"Most introverted extrovert". I think it depends what makes sense to us logically and how developed our Fe is...
Or how much time we spend in our heads and observing the social atmosphere rather than interacting in it. As a home-schooled kid coming into high school, I was definitely much more of a quiet observer to begin with... and I also had better grades. But once I decided to start talking with classmates... Ne took the proverbial wheel.
Stimulating conversations! Playful banter! Bad grades!
The way I see it, and I think this would apply to other ENTPs and people in general, it's where your priorities lie. If you want to become more socially extroverted, outgoing and confident, you'll learn ways to and experiment a bit. I think experience is the main teacher with this one, just try using some Fe and see how it goes. Take mental notes, especially if you're one of them textbook argumentative types lol.
If you prioritise seeking truth, information, or just your own individual hobbies, then it makes sense you won't want to socialise as much and spend more time pursuing time alone. Nothing wrong with either, just a matter of opinion.

Seriously! INTP here, but for me it's more that I can find different interpretations of the question that match up with several different answers. I had this great math class where we could define our own interpretations of the questions and then answer accordingly, and we were graded on the consistency between the two parts. @H G you might be ENTP. Its not a matter of social intra or extroversion. As an ENTP I don't fall into the social butterfly category but rather its a matter or intra or extroverted thinking. Do you like thinking within established logical frameworks or outside of established logical frameworks. Do you respect the established way of doing things and think from a default position of how can I work within this system to make it better or do you think from a position of fuck this system i wanted to break it apart and mould something better out of nothing (a bit extreme but you get the idea)
To put it in filmmaking terms. If you're trying to become a filmmaker and your first instinct is i want to work my way up to being the CEO of Warner Bros and make them the best studio on the planet you're more likely INTP if you're thinking is I want to create my own studio out of nothing and make it the best studio on the planet you're more likely ENTP. Either way there's good characteristics for both.

Ahahaha, you got me! Just glad the cops didn't...
But if they did, I suppose I could play the "colourblind" card, right? Does that apply to pedestrian crossing lights?
Jokes and traumatic past experiences aside, I do spend a little bit of time calculating the risks associated with breaking a rule, but usually no more than a few seconds... Like the light...
Obviously this will mean I gleam over some of the detail and accuracy that my introverted friend would more likely absorb, but hey, would they have had enough time to make it through that traffic light and over that exhilarating speed bump? We really need more speed-bumps with built in sounds when you go over them.
Overused analogy (and of course that's all it is lol), but I'm sure it was helpful.
It also depends on the circumstances. If it's one of those unspoken rules or social phenomena that the questioning of would be considered taboo, and as such there's no threat-level risk associated with it, I'll most likely just kick it in the guts and dump it in a trashcan like the artificial garbage it is.

I feel like I can relate to both aspects of ENTP and INTP. I’ve taken over 6 different variations of tests over an interval gap of 3-5 days atleast 30 times now, and frequently fluctuate between INTP or ENTP. All cognitive functions tests and I only go for the most “accurate” tests. In all my tests, my Ti and Ne are almost always EQUAL…. And my Fe is only slightly higher than my Si with my Se being weakest. Though I resonate with a lot of INTP I also resonate a lot with ENTP characteristics… especially with being able to socialize and connect with people. I am very much capable of that and have been since I was in high school, I just willingly choose to distance myself from people because I find them annoying. I also think primarily through a logical lens, and don’t really make decisions based on personal values… which I don’t really have many personal values now that I think about it. I am very understanding and always argue both sides of an argument. I like understanding things in depth, however, and love to learn for the sake of learning. Ultimately, I’m left unsure of what type I truly am

