Eleang Thang san, thank you so much for watching and support for the video!! I really appreciate it.
Another informative video with information for cost conscious retired seniors like us. Thank you Kengo san!
Kevin san, Dayle san, I'm glad you found the video informative. Yes, there are many breakfast choice while you are in the city. Thank you so much for the support for the video again!! :)
Thanks for recommending these places with reasonably priced breakfast. It is very helpful!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you liked it.
Wow, thank you for a very important topic that I don’t know anyone else have thought about for visitors to Japan! Thank you.
Thank you for such a nice comment. I'm glad you liked it. :)
Arigatou Kengo-San! Another great video, thank you for showing natto!!!
Oh wow, thank you again for your support for the video! That's great you can eat Natto! I usually like it with raw egg and green onion. :) Thank you again.
This is a very useful video. Thank you!
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you found it useful. :)
Oooh!! This is so great. We are coming in July and haven't booked breakfast with our accommodation!
Sounds perfect! I hope you try some of these. :)
Thank you for this! Many of these are right by the hotel I’ll be at.
Oh great! I hope you like some of them. :)
thanks i went to nakau during my stay in japan it was the most tasty okoyadon ive ever tasted 😂❤❤❤
Great video Kengo-San!!! Many of the places we go to. And yes, we love natto!!!
Thank you! I'm glad you know all of these places. :)
I am going so soon! I am so happy you shared this video with me! I will check out these restaurants! Thank you so much!😊Keep making great videos!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I wish you the best trip in Tokyo. :)
Loved Doutor, but definitely will try some of these location as well!
Thank you! I hope you like some of them. :)
Your channel is amazing. Hope to meet you somewhere in Japan
Thank you for watching and your kind message. :)
Thank you so much Ken san, this is very informative as I will be visiting soon. Lots of options no need to eat at the hotel!
I am a big fan of Becks Coffee. Good breakfast sandwiches.
I found a “brunch” hack if you get up late. Go to Yayoiken chain (ticket machine restaurant), and while the official breakfast items will be disabled after 10:30/11:00, they don’t disable the “Japanese omelette” from the side item menu. I would always go there about noon, and just order two omelettes. Always got interesting looks from the staff, but they were served every time. 😂
Oh haha. You like Tamagoyaki. 👍
Thank you for this video! Very helpful!
Thanks for the video. We just got back to Tokyo yesterday and are looking for breakfast places to eat
Great! I hope you found a good one this morning. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. :)
We went to Nakau at Ginza since our daughter likes Japanese style breakfast. The miso soup had these small clams and it tasted pretty good, and the price was inexpensive compared to other places.
I really like your video! It touches on practical topic that gets very little coverage. For average tourist, convenience store is the only option. This video gives me a new perspective!
Thank you for watching! I didn't expect the convenience stores are so popular as a place to get breakfast. I'm glad you liked the video. :)
Thanks for this video.. I am now in Tokyo and will try out one of these places!! I’m getting tired of 7-11 stuff already 😂
Thank you for watching. Haha, I understand. I hope you find your favorite breakfast in Tokyo. :)
That is a lot of breakfasts you eat in 1 morning 😊😊
Haha. I ate 3 in this morning in Shinjuku, and I was so full that I needed to lie down in the park. Others are from previous days in other locations in Tokyo. :)
Very nice recomendations for my next trip to japan!! Thank you!!!👍
Thank you for watching! I hope you have a great trip in Japan. :)
Been to most of these places myself as i usually stay in a hotell close to where you started the video.
Komeda i feel is a bit underated, pretty good for the price
Thanks. Very helpful!
Thank you for watching!
I will definitely try all of these places next time.. thank you! 🥰
Thank you for watching! I hope you find your favorite breakfast. 😄
If you are by Ikebukuro station, there is a branch of Ootoya that sells Japanese breakfast sets for 600 yen starting at 7am (most of the other locations open at 11a).
Thank you for sharing. I didn't know some Otoya open in the morning!
Nice video, thanks!
Thank you for watching!🍚
i lived on sukiya, yoshinoya, matsuya and nakau and I found nakau suited my needs most and was actually cheaper than the rest. oh and mos burger - wonder how mcdonalds gets crowds when you have a superb chain like mos burger...in three weeks of travel the konbini and japanese chains make food really cheap and great for a budget traveller. but some of the small places serving curry in osaka were my favourite. as a man from curry land india, the japanese curry gets my two thumbs up.
