Don't tell me it's too early to talk about .... they cannot re-sign Mitch, especially to the $12.5M per contract he is already demanding. Or if they do, it has to be a sign and trade for a goalie and d-man or draft picks. What few people realize is that Leafs are done for the next 10 years having traded away all of their picks and not being able to re-sign Marner. Yes JT is leaving, but you still have to replace him. Domi played great as far as Iâm concerned. He played with passion heart and with a good physical presence. I know he took a bad penalty but he still played hard. Letâs hope some other key players step up their game Monday night.
ok guys from toronto... I am being honest. The buds started out ok. They seemed like they were very enthusiatic and they were taking it to boston. However - they were too eager that they checked themselved into giving away a key breakaway and boston scored. The goalie (send a prayer for him) samsonov honestly did a decent job in the first period. But then they left. They also had bad luck, that breakaway should have been by some other player, the post by austin m. really really unlucky. There are two thing that make play off hockey , one effort and second luck. The leafs put in a decent effort to have that scored at least closed down to 1-0 by the end of the first. But really really bad luck which could have swung the momentum to their favour with a 1-1 equalizer that should have come but never came. I dont believe it will happen honestly. I think they are a team that do not show up fully dress for play off hockey. Samsonov did a decent job. But unortuantely he is not a goalie that IMO will carry the team with showstopping saves and demoralized the other team and give the momentum back to the buds. It is a joke to the leafs. I am calling this series like Boston in 6.. I was far too nice in thinking that the leafs had any grit like the good old teams of sundin , steve thomas, igor koralev with feliz potvin and curtis joseph. That team had two 70 pointers and the rest were mediocre players in terms of points. But they played well as a unit. So I am sorry, how is that team with better goalies and mid point scorers but better team play better than a team of super overtly paid superstars with 3 over 70 pointers and several 40 - 50 pointers and yet they can't even score 2 goals. No thanks. They need a superstart goalie and mediocre players to play as a unit. This series is over. 4-1 or 4-2 for the Bruins. The buds should have scored at least 2 -3 goals. They are never going to go to past the first round with efforts like that and that type of luck. Goodbye rac st whte annex people, raci s t st george plp , yorkville etc etc etc (hoods from toronto that I dont like). Go boston GO. Go rangers go!!!
Matthews flat out missed an empty net, nothing unlucky about it. Sharp angle, sure, but it also wasn't THAT sharp, especially if you're the so-called greatest goal scorer in the last two decades. He has to bury that, period.
Boston, 3 posts and 1 cross bar. Talking about unlucky ...
No Leaf's goaltending again, means out in four.
Even before the game started Toronto got drawn into a macho man contest - the stupid slashing by Domi. Exactly what Boston wanted.
