had some thoughts for those who “can’t decide” between an ENTP vs. ENFP:
Here’s an idea, the more you are trying to analyze it from multiple different angles and perspectives to establish what you think is right based on sound reasoning, likely the stronger your Ti vs. Fi function is (ENTP) and the more you are seeking to agree with what feels true to who you are without questioning it so much logically, likely the stronger your Fi vs. Ti function (ENFP). Remember someone operating as an ENTP is often more likely to defend, argue and justify more opposing points where someone operating as an ENFP is more likely to seek to understand, support and relate to connecting points. (Big Five Agreeableness factor). This does not mean all ENTPs lack empathy or all ENFPs lack assertiveness.
But an ENTP with unhealthy desire to argue may over power their ability to sympathize in many situations (prioritizing Ti over Fe), where an ENFP with unhealthy desire to seek harmony and relationship may interfere with their confidence and assertiveness (prioritizing Fi over Te). In many situations the ENTP wants to look like the smart/competent guy, where the ENFP wants to look like the good/nice guy. ENTP could easily be described as more innovative and strategic where an ENFP could be described as creative and playful. But there can be some strong overlap there. Both are often friendly, funny and very good with people when they want to be.
E/I Thinking & E/I Feeling are each useful functions people should seek to develop throughout their life. You should learn how to have balance and self control when you need it, regardless of your perceived preset functions.
I believe that although most people have a natural tendency more towards one or the other from a young age, this can change and each component of your personality can evolve and develop through childhood, varying based on experiences, family dynamics/parenting situations, interpersonal relationships, learned behavior and skills developed in pursuit of goals or aspirations and what season of life you are in.
Most people will also likely lean more towards thinking under certain conditions & moods or more towards feeling regardless of which is your more dominant function. There can often be an exception to the rules of Think First & Analyze vs. Trust your Gut & Follow your Heart.
People are not binary in the sense of being 100% completely one trait and 100% completely not others. We are not robots. We were designed to be adaptable and strong on multiple ways. Very few people will score as >90%T or >90%F so if you have a pretty even or close balance between the two don’t worry about it or see it as a hindrance. Use both functions to your advantage and turn it into a strength throughout your life. Continue to get mentorship from others with wisdom and seek honest perspective outside of your own thoughts and feelings. God bless!

Thanks for the insights! Yes, this is truly confusing to me. My T and F scores are almost balanced with each other everytime I took the test. Actually all the first letter, I/E, S/N, and T/F are always almost on balance for me. Only P scored higher than 80% for me. Probably that's why it's so easy to determine that I'm definitely an Ne-Si user instead of Ni-Se. Since P is prominent in me. But the judging functions (T or F) got super tricky to determine since I probably rarely use them. And they're in balance too. I must be a hybrid of ENTP-ENFP 😌.

Fairly new to MBTI but it's just so accurate. One of my newest buds is very fascinating to me, I kinda thought he was ENTP but things didn't always add up. With this video it's checking almost all of those ENFP boxes, some of these examples used literally happened in the short year I met him. Hopefully this will to be valuable insight for me.
I always assumed that all his boasting of power and status is just some deep insecurity, since for most people it's either that or actual maliciousness towards others. But I could never find signs of that insecurity so it confused me greatly why he feels the need to prop himself up and remind everyone of his greatness so much when he neither looks down on others nor himself. To hear that it is a way of signaling strength to keep independence and freedom is an interesting perspective.

For me what i want is of no priority...bt i jump to help in wht othrs want ..i get pleasure helping with my knowledge and solution...not with my sympathy. Plus im nt really keen on authenticity unless i hv to find or say the truth...the raw harsh truth. Rest i am flexible with wht i want or like ...which can change drastically if something is logically wrong or right....i mean i can go to a shop to buy a dress, like a perfect dress, then see the price, tally it, analyze the necessity endlessly then buy something else which i wud automatically lik the most cz it fits perfectly with my logical analysis.

On the point at around 11:30, I actually highly value physical power and have large amounts of respect if someone is more physically “powerful” than me. That is why I train in a variety of martial arts and do a lot of physically taxing activities. I feel that I don’t deserve authority if I can’t physically protect and keep it. However I do ultimately consider intelligence more valuable than physical prowess, which is noticeable most in arguments with my dad, who himself is a far more capable martial artist than I, and I still will act with (admittedly quite arrogant) hostility if he is not acting in a logical manner and openly challenge threats he gives me, which used to result in lessons in something called “hu-mil-i-ty”, whatever that is. On a more serious note, he stopped doing that once he realized it made me more defiant of his flawed logic. Oh well, that’s just my input on ENTPs valuing physical prowess

Why? Why did I miss this?
So after watching this video - 5 days ago - I started doubting my whole ENFP self.
I'm not sure if I'm bring unhealthy right now but I watched every ENTP video I could find and it's like...
All of a sudden, I don't just tick 98% of the boxes... I tick 100% of them.
How in the name of all things holy can I go from ENFP to ENTP?
I know they feel so similar but they're also very different... Well right now... I *know* nothing.
So I took Erik's test on his website more than once these past couple of days and I'm lost. I typed differently each time and nowhere close to ENFP or ENTP.
    Please help me.
Other sites give me ENFP most times although I've had ISTP 👀 once, INTJ once (I wish), INFP (between 3 - 5 times) and ENFJ. Never once ENTP or even INFJ.
I'm lost. Can any ENTP just like put a list in here in Point Format and just be straightforward?
    *Like:*
    ° I don't sleep
    ° I love research
° I don't care about your degree, if I had the time and patience, I'd probably do it better than you, so stop talking, start doing.
° Let's not argue any further because you're not seeing my point. Bring the crayons, I'll draw you a picture. If you still don't get it, we'll... I tried.
° What? No I'm not saying you're stupid, just listen to me... If this is green, and this is blue... Then it's obvious that the missing part is yellow?!
    *Yes*
Nooooooo, it could be sea green or some kind of an Aquamarine type of thing... Nothing is obvious! Think!
    *Okay then, No*
OMG you're so gullible. Pick a side and stick to it so I know what's happening in your head so I can plan this whole damn argument whichever way it goes. It doesn't matter if you go off-script... I'll still be able to think on the spot but seriously, I don't like people who switch sides all the time. Be who you want, just stick to it. I hear what you say and I watch what you do and trust me, I pick up on every little thing...

Because I lack introverted thinking, it's difficult for me to logically explain anything. I change my ways of communication with logical types like INTPs. I find those types always need concrete evidence to my abstract thinking. But your test revealed I'm an INTP when I am under stress.
It's the how it works, instead if the why. Like I know the why, then I have to learn the how the concrete, logical factual information lines up to my why. You can learned so much from introverted thinking types, although you can learn from everyone.
I simply can't understand why people aren't true to themselves. Why should you live in a state of self deception? Don't you know your deceiving yourself and living a lie. My opinion only.