Wow that's really great to know that traveler from India thumbs up Japanese curry! That's great you found nice curry shops in Osaka. I like Nakau too. Thank you for letting me know your experience. :)
Once again some great tips - Ha, ha. Your comments at Johnathan's cracked me up. It was about 'if you don't want to talk with anybody'. Actually, despite being served by a robot, I do like Johnathan's for a number of reasons. 1. Plenty of space. 2. The clever striped artwork means I can recognise it quickly. 3. Choice of the menu.
Honestly though your recommendations were very good. Thank you.
Ken-san, my favourite chain breakfast shop turned out to be Doutor. Their coffees, hot cocoa and fresh sandwiches were excellent!
I like them too! Thank you for letting me know. :)
Thank you so much for the recommendations!
Great video! I am hungry watching it.
Haha. Thank you for watching. :)
Thank you so much. Coming back to tokyo at the end of June. Have not been in many years!
Thank you Connor san. That's great you are visiting here soon! I hope you have a great trip in Japan !
@@tokyokenchan do you have any recommendations for Gluten Free restaurant in Tokyo?
Another great video Kenchan that we need to know since we stay at airbnb when we don't cook breakfast we know places to go. Prices are cheaper than US California for sure due to high inflation here.
Thank you always. Yes, Yen got a little more higher this week but even without considering the cheap Japanese Yen, things are definitely cheaper than California. :)
Another great video! Thanks Kenchan, I will add these to my list for breakfast choices when I go to Tokyo later this year!
Ryuuga san, thank you for watching this video too! Yes, these are great places for breakfast under $5. I hope you find your favorite breakfast place in Tokyo. :)
Nice as always.shinjuku looks nice in summer.could you do a video about cheap places to stay with weekly or monthly rates? Thanks
Thank you for watching. Nishi Shinjuku has lots of green so looks nicer in summer. :) I'll check out those places to see if I can make one video.
Thanks a lot for another great video. Outside of Tokyo, I usually have breakfast at the accommodation. In the Ryokans, I love to try the traditional breakfast and I eat everything (but I dont like natto). Or if I stay in a place like Dormy Inn, I enjoy the buffet, with a mix of Japanese and Western choices.
In Tokyo, I find it a bit more difficult. There, mostly I go for food from the konbini (currypan is a favorite but not healthy choice), or - and I am ashamed to admit it - for McDonalds. Or skip breakfast, and look forward to lunch.
Thank you for watching this video too. I agree, breakfast is paft of the experience at the Ryokans. I usually get breakfast at the hotels during my trip, but if it's a long trip, it might be a little too much to have buffet every morning. I'm surprised convenience store is this popular. Currypan is a little heavy for breakfast but not as bad as Tonkatsu. haha. I like breakfast at McDonalds ! :)
Definitely using this list for my Shinjuku stay next month! Big thanks👍🏼
Thank you for watching. Have a great time in Tokyo. :)
Very helpful video. Breakfasts looks very affordable, especially compared to Australia where coffee latte will cost 400 yen alone
Yes, these chain restaurants offer reasonable breakfast. :) Thank you for watching.
One of the best (and funny) things from my trip was going to the kombini every morning and try different foods for breakfast.
By the end of the trip I already had a favorite: the 7Eleven egg and ham sandwich (assorted), and I think the first thing I'll do when I arrive in Japan again is going directly to a 7Eleven to buy and eat one, together with a salty litchi, the best drink for me! hahahahahha
Haha, you go directly to SevenEleven! Sounds fun to find your favorite breakfast during your travel. 😄 Next time, maybe you can give some opportunity to Lawson and Familymart too... haha.
@@tokyokenchan I went there too! But I want to explore more of them on the next one hahahah
I didn’t do breakfast there, but I bought conbini pasta all the times for a late night snack. I’ve had bolognese from every chain 😂.
Yoshinoya is my favourite. It's easy to find out and delicious.
