  • The Brooklyn Bridge UFO | The Weirdest Story You'll Ever Hear
Nov 30, 1989, just after 3 AM. New York City. Janet Kimball was driving over the Brooklyn Bridge when her car stalled and slowly rolled to a stop.
After a couple of failed attempts to get the car started, Janet was hit by a bright light. Bright enough that she had to shield her eyes.
The light was coming from an apartment building. Janet thought maybe someone was shooting a movie. Not unusual in New York City.
Then she saw that the light was coming from a saucer-shaped craft hovering above the building. OK, it's a science fiction movie, Janet thought.
But it wasn't a movie. This was happening for real.
As Janet's eyes adjusted to the brightness, she saw something levitating in the light. Objects floating up to the saucer.
When she focused, she realized they weren't objects. They were people.
    Well, one of them was.
In an instant, the light went out, and the saucer plunged into the East River.
There were 23 eyewitnesses to this event, including one of the highest-ranking politicians in the world.
And people being transported to a UFO by a beam of light in the middle of New York City? That isn't the weirdest part of the story.

It is seemingly a great sighting!...But, as usual, no one, even the teachers there, thought to take a photo or two of the aliens, or their craft. Most descriptions of it seem to dovetail with those "tic-tac" UFOs seen by the military pilots.

People's memories are notoriously unreliable. Our mind doesn't store and recall memories like a recording and playback machine. Even those with Photo/Phono-Graphic memories have to be careful to not color the memories during recall, as the act of recall can actually modify the memories without our being aware. And one has to be aware of this when searching for evidence. I believe the first recall tends to be the least coloured.. After that they tend to corrupt more and more.. IMHO, anyways...

Anyway, this whole phenomenon sounds a whole lot like sleep paralysis. I've had it three times and it feels as real as anything while it's happening.. and it's always terrifying. I think some people are prone to have this abduction/experimentation, some demons/evil entities and some natural disasters. She was surrounded by people telling her it was real so she never came to the legitimate conclusion. I've never had it be aliens but I could 100% see someone having this exact experience. They just don't understand that it didn't have to be aliens, it's their subconscious fears that dictate the form. I’m born and raised in Brooklyn in the early 80’s myself and a friend were walking to another friends home at that time we played a lot of sports flag football basketball and on our way to our friends we saw a huge huge UFO a huge one! This was Park Slope Brooklyn! The UFO was moving slow but silent however I do remember a slight humming and it was gone. My friend and I only spoke of this once in our lifetime but once I saw this title you brought back the entire scenario! I hope no one thinks I’m making this up when I tell you this ufo was huge it could cover the dome of a football field the top part. FYI there’s a recent video of someone being pulled up into the air it’s still happening

Sometimes my boyfriend will game at night and I'll watch true crime or conspiracy theory videos by myself. He's walked in on a lot of them, and will watch the rest of the true crime videos even though he isn't a fan but wants to snuggle up with me anyway. But after a few episodes of the why files that he was originally unsure of, he would hear the intro and shout 'pause that a moment sweetheart, I'm coming in'. Now I will tell him when a new video comes out and we will watch it together that night. We have quite different tastes in TV, I love horror and true crime, so my main source of entertainment is youtube. He likes anime and comedy, so he pays for a netflix subscription. I used to pay for prime but wasn't worth it. We have found things we a few series we like to occassionally watch together as well as a few films. But we both love to watch conspiracy videos together, as we enjoy the discussions it stimulates between us. (I'm rewatching this one, so he isnt present)
We do share other interests, like board and card games, hiking, camping, swimming and snorkeling. But during the winter, and days that we are too tired... this is what we do. The Why Files. We saved up the videos over summer and autumn when we would spend every waking hour of daylight after work outside. But we binged them recently, so now it's just one video a time 😅 I still haven't watched the latest video and that is actually our plan for tonight 😊

I cannot wait to see this episode! I've never heard of this story before. But speaking of aliens, I think it'd be cool if you could cover the UFO and alien abduction stories in Palm Springs, California. There's a military base near there too. A friend of mine actually claimed that she was abducted by three tall Grey aliens in Palm Springs. It was a surprisingly friendly experience. When they were medically examining her they found out she was pregnant with a baby boy. My friend at the time had no clue she was pregnant, and she honestly didn't look like she was pregnant, one of those harder to tell pregnancies. So the aliens apologized to her and ended the examination early. They even escorted her to her bed. She thought it was a crazy dream but she was curious to see if she was actually pregnant and lo and behold she was. Later on she found out she was pregnant with a baby boy just as the aliens had said. 😂 Crazy story.

When I was a young girl in my early teens, my mom, my siblings and several other family members were standing outside talking when this unusual looking craft slowly passed over our heads. It was big, and made absolutely no sound, but the really strange thing about it, was it was see through on the bottom of the ship. I remember seeing humans in uniforms walking across the invisible floor from the console that ran along the outer side of the ship to a console in the center, both male and female. The weird thing was, we never talked about it afterwards, and years later my sister and I brought it up in conversation and she looked at me and said I thought I had dreamed that. I assured her it was real as we discussed the details we remembered. Strangely enough, some years later, my husband and I were traveling through a lonely stretch of highway at night in another state when I spotted a light way up in the sky. I watched for awhile as it zigzagged at incredible speed to immediately stop and zigzag in another direction. I brought it to his attention as he was driving, and once he saw it, he just looked straight ahead with both hands on the wheel and wouldn’t talk about it. I kept watching it for a while longer until it headed straight up and was gone. I had looked around to see if anything like a search light or something was around while it was still in view, but it was late into the night and quite dark all around us. I know this wasn’t a drone or anything like that because of high far up in the sky it was and the scale of the size it was, plus it was in the year 1977. Shared these experiences with others, but if you haven’t experienced it, I guess it is hard to believe, huh!

I read several of Bud Hopkins books back in the late 90s. I remember "Linda Cortile's" story and thought it was pretty hard to accept, which was disappointing for me since I'm a lifelong UFO "abductee/contactee" armchair researcher. I really appreciate the effort to dramatize the content and also break the tension with comic relief from hecklefish, this is truly a very good way to deliver content that explains real events that are stranger than fiction because it softens the unsettling nature of the message but still preserves the strength of the experiences. It's kind of like playing good cop, bad cop with the audience's psyche but in a very skillful way. I bet there's some cinema term for that but maybe it's just good storytelling. AJ you tell a good story, and you keep people's attention, and are very sharp with details. My take is Linda has problems...a desperate need to be wanted, compulsive lying, and making up stories and drama for attention... I was a mental health counsellor 20+ years ago. As the story went on, mind mind started running her story - the symptoms- over in my mind like flipping through a rolodex. It's sad because she can destroy her marriage and family, and inside she won't be happy when alone. In my 20s my mother said that my father had seen a ufo (late 50s - early 60s) but wouldn't talk about it because he didn't want people talking or laughing about him. Good story again. Thanks
