Part 2: • The Biggest Gamble in ...
Part 3: • Hard work isn't always...
Chapters:
00:00 - Intro
2:30 - Classical
11:16 - Deft
19:00 - Faker
26:19 - Pawn
35:17 - Little Brother
42:48 - Worlds
51:57 - ... - Hry
When you get to the Deft section and start seeing the comparisons and differences between the two already from the beginning you realise how utterly insane this whole storyline is and how 2022 Worlds could not have been more perfect, as an esports story in general.
Opposite sides of the SoloQ ladder
Opposite sides of the river
Opposite sides of their debut
Both dropped out
Both relegated to a sister team for a more veteran player
Both carry roles
It's insane
@@knpark2025 I have no idea what Riot was thinking when they created that Star Walkin MV xDD. 3 Robots and tons of random ass players aside from the main 3 characters. They tried to do something new and failed miserably and that's probably why they reverted to the old formula.
😢😢😮😮😊
Funny how deft was described as easily getting “tilted” in his earlier stage, only to have developed the fortitude of a mountain.
That's exactly why he's so unshakable now. He worked hard to overcome that problem in his mental game, and built a strong foundation.
Just like back in the day people used to trash Faker's Azir and how SKT had to sub in Easyhoon to ensure they could manage the pick when it was OP in S5, but now it's the most played champion in his career and a signature pick. It became his champion so much that newer players don't even know that the SKT Azir skin is from Easyhoon and not Faker.
As I reached the end of this video, I realized that this was part 1 of 5?! GBAY out here creating magic once again.
Me discovering this is PART 1 OF 5 thanks to this comment
Literally said part 1/5 three times in the beginning of the video
@@korewest When I first watched the video I thought it meant part 1/5 of the video and not part 1/5 of a whole series
@@korewest I was very surprised that I missed it.
Just saw it on description
Thank you very much to anyone who takes the time to watch this video in it's entirety. I hope you're all looking forward to the rest of the series :)
Been waiting for this Deft documentary for over a years thank you for making this Gbay ❤
Absolutely! Unparalleled quality and effort in your documentaries man, thanks for making these.
Been watching your vids since 2013 and you never disappoint! Banger of a video, and can't wait for the rest of the series!
When do we get pt 2,3,4 and 5?
Goatbay99 W
Watching this as someone that got into League at the same time as both Faker and Deft started their careers is so nostalgic
i remember watching both of them during middle school, now im 26 with a job lol , seems unreal
...and you're still silver. -s
Bro thinks he's one of them.
Thanks for making these.
Thank you so much for the support
Deft's story is the most underdog story I've ever heard. This is truly worthy of a documentary
Bro Deft and Faker made the stories of their lifetime. And they broke the Retirement Age for esports players as well.
Worlds 2022. Deft and DRX just ran the most impossible looking gauntlet ever ran. Beating his Old Teammates and Rivals in the process. Probably the greatest underdog Run in any esports competition.
Worlds 2023. Faker came back to T1 in summer after his injuries and saved T1's Regular Season and proceed to qualify for Worlds, they then proceed to ROFLStomp probably the best teams LPL has ever produced. Legit everyone keep undermining T1's 2023 run cuz "LPL underperformed" bro LPL Overperformed, other than facing each other the LPL Teams Gapped everyone. It's just T1 is the perfect anti-LPL Team ever cuz they never fell victim to the LPL Scrappy Fights at Worlds(lookin at you GEN).
If you watch LPL at all and said LPL "overperformed" then graduate from fantasy dreams please. T1 curated and imposed their own meta and teams couldn't adapt, stop making it sound sure fire that T1 was gonna win this year from the start.
@@pinkocean310 I wasn't. So you agree that LPL Overperformed yeah? The moment they faced T1 their Team fighting prowess and forcing scrappy fights never worked. No one is saying T1 will win this worlds from the start that was bullshit.
I don't think DRX's gauntlet even matches T1's own Gauntlet this year. LPL this year looked perfect. JDG most of all looked like the absolute best team that could match Gen G. in terms of dominance and Team Comp in general. T1 although far from being favorites cannot be called underdogs this year in their run.
