Buck 110 Knife Review. New Pro & Select with clips compared to the original

  • One of the most iconic pocket or belt knives has to be the Buck 110. In this review I compare the new for 2018 Pro and Select Lightweight Hunter Folding blades. Translated, these two new slim knives are less that half the weight of the original, and they have swappable pocket clips. This video compares all three to the original and also the Benchmade Crooked River and CR Mini. You'll also see the Spyderco Endura 4, the Byrd Cara Cara 2, and the Benchmade Bugout. I give my thoughts about QC, some blade play, and baton them.

      Russian make some super good, low priced steel cased ammunition.. and us real americans... Will always love you guys for it... Also we are exceedingly in your debt for mikhail kalashnikov... And we rank this man among equals to john browning , eugene stoner, samuel colt, and john garand.... And dont worry , depite our governments, we aint got no hate toward everyday russians.

    The Original 110’s weigh is totally useful, it substantially increases the injury potential when throwing it at your foes!

    Out of my entire collection ( and I do have many ), my EDC , almost everyday since the 80’s , has been the trusty 110 .
    Owned quite a few over the past 40 or so odd years .
    Either I lost one - sold one - traded one - broke one - had one Confiscated, and yet I always wind up with another .
    ( I just wish I had my original and it makes me wonder if it is still out there somewhere).
    And at home , when I need a package opened or something, I use the Buck 55 ( it’s little brother ).
    Have used that over and over for a year or 2 and it’s Still Factory Sharp .
    Very sharp at that .
    Such a great video ❤️🤠🔪

I have a model 110 which I purchased over 35 years ago from the same military base and never could get it sharpened correctly, and neither could anyone else I knew who claimed to know how to sharpen knives. I purchased a Japanese knife while at the last base before retiring and was looking like the Buck 110, but was easy to sharpen and held it's edge.

The 440HC May wear out in 37 years vs 43 of the pro, but I ma ok with that because My beloved Buck 110 that I got for Christmas last year will always hold a special place for me, in may dresser drawer because it so freak awesome... all 37 lbs of brass, steel and wood. I gotta say, I prefer the classic (for now), only because I am sort of an older fart who grew up when the heavy 110 was the go-to for almost anyone, except us "po folks." I'm gonna buy myself one now that I'm all growed up and can afford to buy one for myself. I have a spydie I really like and carry everyday, and I even inherited a 110 from my dad, BUT he had a very odd way of sharpening his knives in such a way as to ruin the blade... he had to have used a cinder block on this one. But hey, I'm pretty sure it will cut ceiling tile pretty well.

Thought being that it's light enough to put in the pocket of my fixed blade Ontario SP51 or RD7 sheath for camping and backpacking. I did score the aluminum bolster 110 with drop point and pocket clip from Copper and Clad out of Missouri. All my Benchmade and "super steel" knives I've collected over the years just sit in a drawer now. I often shoot and write these separately, that was the last shot after I had most of the review finished. I hesitate to call a lock failure because of batoning an issue. It's there for the viewer to make their own determination... if that's a big deal to you then I would avoid it. By the way, all those pieces of wood were different levels of hardness.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  Před 4 lety

      This is a misnomer that is propagated over lack of awareness of types and qualities of polymer handles. Never ever have I had a legit FRN or GFN handle break on me- the “plastic” this handle is made out of. However over the years the parts that have failed on knives are made from metal. I have had aluminum handles crack, soft screws strip... once I broke a blade. Let me ask you this? Ever had any small or large metal parts break on you over the years? Not even on knives. Ever break a screw? Parts of door handles? Ever seen brass break? I have. So no, I don’t agree with you. If I had to wager on guess of the part of the 110 most likely to break... It’d probably be the pivot. While plastic does break... so does metal.

The modern glass laced chew causes one to get cotton mouth faster when they go hit the everclear. smokes and chaw are 2 very different delivery systems. give him the benefit of the doubt he chops wood starts fires drinks from a mason jar among other things smokes cusses likes beer knows his jackets knives flashlights as well as backpacks and satchels

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  Před 5 lety

      The Buck 110 is cheap! I hesitate to dabble in cheap Chinese knives as much as I used to. I don't mind Chinese knives at all, however trying to navigate through what is and isn't a clone of another knife is hard for me. I try and avoid clones nowadays, just to avoid all the stupid arguments they generate. I'll look into some rough riders, and some cheaper international knives too... I mean this year I did that video where I reviewed quite a few cheap international knives. Many under $20.

    • @Drownedinblood
      @Drownedinblood Před 5 lety +2

      Oh I know, I got one I use around the house and food prep, yet to touch deer. It's alright if you want to avoid Chinese knives cuz of the clone debate. It's why I'm recommending Rough Rider, since it seems like these are the clones people are ok with because people will complain about a similar blade shape or a hole in modern designs, but when your whole knife is cloned by several companies who just basically stick their logo and accompanying QC standards to it, that's just becoming a "pattern".