In the socionics system, INTPs have what is known as "blindspot Se" meaning that it's technically their worst function. It's also referred to as the polr function. There is a video somewhere on the channel titled something like "16 types worst function". It might be worth checking that one out and seeing which worst function is most applicable to you. Look up and understand the concepts of 1st and 3rd function looping, being in the grip of your inferior function, demon functions, and your blind spot/worst function (which surprisingly isn't your demon function).
Your weaknesses will show you the answer when your preferences won't.
INTP's tend to be the most introverted of the introverts (only close match is INTJ's) and also tend to be the most "absent minded" and will often get called out by their friends and peers when they zone out and everyone else in conversing. Why? Because our function loop is Ti and Si, so since Ti requires introverted thinking we will get sucked into thinking about something that's happened in the past (Si) or a problem that needs solving, and will have a blank look on our face like we're high or a yogi in mahasamadhi.
ENTP's loop is different; it's Ne looping with Fe. Here's a good explanation I found for them:
When ENTPs get in a loop, they chase after ideas but they're also easily swayed by outside opinion. They get stuck in idea-generation and buzz from the people around them without accepting input from their thinking side

God, ENTP makes so much sense!
I've genuinely been angry with exam feedback because I do psychology and you need such specific things in your answers. Heck, wording things slightly wrong can turn your potential A grade into an F. Misunderstand a question a bit so you mention stuff which is slightly what isn't being asked for? You clearly know nothing about psychology.
Like, "Explain how the psychodynamic approach explains personality".
There are multiple psychodynamic theories which explain personality in my course. So I assume I have to broadly talk about all of them.
Well, no. The question was secretly asking for a detailed (ew) explanation on one single theory. But you have to guess what that theory is.
So, I accidentally showed more knowledge than I was supposed to, and got no marks for my answer. Great. :)
And yes, screw feeling comfortable on choosing your values instead of changing like the weather.

Most tests are designed to have cherry picked answers to begin with.
If you can't be predictable with how you respond by the groaning lectures and show uniquely seperate understandings of the topic, it'll be unmarked.
The world revolves around simple answers and conclusions because most people don't care about the nuances.
For teachers it's easier for them to lecture than actually teach. Most teachers are just over glorified preachers.

I dont have a favourite in anything... i dont understand how people can even have a "favourite" something ,it feels too limiting... and usually i have a lot of "things" that I like in "X" category ... and also a lot of things i dislike in it... usually i can explain the reasons why i like or dislike them
Just being asked "whats is your favourite X" is not enough to make me anrgy , but if you fail to understand my way of thinking and are unwilling to listen to my explanation as to what my way of thinking actually is , I will get annoyed

this is all bs.. intps aren’t a more ‘rigid’ version of entp but a more deep one
entps focus on bouncing their ideas off of people, and getting others’ reactions to them
they want others to praise them for being so called creative, and therefore try snd say anything interesting that comes to mind
however, once this thing/thought has been said, they simply move on to the next, hence their extraversion-
who mainly wants to share with others, not always going very deep and being much more surface level in where the thoughts came from
intps think more about their own personal ideas and creations, all branching off from the crazy thing of a brain within their heads
long term projects, acquiring skills, mastering or being the absolute best at something is more interesting to them, since they value these things internally, and aren’t focused on what other people think
they would never want others to ruin their beautiful, inner world, and thus would rather think more freely to themselves in secret, hence the introversion
their dreams in life are theirs
intps impress people without constantly trying to

It seems to me that the type of personality can change according to the mood. Like what kind of cognitive functions are there? For entp and intp, they are the same, only they stand in a different sequence. So what prevents a intp who has had a good night's sleep on a day off, who has cleaned his teeth and washed his head since morning, who has eaten normally and is fastidious, who has understood the importance of human relationships in our biological form of social beings, from simply taking and...
    *bang*
    turn into an entp.
After all, the 16 personality types of Maers-Briggs are just a theory based on how people behave in a given situation. Extrovert/introvert, sensory/intuitive, thinking/feeling, planning/adapting - all this is variable. Yes, someone likes to communicate more, someone less. Someone plans more, someone less. This is what the personality type is built on. But all this is so relative that sometimes it ceases to make sense.
In general, to all Maers-briggs fanatics who cannot stop typing everything in a row, I will give advice: "pay attention not to one of the specific 16 personality types, but to one of 4: I forgot what the names are, in short, purple, green, blue and yellow." Because the types of personalities within these four differ so little and depend on such relative and variable things that it's just silly to try to meticulously pinpoint one of the sixteen.
(changed) I am an analitic who has tried to define my personality type unambiguously. And sorry for google translate.