@@skrattaoppar9753 If "Team fighting prowess and forcing scrappy fights" are all you can say about the 4 LPL teams then this cannot be a productive conversation. Agree to disagree.
@@Fbai69696 Dark horse would be the term you're looking for.
I thought that it's weird he never mentioned anything about Deft's 1st or Faker's 4th World Champion title(s), but totally forgot that this has 5 fucking parts 💀Really look forward to the next part, this was so enjoyable i didnt skip a single second
Never change gbay
2022:Deft's redemption arc
2023: Faker's LCK savior arc
Both are legend of their own. Deft and his DRX co. probably created one of best world final we ever seen that crushed Faker and T1 which in that time are their prime (except T1 in 2022 are being second both international title and 2022 summer final). But 1 years later Faker and his same T1 co. Save lck from getting humiliated in their hometown. By being only lck team remaining in knockout stage and slap all lpl team in their path to world champion(BLG in swiss, LNG in quarters, JDG in semifinal and of course WBG in 3-0 dominated fashion)
Hard fought and defeated T1, not crushed
otherwise curshing them means dominating them with a disparing gap
The final fight at the elder with the Teleports was so close on a thread that either team that had the small edge would have won. DRX made the correct decisions like targeting Oner first then finishing elder Dragon then trying to simultaneously recall following T1's backdoor TP's to prevent T1 from ending while DRX all pushed mid to end
@@shinjimirou928I think crushed meaning stomped the hopes of T1 taking the World's cup.
@@Fbai69696 but that would mean adding more context cuz your definition cannot go without saying "crushed the hopes" of T1
without adding hope it just looks like they got dominated out of context
Deft barely beat Faker, it's not "crushed" when he wasn't even the carry in the whole worlds 2022 series. Deft won when Faker was 1 game away from winning worlds, Faker almost clean wiped LPL off worlds 2023 for his 4th title when Deft didn't even end up top 8.
Deft is not a legend, he is not comparable to Faker and he will never be, I'm literally so sick of Deft fans praising him just because he got lucky once.
@@maymaymyonmyon Idk why people so underrated Deft even with all of the title he has earned for his entire career. I don't agree with the word "crushed" but don't agree with the winning of DRX in W22 was lucky either. DRX become the better team at that time, that's all. They have to go all the way from play-in til finals. winning EDG and seed 1 LCK - GEN not just with the word "lucky" to say. In my opinion be respect to DRX equal be respect to T1, cuz they gave us a greatest final of all time :)
I've watched the first section about the beginnings of Faker multiple times already because it's surreal to see the ranking screenshots while knowing where he ends up. So cool
I love all your documentaries. I started watching them earlier this year, and it is because of you that I am so much more interested in LoL esports. Your storytelling and narrative makes it so compelling for me to listen to and get enthralled in all these stories, and just made me realize how emotional some of them are.
I can't wait for the rest of this documentary because I know I'm gonna be tearing up by the end. Cheers!
This documentary is perfection. Thank you Gbay you are an absolute legend. I hope it gets millions of views.
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!! GBAY NEVER MISSES
Probably one of the best content I’ve seen for a long time. Cannot wait for part 2
This is incredible!! your channel is home to some of the best storytelling in esports that i've ever seen, i've never been too invested in league as a scene but speding these last months watching your videos, which always covered other stories aside from the main names that we've come to recognize makes seen this one the end of years of buildup to finally talk about the two most important players that it feels this game has ever had, congratulations on part 1 and i hope nothing but the best from what remains, a salute from a fighting game fan that has become invested in this scene thanks to your work!! :)
Hey Gbay I just want to say huge thank you for making these kinds of documentaries. I'm not the kind of person who leaves a reaction to videos often but this is definitely one of the cases that I do
I'm so grateful for these documentaries that you put so much time and effort in. As a player who has been around League since late S1/Start S2 it's so incredibly nostalgic to see all these videos about 'the good old days'. Hearing you talk so passionate about old League just gives me goosebumps from start to finish. Especially the start where you build up the story and set the sence and then at the end where you wrap things up and set up for the next video or next great story.