Thanks Kenchan for the video with such a long list of restaurants/cafes for breakfast. Unaware and surprised that there are many options because I tend to book the hotel(s) with breakfast included. Hotel buffet breakfast is sumptuous and heavy with Japanese-styled options which I love to have although it gets a bit uninteresting after a few mornings due to repetition. Suppose the option of eating out, trying different restaurants/cafes and takeout at convenience store is quite tempting. If not included in the booking, hotel breakfast I stayed cost about 1200-1500 yen per person, significantly pricier than those shown in the video. However, I like it when they start at 0630 so I could have an early start with my itinerary. Out of all your smart picks, I tend to favour any of those where they serve Japanese 定食 (吉野家,なか卯, 松のや and すき家). I ate natto every morning at the hotel. I actually don’t like the taste but savor it due to its nutritional value. Lastly, I learn from you how to pick up steamed rice with a slice of seaweed and chopsticks (at すき家)Delightfully admired.
i go to tullys in hibiya park a nice way to start the day
That sounds like a very nice start of the day. :)
A great list Kengo, as always you're strong on the details and it's all solid advice! Denny's is my favourite for breakfast, but mostly because of the all-you-can-drink option "drink bar".
Thank you! I like Denny's too. I never get used to filming as I eat. haha.
@@tokyokenchan I can do the filming as I eat, but not the talking to camera when I'm there like you did!
The last time we were in Toyko we ate at Yoshinoya 3x for breakfast. Nice to know there are other options for early morning breakfasts! Thank you!
Yoshinoya is good. Thank you for watching. :)
So cool, our hotel is right next door to that park 😊
Oh great! You are so close to Denny's. :)
@@tokyokenchan we will be there 5 days and will definitely check out Denny’s
Im happy that 3 of our favorite breakfast shop was included. Dotour, Becks and Konbini! Im missing their tastes already. 😔
Hello Bryan. So you like sandwich. :) I'm relieved I put those 3 in the video. haha.
@@tokyokenchan hello Ken, because when we are in Tokyo, we are an early riser, we woke up 5am and leave hotel 6am to explore. 😎👍
I wish this video had been published last time I was in Tokyo. A lot of the restaurants that serve big meals don't open 'til 11, so I've gotten stuck eating onigiri for breakfast plenty of times.
Hi I hope you enjoyed your stay in Tokyo. Right, many restaurants open at 11 or 11:30 for lunch. I usually eat breakfast at home so I also didn't know this many chains offer breakfast. :)
I wish I had this video last week when I was in Japan! 😢
Dennys looked delicious
Yes, I like Denny's. :)
Thank you. This reminds me of breakfast restaurant near The Gracary hotel in Shinjuku. Fast and affordable. The biggest hurdle was to figure out the order via the vending machine . All ok after 1st morning.😊
Oh is that Nakau? Yes, it's difficult to use even for me if they have only one machine and someone stands behind me. I always try to click quickly and end up ordering something I didn't want. Thank you for watching. :)
Tonkatsu and egg bowl in the morning ... Matsunoya !!!!
Matsunoya was very reasonable. 😄 Thank you for your comment.
Congratulations on 10K subscribers! Keep up to great work. Our family has a great time visiting Tokyo last winter, looking forward to going back sooner than later.
Thank you for your message about the subscribers! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your trip in Tokyo last time. I hope you visit here again.😄
wow, the konbini food was just around 400 yen? Thats a very reasonable price!! In Germany just the Onigiri alone costs 2,50€, which is about 400 yen.. Can't wait to have Onigiri every morning soon hehe
Haha. Yes, one small coffee, one basic rice ball, one bread is about 400 yen. :) I hope you find your favorite one.
I go to Yoshinoya every day for lunch. Free okawari 🍚
Everyday! Free okawari is irresistible. 👍
I like Beck’s, but it looks like their breakfast menu has changed since 2019 when I last visited Japan.
I was thinking the same when I went there. It seems the menu has changed. :(
Kenchan san, thank you for this. So helpful and much appreciated. Sorry but I have an unrelated question regarding the Suica app on an iPhone. If I have that on my phone and I’m coming from overseas, do you know if I can still use and top it up like a local resident? Arigatoo.
Hi Okka san! Thank you for watching the video. Yes, if your Suica on iPhone is connected with your credit card ( I heard some cases that it doesn't work with VISA cards outside Japan), you can top it up anytime on the phone. :) Please let me know if it doesn't work.
@tokyokenchan Thank you so much for your prompt response! Much appreciated and will update if any issues.
hey ken san, what do you recommend for a packed breakfast. We plan to travel to kawaguchiko early morning from shinjuku. so we wanted to pack some breakfast that we can eat once we reach kawaguchiko. we think picking something from a conbini would be good. do you have any suggestions?
