Thanks so much for watching part 3 everyone. I'm working on parts 4+5 now although some real life stuff has gotten in the way. I'll try to get them done ASAP. I generally try to keep y'all updated on my instagram story if you'd like to follow me there :) instagram.com/gbaylol/
No problem man. We all got our plates ready, just keep cooking 🧑🍳
Hope everything turns out okay
I LOVE this series. Can't wait for the next installments. First time watching any of your vids but I'm all in now. I watched so many of these matches as a teen-young adult, often staying awake until 6am completely glued to professional play and watching most of pro games played ever, in any region in those years. But at that time, partially because I did not speak Korean and could not follow the main broadcast but largely because I was more interested in gameplay, I watched the content with "Real Life" nameplates off and was not tracking any of the stories. I would also imagine a good number of these details and stories were not even covered in the main broadcasts in Korean or Chinese as so many of the details had not been disclosed and now we have the benefit of hindsight to illuminate more. This documentary is taking me back as I recognize specific lineups and plays while telling many stories I have never heard, and I doubt most of us dirty English mains have heard them either.
Came back and joined the monthly. This kind of immortal content is exactly what old fans crave.
I sincerely wish you'll do for world 23 & 24 as your next projects, we'll patiently wait, do it at your own pace🙏🙏💪💪
I was supposed to get married today but left her at the altar when my phone said a new Gbay video just dropped.
Stop lying, she definitely joined you
Stop lying she did it first
I'm sure she would understand
I would do the same if I wasnt a league player and as such alone.
Stop lying, the only person you would marry is Gbay.
This entire series makes " all roads lead to me " the coldest line in gaming history
I wonder will he include Worlds 2023, I really hope so
Ikr, give a fucking raise to whoever was writing that entire section, holy fuck
@@ironboy3245 I just hope we wasn't one of the Riot Employees who got laid off.
@@skrattaoppar9753 it was probably some unpaid intern
@@isaacyim536 of course it will be included. He talked about the end of an era of faker and skt in this part. Surely he will make the part 5 about Faker and T1 reclaiming their glory.
Actually goated they thought Faker had a girl, only to realize he was just play chess.

Even though I know how this will play out, it’s intense watching the story unfold. This really makes 2022 feel so vindicating for deft.
hey vars
i was crying alongside everyone in that chant moment when he announced he was leaving, being there at that moment should have been a very powerful commotion
7:40 it's worth mentioning that before the era of Flash, KT or as it was called back then, KTF, was also building superteams to beat SKT in Broodwar and always fell short in Proleague. They were the kings of second place from 2003-2007.
Ooh a new rabbit hole. This needs likes, might be a whole video worth of story there, sounds cool
exactly like PSG LGD in dota. performed perfectly all the way to the internationals. performed perfectly all the way to the finals, only to lose EVERY SINGLE TIME with some really questionable decisions. it hurt to watch their star player Ame try so hard every single time. he just retired a year ago, without ever getting a championship win. an uncrowned legend, arguably the best carry player in dota, and each of their players was a generational talent, OG players, at least top 3 in their roles. none of them got the glory. really depressing to think about.
@@rzt430 Ame is back with Xtreme gaming. They also just won a tourney, beating PSG's current lineup last month. Then placed 3rd in Dreamleague this month.
not gbay99 dropping the hardest documentaries known to man
The quality of this series is insane. Can't wait for the next one
I'm loving this in depth history of Deft & Faker. Lots of things I didn't know. Cant wait for part 4
A lot of it was changed to make a narrative more than actual fact
@@vghsfancan u elaborate further?
@@vghsfan I don't think there were any significant changes. More like overly dramatized but still correct.