Also a very underappreciated thing worth mentioning about this and alot of your other videos is how easy accesible it is. For me it is ofcourse easy to watch because I know League and watched all these tournaments. But I always ask my girlfriend to watch these documentaries with me. My girlfriend never played a single video game in her life and only knows about League from watching me play. And now also from your doc's. She just enjoys it so much to listen to you talk about the nostalgia, the greatness of the players and the passion that you have for the game and the competitive scene.
You are a big reason why I can share so much League passion with my girlfriend so thank you SO much for that
Much love from the Netherlands
When i started watching and it said a 5 part documentary I thought it was 5 chapters cuz 50 mins is pretty long, after the end i realized holy shit its really 1st video of 5. Very well done documentary GBAY. Thanks for the vid.
gbay documentaries never disapoint
nice job! 💯
I’ve been looking forward to this series for so long!!! Great video as always Gbay. You have really re-ignited my love for pro league that I had when I was younger. These last 2 world championships have been outstanding, and I would not have been as invested if not for your vids
Incredible series. Gaming history really needs the whole story like this 👍
Gbay uploads this. I see it. I subscribe, because this is next level content, especially when a 52 minute documentary is just part one. Love it!
This is awesome!!!! Excited for part 2!!!
This was insanely well done. Can't wait for part 2
Love your content! I could watch an entire season of these league rivalries.
This video is so good. The story telling, the editing, everything. I need part 2
Amazing series so far. Love to see these nostalgic moments brought to life once again. Keep up the great work Gbay!!
Thanks Gbay for all that you do. Can't wait to see the rest of this series!
Informational, emotional and excellent as always. Excited for the 4(!) other parts on this wonderful journey. Thanks Gbay
There's so much juice in this story, I'm delighted to see it get a series. Time enough to focus on, and appreciate each pivotal moment. A 5-part series no less, like the best league matches.
So far the story's been told beautifully, well done Gbay!
Can't wait to watch this fully.
Thank you for making this video. I can't wait to see the other parts. This gave me so much nostalgia. I can't believe this is only taking into account of 2 years of their 10+ year career. I have also been reminiscing on the old days after Faker's 4th World title to think about how much I adored the old T1 roster and how I started to loving current iteration of T1 roster when I did not like the 2019-2020 roster in the past.
This video also raises a lot of if's. What would have happened if Pawn never traded spots. What would it be like if Faker kept his old name Classical.
Also, Bengi ganking Faker in 5:45 is such a nice cameo appearance.
Amazing work as always, Gbay. Truly the best storyteller in League. Can't wait for the next part.
Huge grats on 500k, well deserved Gbay! Banger video as always!
I was waiting for it so much, ty gbay99, publish part 2 already !
I love these videos. Even though it was 52 minutes long, it didn't feel like that. You are great at storytelling! Can't wait for the following parts.
This has to be some of the best CZcams based journalism I've seen from a non-media company ever. Great job!
Been wondering why Gbay hadn't uploaded any documentaries in awhile. This one was definitely worth the wait! Looking forward to the next parts!
a lot of other league documentaries leave out pre-league stuff, but never your videos. great work as always. you show the full picture and thats why your documentaries are the best.
This is such a great story telling!! Honestly can not wait for part 2 and the rest!!!!!!!
A banger video. I didn't see it coming as a TBC. Thanks for all the effort you put into this stuff. I love watching them.
This video turned out so great! Looking forward to what's to come 😁
incredible video. i really hope this series will still be made
Your content just keeps getting better Gbay. ❤
The G.O.A.T league story teller is back! Looking forward to the next video of this series!
Bro I cannot waittttt for the rest of this series. I love your documentaries. ❤
You've outdone yourself again, Gbay! Great first part and I am looking forward to all that is coming. You are the best League of Legends content creator by a landslide!
I am so happy everytime you put out content! 1o5 is awesome and i cant wait to see how you paint this wild ride!
holy moly i cant wait for part 2
very good job man
This was so good, I need the second part asap!!!
Man, i love league and i love stories with nice underlaying sounds like this. I just started the documentary but want also thank you for saving this evening for me! Will follow you and already looking forward to any future documentaries from you. Cheers!
