- Eating out in Tokyo is an adventure, especially in Shinjuku - Tokyo's busiest area with over 3.5M people going through Shinjuku Station daily! There are over 1500 restaurants around the station serving food like Sushi, Wagyu Beef, Yakiniku & Shabushabu, Tempura, Yakitori, Ramen and with so many options, it can be very hard to pick a good one, especially if you don't speak Japanese.
This time, I'm with Sho of Magical Trip who will share his local knowledge on Shinjuku and its restaurants, Japanese cuisine and the deepest parts of the city.

I think it was a bit interesting, as either it was filmed in a way that showed all the places to be empty, or those werent popular by the locals.
Also didnt really get the "real" Shinjuku wibe from the two first places in my opinion. Me personally would probably gone to other places.
Could be the time of day as well. I do get a little sad seeing videoes from Shinjuku in general I miss the place, its chaotic and calm at the same time.
I wonder if you had Indian restaurant in japan? Never seen one you eat anything foreign food in japan

I just returned from a 2 week trip in Japan. As always, food is good, great, or excellent. And with the weak yen, it is very affordable. Miss it already 😪

Kabukicho Shinjuku should be the major itinerary of any fan of Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza / Like A Dragon) who is visiting Japan. Roam the streets where Kiryu Kazuma and the rest of the gang walked! I was there in 2019 and it was amazing!

We took at food tour with Magical Trip in the area of Dontobori, Osaka. It was excellent. Our guide Hiro took us to little places off the main tourist areas and introduced us to more local places where we experienced wonderful examples of food and drink. Would highly recommend this tour group.
Forget about diet John. You are already very slim and healthy. I suggest you eat more tempura and your fav delicacy. I miss our healthy John from 5-6 years ago . 😅
I might try this. Will arrive in Japan in two weeks and stay for almost three weeks. I will be travelling alone, so it could be nice with some social activities too.
John, this is exactly what i'm talking about. I have been to Shinjuku many times (got lost many) but i would still watch this with great attention to details, as there are always things to learn, to know about the place, the food, etc. So when i go back, i can give it a ago. Topics like these are what make people click! Also again, it shows the level of quality you are producing: Informative, refined. What other youtubers putting a 135mm on a tripod in the middle of busy Tokyo city to get the money shot?
I love that 135mm prime! Poor cameraman had to do 3 takes with people unpredictably coming from all directions 😂 and the traffic light was the key 🚥

Even after 25 years here, I’m always learning something new. Some of those sake were next level! The blue glass one, I didn’t introduce but it’s made for the emperor and WOW! He’s got good taste.
Magical Trip tours are high on my list for Tokyo and Hiroshima for our trip in 2025. Wonder if they will expand to Ibaraki and Fukushima? Hmmm
