I just discovered this. It really reminds me of years ago, when I made the mistake of buying a knife without asking my dad his opinion. He was hurt and insulted.. while I did much research and settled on a Benchmade.. when I told him I was going to buy it he had to bring out his 30-40 year old Schrade and Buck knives to prove his knife wisdom was above mine. Weeks later he apologized, admired my knife and laughed that his ego got the better of him. He went and bought a dope Benchmade that suited his needs and loves it.

A loveley modern take on an old favourite. Design, aesthetics and materials are much improved and the lightness compared to the original is a definate bonus. The crowning glory for this knife though is clearly that excellent pocket clip. Wide enough not to dig into the hand during use, short enough not to be too obvious during every day carry and the 'proud' retention screws ensure that the knife will never fall out of the pocket. That lovely anvil logo cut into it is the icing on the cake. Absolute genius from the Buck design team.

I think I’m an outlier on the clip, but I actually love it. It works really well, it’s super robust (weak point on some knives), and I find the aesthetic kind of works for a nod to the old school heritage. Excellent knife though. I’ve owned so many knives over the years and it’s one of my favorites if not my favourite even over all the fancier more modern stuff.

Great review. I still have my Dad’s old Buck 110 from the early eighties. It’s a great knife, but definitely a belt carry only piece. If I am going to belt carry I’d rather have a fixed blade. This seems like a step in the right direction towards a modern iteration of this knife, but it still seems they have a ways to go. The benchmade crooked river variants would be my choice if I wanted a modern variation of this style.

I bought two Bucks on sale this passed Xmas for the steel and the Paul Bos heat treat , CPM 20CV and CPM-154 , PAUL BOS is definitely carrying this company ,I wouldn't buy anything from Buck without his name on the blade. They must be Blowing him to keep him around , imagine if he went to Benchmade or ZT , he would make his already good name HUGE . You should do a series on the P Bos heat treated steels, that would be awesome ..

They must have scraped him with their teeth because Paul Bos retired in 2011. He still owns Paul Bos heat treat but Paul Farner runs it. He uses old Bos recipes, but for new steels (like your 20cv) it's a Farner recipe. Bos is in his 80's now.

The pigeons are needing free condom distribution. Always funny to watch non Americans doing American accents. Lots of us Americans can be obnoxious about "made in the USA" for sure. The only place I won't buy a knife from is Communist China, although many other products are only made in China, so we're stuck. I would love to look at knives made in Australia or Canada, if they existed. Pete, loved the video. What the hell was that mustache made out of? Was that white cheddar cheese?

Great stuff mate. Kind of surprised you didn’t really talk about the action though. I just gave a 112 slim pro to my uncle for xmas. It wasn’t up to my knife wanker standards but he loved it.

      Maybe i missed it.
I hope listens to feedback and makes the couple small changes that would make the 110 and 112 slim pros outstanding.