Cant wait for the other parts, great opening. Love ya man
i started watching league in 2014 - this brings back so many memories :'). I liked Deft so much because he was a cute alpaca, and Blue's semifinal against White was heartbreaking T_T. I remember Imp had the legendary interview where he started rolling around in the grass too! Love to hate him, he was quite a character.
This is such a thorough and well paced documentary of both Faker and Deft. Can't wait for the rest! Amazing work, always!
Man I can't wait for the next part already!
An amazing start to what will be an amazing series! Can't wait for whats next!
What an amazing Video
Watching this took me back 10 years ago and brought back so many memories.
Thank you Gbay
great content, looking forward to the next part!
im im 5:58 and already love the video, the "skt t1 Faker" username reveal, just wonderful, the soundtrack narration and editing, great job!
awesome man, can't wait for the next part!
Thank you for this video!
This is amazing!
LESGOOOO, worlds 2022 was the first finals I actually watched, and so getting gbay doco is HYYYYPE. Looking forward to the next part(s)!!!
Good stuff as always, Gbay
I liked the video after the intro. It is soooo freaking nice!!! Can't wait for the other parts!
Been waiting for this!
Amazing! Thank you for putting in the time to make this 😃
thanks for always creating such great documentaries about the LOL players! cannot wait for the other parts to come out!! (hopefully very soon)
This is gonna be good. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes.
DAMN gbay another banger
Can't wait for part 2!
looking forward to the next part :)
Amazing work. ❤
This is insane well done!
I watch all your videos and have never played a minute of LoL, you make such compelling stories!
insane storyline considering the character development for deft, going from a tilting player in his early years to an unmovable rock in 2022, just amazingly well written can't wait for other episodes
This is a stellar piece of media. The writing, the editing, such a great complement to the story.
While the rivals story is compelling, I just want them to be friends! 😭
Your documentaries are amazing AF!
Thanks alot for this!
OMG my favorite league history youtuber is back !!!!
I love your work. I don't even play League anymore after 10 years and thousand of hours played, and thousands of hours playing versus the hacking cheaters that plagued that game since season 5. But your Documentary's are just incredible, the best in the business and i've watched them all. I can't wait to see how you tell this full story over time.
Gbay's documentaries are always top notch. Can't wait for the other parts as well, it's always a pleasure to watch ur videos
Dude, I'm still not over worlds22, thanks for these series ❤
Wah this is very detailed. Love that fact that it covers Deft's history too since it goes under the radar for most people cuz of the results in the intl tournaments. Since i watch LCK & LPL regions as well, really feel glad when people put these into consideration as well cuz there really are many amazing stories & players in these regions but unfortunately most people only watches & cares about worlds which is a given but also completely disregards regionals when imo regionals is what actually makes worlds way more interesting & anticipating.
I really love your documentaries. Very nicely done man. Please keep on making more.
new Gbay upload right as im eating my breakfast! Perfect timing!
the madlad's back
2022 was the best worlds imo. I don’t think i’ve watched a better 5 game series since SKT vs ROX.
what a great video. can't wait for the rest of their story.
Please keep doing this I can’t wait
Gbay the goat.... cant wait for tye future parts
I watched this whole video without thinking about how long it was and an hour later it ends with a cliff hanger.
Gbay99 magic at it again.
tbh, I thought the part 1/5 was like part 1 of the video lol.
This is some commercial level docuseries
I love how many great stories are behind these teams and these games. The finals is SSW getting their own redemption as the former "first" team, while ending SSB's cinderella story, and over on the other side of the team getting snuffed out we have Royal with Uzi and inSec, two legends in their own right getting stopped in their tracks.
Great series!
Hey Gb
Saw ur ig post, congratz dawg
Glad u still make vids ive been watching u since road to diamond when i was 14-15ish
Im 23 now 💀
dude you can go to cinemas with these... wow
Great doc Gbay, almost as good as getting 99 Farming.
Please don't stop making these
Insane work Gbay the production quality always makes me feel like I'm watching a multimillion-dollar budget movie.
thank you gbay99
great vid baybay
