    The Sport 110 is by far my favorite Buck of all time. I love the heft and the feel of the micarta and am sooo geeked that they used better steel. This knife is done right. Love it!!!

    Using a knife is or should be a deliberate act, so I don't mind the "harder to close" action. It actually self teaches some knife safety for newbies, just go slow and never rush using a knife. Plus a LOT of the easy flippers just fall apart after time. Yes they are cool to flip in front of your buddies, but as a tool, for me just don't hold up. These are great tools and an awesome job on this video.

      Right. “Hard to break in” equals a durable knife long term.

    Grew up with a Buck 110 and always just rotated it in my hand so it was tip down and pushed the spine what I had been working on already. I will be grabbing one of these for sure!

    Just got a new 112 light weight. Love it, it's holding an edge even after abuse. Nice and thin and the clip point is great for a multitude of tasks. For 15$ it's a good beater for work.

    One of my first knives (about 20 years ago) was a Buck 110. Loved it. Still love it. As a large EDC it just works for me. Although various versions have come along they haven't interested me. Then came the sport version. Bought it and also love it but with a couple of minor points - 1) Like you I find the thumb stud placement occasionally annoying would be better back towards the plunge or remove them but not a deal breaker. 2) Pricing is a bit high. I get it - but I did hesitate purchase because of $$$.

    i was excited to try the trx slim .. got one few month back.. so much blade play.. no pivot nothing.. no washers.. not even nylon.. to get the blade to not wobble you have to tighten it so much you can't open the knife.. i'm sorry buck this is trash in today's market.. i wanted to love it..

    • @birdman6499
      @birdman6499 Před 2 lety +1

      My buddy got one and the thumb stud wobbled. He superglued it and plenty of blade play. Their tolerances suck and I hope they read this. A 20.00 cheap Byrd knife from china. No blade play. My theory is if you want a good buck knife you have to get a fixed blade. Just telling it like it is. Want to like them but they make it difficult.

    Just bought the 112 sport and I ordered the 110 sport as well (they are hard to get here in Spain), I love the blade on the sport better as the trx. I've got also the 110 and 112 slim select and both, 110 and 112 classic. I love the the micarta but I have to say the classic feels better, rounder and a "warmer" feeling. But great knives, all of them.

  • @ORflycaster
    @ORflycaster Před rokem +1

    The combo that works for me is a 110 original in a leather sheath, and a cheap 112 slim as a lightweight beater carried deep in the pocket without the clip. I haven't found another folder yet that feels as good in my hands as the original 110, and carrying it on my belt just means more room in my pocket for other daily carry stuff. The 112 Ranger loses feel and blade length faster than it does weight, so I prefer the 110. The 112 slim (the cheap plastic one) is short, slim, light and cheap. It rides well in my pocket, and I wish it was available with a nail notch rather than thumb stud. Just my two pesos......

    I don’t understand why Buck can’t make a decision on the thumb stud placement they’re all the place depending on model . Seems like it cut manufacturing time to standardize the studs across the line . 110/112 slim select have it behind the plunge grind where it should be but other models don’t it makes no sense whatsoever.

    Sadly as much as I love bucks and collect them, my 112 slim select and 112 pro trx both are out for warranty. First knives I’ve ever sent in. 112 select thumb studs just popped off flicking it open, and then I could audibly hear my trx in my pocket when I walked due to the blade being so loose. Aaron I actually would compare buck s30v to Spydeco vg10 and I’d go as far as say that bucks s30v does not feel all that different from their rather well done 420hc. @@eyeofthetiger4184 good chatting with you again. I’m convinced something changed which is good. I got the 841 sprint when it was just released at bass pro shops 2+ yrs ago. I believe it was one of the first models buck released with s30v. If you’re familiar it has a very thin tip. I forgot what I was doing but I managed to bend the tip. I thought “huh, shouldn’t it have broke?” . I just chalk it up to the batch, s30 is a great steel. Be well.

      @@joshuaasbill3131 Good chatting with you too Josh, if I may call you that, (we shorten everything over here, lol)..
      Anyway, I did have to look up the 841 and yes I have seen it before. As much as I love the traditionals, I reckon Buck and others are wise to offer other choices.
      Well, better to bend than break I guess, though that is quite surprising with the fine tip in S30. I often wonder how exact, or at least consistent, the HT process actually is.
      There has been many a time where reviews and others experiences have not aligned with my own observations. Sure there's a lot of variables, but seems to me the HT is often the common denominator.

    G'day Aaron, I wouldn't be disappointed with any of these, the whole line up, past and present are simply good tools and not every folder needs to be one handed deployment/close IMO; though certainly an issue for those with limited, or no, use of their other hand.
    Would be great to see a clip conversion kit, (with c/sunk screws) for the "fat" clip.
    I have a DLT LE 110 in S35, (blade centering is out but doesn't rub, thankfully), do you know if the LEs are to continue ? or perhaps these new models make that practice somewhat redundant.

    I only stopped carrying because I didn't wear a belt so it was a pain. When pocket clips came out I carried spyderco but the clips fell off.
    Anyway I carry a coldsteel but they are my favorite I'd love a American lock back. I don't carry liner or frame failures.
    I think I'd like the ranger. Thickness doesn't bother me. I like everything about it.

    Feels like we waited so long for this it has lost a lot of relevance..
    I am a huge 112 fan too but this aluminum crap sucks. Huge step down from brass and nickel! The only reason i would buy this is it would be easy to make it some killer scales but I would sand the black coating off before carrying it. And put better thumbstuds on too.. As a knife company Buck should know better than to put that big black thumb stud on a raw steel blade..wow! That alone makes it look cheap to me..Super let down with this one but I’m going to check out the custom shop and see if they offer this pocket clip on the customs now.

    Why such gigantic and unnecessary thumb stud🤦🏼‍♂️. Painfully and slowly getting there, Buck😐. All of these shoulda been sweet, however, always leaving some flaw or something to be desired. And that’s just to get in the game to compete with other folders.
    Maybe next year will be the year that I buy a Buck folder again. But we’re still not there yet

    The Bible literally talks bad about the United States the Bible prophecies about the United States calling it the two horned beast.