@@guslarz So he is using how we think about deft and faker now to go back and paint a picture throughout history to retroactively make the narrative fit together better. I’m going to start with faker because he is mostly correct with faker. Faker in 2013 while already considered the GOAT because of his play during Spring and Summer OGN and Worlds win followed by a dominant OGN winter it was no where near unanimous and so there was no need for people to call anyone the next faker like we do know. The 2014 year was the year of the Samsung Orgs who won 1 OGN championship and went to both finals and dominated the 2014 worlds championship. T1 K had fallen off during 2014 because of there bot lane and bengi not being as good. Pawn was never considered the next faker because he and debuted only months after faker. People didn’t really start calling people the next faker until 2016/2017 with bdd because he was the first player to ever win to back to back lck mvp. UCAL was also another hyped up midlaner but he never took off.He got the narrative of being a faker counter because SSW dominated T1 K in the worlds last chance qualifier and solo killed him a few times which is where he got his hype from. 2015 he moved to lpl and beat faker at MSI before the lpl collapsed at worlds and T1 won it again. After that because of his injuries like Gbay said he fell off and was never the same. People didn’t try to start crowning a next faker until after fakers first world loss before then it was never a thing. With deft he was not the best adc on ozone he didn’t goto worlds in 2013. In 2014 he was considered one of the best adcs in the world but he was very flawed he was terrible in lane. But he was out shined by Imp his counterpart and Namei and UZI. Namei was the best adc coming into worlds he was the best player coming into worlds but because he was sick he didn’t play well and his career failed because of that. In 2015 deft did win spring and msi but again he was not the best adc coming into worlds 2015 that was imp who was the number one rated player coming into worlds he also had strong completion from Pray and Bang with UZI having a disastrous split in the lpl. 2016 EDG he was really good won’t lie he had a great year he was the best adc in the Lpl potentially the world but once again they collapsed at worlds. In 2017 he moves back to korea to the KT super team which while spring started off well collapsed in the summer not going to worlds he was a top 3/4 adc. 2018 they revamped the roster he wins an lck championship we all know how 2018 worlds goes. So from 2013-2018 while deft is highly regarded he isn’t the GOAT adc yet many people made argument he wasn’t top 5. This is when he really starts to slump he is a solid adc but honestly he isn’t competing for best of the best anymore from Kingzone to the drx that won worlds he was a great adc but he has a lot of competition he wasn’t like he used to be he went from middling roster to middling roster. The drx he won worlds with was a bad team they barely made it worlds and in all honesty they should have never won that worlds. Deft has been a great player on mediocre teams ever since the kt super team collapsed.
@@guslarz The star player of that KT team was Smeb, the rock of it was Score. They used to play around those two all the time. But Deft was still very important and was a huge part of why they were so good
Didn't know fakers backstory. It has so much heart.
Didn't know his dad got divorced until December of last year
Did his mom get divorced?@@nathanhosea489
holy shit you are so fucking crazy good at telling stories, this whole series is just so captivating, whole thing is like 2 hours so far and there wasnt a single moment where i wasnt fully immersed in the video. honestly respect your work so much, the amount of work and talent that is needed to make videos of that caliber must be insane, never change man
Thank you so much for the kind comment dude. Messages like these keep me making more :)
PEAK content as always. Every time I finish one of these I'm just sad I can't watch the next one!
I watch A LOT of documentaries and these documentaries that our man Gbay99 make are right up there with the best documentaries I've ever watched. S tier! I'm really looking forward to the next one in this series
love your ability to tell a good story. looking forward to the remainder of the series
This series feels like it was made by you thinking "man, you really had to be there-wait, no, I'll TAKE you there!" I mean that as a compliment. Great work, as always.
I am so enthralled with your storytelling, and how you deliver these stories. You have single-handedly gotten me to really care for the LoL eSports scene more than I did before. I can’t wait to watch this 5 parter in one sitting when it’s all out.
Keep it up and no need to rush the videos man! We’ll wait for them!
Such an epic series, thank you for compiling and making this. So well done!
I've been waiting for this for like a long time !!!! Still quality is insane!!!
thanks gbay for yet another amazing documentary
A beautiful work of art that does this epic story justice. Thank you so much.