Yes, I usually get things at convenience store previous night or in the morning to eat on the train / bus. Once you go to Kawaguchiko, they have convenience stores too. Hipe you enjoy your trip. :)
@@tokyokenchan thank you ken-san
Thank you for showing the different places to eat for breakfast.
i always go for the restaurants that serve rice as it is more filling for me - Nakau, Yoshinoya and Sukiya.
Was wondering why you did not talk about Matsuya, because you talked about Matsunoya instead, which is a restaurant i was not aware of.
Thank you i will add Matsunoya to the list of restaurants to try for breakfast.
For Jonathans I only know the one near Okachimachi station and Ameyoko. Now i know they got more locations.
Thank you for watching. Yes, I think those beef bowl shops are great for what you get for the cost. It might be a little challenging for western travelers as they only serve rice. Yes, you can eat a big tonkatsu form the morning at Matsunoya👍 :)
thanks! but too western for me!! but enjoyed this video!
Oh really? I thought it's too Japanese. haha.
Banzai! Did I get it right? More to come. 😊
Yay! Banzai! 🙌
hi kenchan, thanks for the information. I am a vegetarian, which of the above restaurant offering the vegetarian breakfast meal? Thanks!
Hi Patrick san, I couldn't find any of these restaurants offering menu as for vegetarian or for vegan. I've been looking for something substitute but many of them comes with egg. Komeda's morning that comes with bread might be a choice.
@@tokyokenchan Thanks for the prompt reply. I am ok with egg, if these chan restaurants offer meal wih egg or cheese, which is fine with me :)
@@vegpatric If you are ok with egg, you have many more choices. Sukiya has some Okura-egg dish with Natto, and also Denny's has Caesar Salad morning. :)
@@tokyokenchan Thanks, great!! I am planning to visit Tokyo for a five-days tour with my wife, your information and video is so helpful. Thanks again.
@@vegpatric Oh great! I hope you have a great time in Tokyo. :)
Que delicia hummmmmm 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🎿🎿🇧🇷
Where can i get traditional japanese breakfast? 😊
I think you can find a good breakfast set at Japanese restaurants in the hotels. I think the one you see in Yoshinoya in this video is like the small version of the typical Japanese home breakfast. :)
Hi Ken San, sorry my question is out of topic. I planned for a day trip to MtFuji using highway bus from Shinjuku. Places to visit are : Chureito Pagoda, Honco Street, Oshino Hakai, and Ancient Village Saiko Iyashi-no Sato Nemba. According to you, how should my route be in order to visit all those places efficiently ?
Hi, Sophia san, I was checking about it as I saw your comment in Kawaguchiko video. I cannot give you the right answer or advise you for the specific itinerary, but if I visit the same spots, I go in order of Chureito, Honcho street, Oshino Hakkai, and Iyashi no sato. So from my Kawaguchiko video, add Honcho Street between Chureito and Oshino Hakkai, skip Fujikyu Highland and stay on the bus to Kawaguchiko station, and head to Iyashi no sato. I didn't know about this Iyashi no sato until you wrote me, but it seems it takes 40 min. from Kawaguchiko station. You might want to make sure there is a bus coming back. No.1 is station and No.48 is the Iyashino sato in this time table. bus.fujikyu.co.jp/pdf/rosen/shuyu/green_time_202209.pdf Hope it helps. :)
Be prepared, 400 steps was no joke. Saiko Iyashi-no is quite far from Kawaguchiko station. Expect delay in buses since a lot of tourists would get confuse which stop to get off or which bus to get in. I wasn't able to go to Oishi Park even if I booked the 6 pm train bound for shinjuku.
@@tokyokenchan Thank you for the feedback, Ken-san.
Apparently, I might not be able to make it to Saiko Iyashi-No for the day trip. So I changed my mind to visit only Chureito, Honco Street, Oshino Hakkai and Lake Kawaguchiko.
So I plan to do it in order like this :
- Arrive at Chureito
- Walk to Honco Street
- Continue walking to Shimo Yoshida Station
- Take the train to Fujisan Station
- Take the bus to Oshino Hakai.
- Change bus to Kawaguchiko Station
Is this correct ?
@@laedi6034 Thank you for your info. Do you have other alternative places to recommend for a day trip in Mt. Fuji ?
@@sophiachandra140 Hello. You might be able to walk from Honcho street to Fujisan Station instead of going back to Shimo Yoshida station. It's about 20 min. walk.
The Japanese are far ahead on many things... but they still haven't figured out bacon.
haha. I agree. Not just bacon…
Great video its a shame that Japan still lacks veg options. Its getting better tho