Out of curiosity I took the test for the third time last night (half a sleep mind you) and I got INTP. The interesting part is that in highschool I was INTP, but when I was in college I turned ENTP according to the test. I had more social situations where I had to be quite involved for several years. After that and things quieted down in my life, I guess I moved back into introversion. So I inference that that E and I factor may be subject to change throughout ones life. Not that other parts couldn't, but that seems like the most fluid one.

Chaos is ultimately what drains me, in fact its that element of social interaction that forces me to leave and recharge, which is why I can talk one on one for hours now or get energized coming out of philosophy class. The issue isn't people, it's external stimuli. I So clearly I'm not an ENTP. Problem solved. Thanks for keeping it simple.

ENTP: Loves debate and exploration of ideas. Less interested in settling down into a fixed conclusion.
INTP : Not really interested in debate but very interested in the exploration and more importantly codification of ideas in their head. More comfortable with settling into a fixed view regarding the functioning of the universe.

It makes me restless that there is a system for people and it might not excite me anymore if I get to understand it. So I'm watching videos like with this lingering anxiety). I found myself being comforted by the idea that phenomenon that involves humans and their behavior are something that cannot be fully systematized, bit by bit. Hence I calm myself by just telling myself that there are great amount of things left to be known and will never run out of things to discover as new things will emerge out of all the existing things. I go by this quote that says "life gets boring when you stay within the limits of what you already knew"(The exploration on the understanding of things and ideas in this material world) YET sometimes, I also go by this one as well, "Meaning makes a great many things endurable -perhaps everything" (Maybe this one gives me comfort when my Ti Ne suddenly gets hit by my Si and makes me overwhelmed) These 2 really give me a pat on the back. The concept that there is the unknown and the unexplored, that there's a lot of things to live for -to keep knowing, to keep on understanding ⊂(´・◡・⊂ )∘˚˳°

I don't really know much about the subconscious and I know that the MBTI/Jungian/analytical psychology community often disagree with each other. But for those who consider the subconscious to be a thing, then an INTP behaving like an ESFJ in certain situations would be a normal thing and that would contrast to your explanation about INTP's vs ENTP's. What do you think?

Nevertheless I also understand your point since ESFJ-INTP and ISFJ-ENTP have an analogous relationship with their respective dominant functions. I think that all types enters their "subconscious"("subconscious" since the cognitive functions in question are in the "EGO" ("self" in Latin) in other words still "awaken"(because the said function are just "flipped") in certain emotional states EXEMPLI•GRATIA; when a type choose to (for any reason (conscious or not (even though I'm not quite sure how can someone do that actively...))) use their inferior function (or (to have a)/(to be) on the "grip" of it). It's all about integration/self development my friend ;) !

    @isabella16939 Před 3 lety +7

Assuming you actually have both Ti (introverted thinking) and Ne (extroverted Intuition) as your dominant functions (which you probably don't, but whatever), it just comes down to the gap between those 2 functions and their opposite versions (so Extroverted Feeling/Fe and Introverted Sensing/Si). If you can conclude the gap between your Ne and Si is bigger than the gap between your Ti and Fe, then you're an ENTP (ENTP's Ti and Fe functions are relatively balanced). On the other hand, if the gap between your Ti and Fe is bigger than the gap between your Ne and Si (so your Ne and Si is more balanced), then you're an INTP.
If you want an anecdote to latch on to, usually an INTP's life problems are centered around the relationship between themselves and the people around them, due to the imbalance between their Ti (self) and Fe (tribe). Prioritizing your identity (Ti), which in this case is based on reasons/logic over other people's values (Fe) would usually lead to some people hating you, obviously. On the other hand, an ENTP will have more problems with stuff/things (so things like deadline, conspiracy, freedom, or their unorganized closets) due to the imbalance between their Ne and Si. I mean, you can imagine that wanting to search for patterns all the time, but refusing to organize the facts/sensory first would lead to something not very good.