Such an amazing series, even as someone who has followed the LoL scene and gone through all of this, seen all of the clips so many times, its still so much fun to see it in a storyline like this. Truly great work.
This series is amazing ! First time I actually enjoy watching league content, you are amazing at telling the story, keeps up captivated ! Want more !!!
so excited for this series. can't wait for the next part.
Hearing talk about a full rookie squad and Chovy in the same sentence is wild.
I cant wait for this Series to be concluded just so i can watch it all again back to back. Thank you for your work GBay
GBay99, man, if you keep this up, you'll be a legendary documentarian, elevating to such heights alongside Summoning Salt. You rule!
Dude, these videos are perfect, thank you so much!
Hell yeah, I was waiting for this. What a great documentary!
I literally watched the Khan doc and the first 2 parts of this yesterday, this is insane timing haha
These series are so emotional to me... lol thanks for making these wonderful videos
Hey Gbay, I used to watch you religiously when I was in high school. You also taught me basically the only thing I know how to cook - fried mushrooms, minus the sock. I've almost graduated med school now, and I'm so glad to have rediscovered your channel and your insanely high quality documentaries. Thank you.
don't even play league of legends, yet watched the entirety of part 1 and 2 lmao, your story telling is super good
Damn these videos have been heart wrenching, such great work Gbay!
THIS IS AMAZING CONTENT! YOUARE TRULY TALENTED! NEVER STOP DOING THESE, THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!
Perfect as always Gbay 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS
Gbay is so good at story telling. Never fails to get me hype and invested in professional league
bros got me crying for deft saying goodbye to China region lmao gbay99 hes done it againnnnnnn 3x now the GOAT of documentariesss
gbay you make the best league docs. you deserve more recognition for your journalistic talents
Deft is the most underrated player in the world right now. Imo he's the best adc in the world alongside Ruler and Gumayusi. He's so good and so consistent in KT every game, and constantly is leading damage charts, yet noone talks about him. Dude is a true and tested World Champion yet people talk as if he's washed, or that he "isn't even the top 3 adcs in LCK".
He is good but when finals comes he choke he needs goods teammates like PYOSIKand beryl
literally, every team he has played in, most notably during international events, at least 1 of his teammates suddenly sandbag so hard they just get eliminated
he's still world class for sure, and the ADC goat, but above him rn imo have gotta be not only guma and ruler (who might be goat contender soon enough), but also viper and honestly still Jackeylove.
jackeylove might be debatable but i think if you look at their lvls of play jackeylove is outperforming slightly, though their playstyles are very different
@@McChickenJOI yeah that's what I'm saying is that I think he's a notch above Viper but for some reason this is considered a bad take. I still don't get why.
Still remember the series of KT vs IG so well. I was a deft fan since the EDG days and also loved Smeb since ROX. Wanted them to win the series so bad and I remember feeling legit sadness when they lost. The baserace was epic though, and I think Smebs descision to simply understand that he was no match for the fiora and just straight TP to the enemy base was a huge play where others would have tried to fight her.
Smeb was such an incredible player, I miss seeing him play so much...
The true best toplaner of all time
@@luisrnogueira I'd only rate 3 people over him - Khan, TheShy, Zeus. And even then, it's very debatable
thing is, zeus (and literally every other t1 players) is only top tier because of Faker@@nathanhosea489
@@nathanhosea489 Marin?
@@namfingerstyle8403 MaRin used to have the highest peak of them all, that's why he was in. Now that someone has had an even higher peak, I don't think he's above Smeb. Smeb had 4 good years, MaRin had 1. The other 3 I mentioned have had multiple good years
Uploaded 20 seconds ago and I'm already stoked!
THE GOAT IS BACK!!!
Wow, I'm here early on a whim. Excited to watch!
Well done Gbay. WIll be sharing this video.
This series is incredible.
the other day, I'd been wondering where the high-quality league documentaries are. looks like i found them (the music choices for the games?? incredible) and i'm so excited to binge your other videos and drop absolutely everything when the next part of this series drops ^_^
Best league documentary on the internet, period.
