How to Fix Wrong Screen Size - Windows

I shut down my Dell laptop computer, and when I restarted it, there were annoying black strips / black bars on either side of my screen. I went into control panel - display to try to change the resolution or something but nothing worked. I say that other people on the internet also had similar problems in the discussion forums, but there was no solution. This video show how to fix that annoying problems of black strips cause by the screen being improperly sized.

Go to search bar- type "display".
Click "change system display settings
At the bottom click "advanced display settings"
Then hit "display adapter properties for display 1"
Click the "monitor" tab.
It says screen refresh rate:
-change it from 60 hertz to 75 hertz

Right click then click resolution then try each one. But if u don’t want to do that go into settings go on resonlution then change it

Thanks. helped. Even though I just had to install graphics card's free downloadable software. Then, the app automatically installed latest drivers for my graphics card. So didn't have to change any settings, in properties.👍😀

I used to run into that all the time. There is another way to do it but I've been using this dumb ass Windows 10 Pro, which has all it's own night mares all it's own. Back to your Windows 7. If I remember right, Windows & the other companies that had software installed on those PC's added that feature because there were still a lot of laptops & notebooks that didn't have wide screens. I know that the software was also for other reasons but that was one of the reasons for the different width screen selection. It may have been for some sort of document reader adjustment setting. Great video anyways, even though I was searching for something else.