Been waiting for this for a while.
Watched this rivalry, back during the SSW/SSB year. That was such a wild tournament to watch.
So proud of Deft's hard work and perseverance. Deserved
Even though I was there for this entire story; these videos are some of my favourites I have ever watched on CZcams. I can’t wait for the next two parts
Following KT in 2018 into that 2018 worlds was such a special experience. The Griffin storyline, the SKT storyline, the KT storyline and then all of that combined with the west finally being good along with China finally winning worlds at the end was so amazing. Worlds 2022 with DRX winning was indiviudally better, but as for a whole year narrative, 2018 was so amazing.
2018 is severely underrated by everyone when talking about the best Worlds. Probably my favorite in history
Storylines of 2022 Worlds were out of the roof for DRX/Deft especially.
i simply love your documentaries
i have been refreshing my home page for days looking for anything from any creator that i like and nothing. then i find a Gbay video from 3 days ago that i havnt watched. youtube burying you for osme reason my dude!
4 seconds in, and I'm slapping that like button. Already know it's going to be great.
everytime a new gbay dcumentary hits my timeline, I know I am in for a banger!
monte still trying to not get excited for kt in 2024 lmao
can't wait for the last two piece of this series.
It’s unfortunate the yt algorithm doesn’t like sequential content, this shit is a banger all your content is a banger, I felt emotion over players of a game I’ve never even played love u G
The next part cant be released quickly enough! Ty Gbay :)
Losing to 2016 ROX wasn't a huge embarrassment, and even if they had a 1st seed, they were going to have to face either them or SKT eventually. ROX themselves had even greater struggles in their group, but they were still the frontrunners for the tournament.
I waired so long for a Faker video of yours and finally get it partly, which is enough to me :)
cant wait for the 2022 and 2023 year part 😮
Brother I know I’m late, just got home, but holy cow how I’ve been waiting for this video. Starting it now but I’m already so happy and emotional.
Trinimortal and Gbay posted in the same week.... my depression is punching air right now 😂
I was about die waiting for this. So good
this is amazing
i’ve watched many stories about faker and defts rivarly but by far this. this is the best channel to ever do it

Babe wake up, new Gbay Deft vs. Faker episode just dropped!!!!
as an aspiring writer, i love your way of good story telling
*kudos*
Bro your content is so well researched and narrativised - could you pls do a story on Uzi, the uncrowned king
You are a beast Gbay99
More! Oh god please more!!
I just want to take this time to appreciate you doing this. Congrats on your marriage and happy that you recovered from your illness ^_^
PART 3 OF PEAK LETS GOOOO
This series need to telecast on movie theaters. Its damn good.
Please add the 2023 world cup also. I want to see "all roads lead to me"
Another banger
Having breakfast (a monster and a cig) along with this video was the perfect start of my day, amazing production keep grinding.
go go go gbay🎉
Great series! RIP KT 2018
I'm most looking forward to seeing part 5 which (hopefully?) has Faker's fourth worlds.
That last match was so tense, having been out of following pro League for years
Honestly, it just hurts to see such dedication and effort never bloom
Amazing videos my dude. This series and the Khan video. Which one next?
"The simple idea that hard work deserves to be rewarded made it feel like a giant disservice that Deft hadn't gotten his final reward."
We know what happened after, but understanding what happened before makes this narrative so much more inspiring.
What a good fucking video. Holy shit.
Let's get this video to about Katt Williams shay Shay club interview levels so that my boy G doesn't have to work that hard. I just want him to make videos he is so good at it I love this documentary style that you've been doing keep it up. great work
"To be continued."
Well, I'm waiting.
Amazing content ! Curious if you have any basic Beginner guide videos? I'm hyped to get into LoL ....any plans to do a new player guide to LoL. Thanks and keep up good work!
Goldbay back with another banger
If this channel is not the best for league documentarys idk who it is ,as a esports fan since 2014 I really enjoy living the nostalgia
