If you want an American style breakfast, than the easiest and cheapest option is McDonalds which has pancakes, eggs and egg muffin sandwiches until 10:30 AM. Breakfast at a big hotel will be fancier and better quality, but much more expensive. If you want to try a grilled fish and rice Japanese breakfast, than Yoshinoya or Matsuya can help you. I also recommend trying Japanese curry at a place like CoCo Ichibanya.
One warning--Dennys in Japan is fully Japanized and does not have the menu that you would expect. They do not serve American breakfasts, and at lunch and dinner, much of the menu is Japanese "hamburga" which are like Salsbury steak or meatloaf.

I just subscribed - I am enjoying your videos. They're really nicely put together & full of good tips for travellers. So thank you for your efforts.
A question please - Foreigners like me often rely on eye sight to spot a place to eat. Usually this means we look for something on the ground floor where we can see that it's obviously a place to eat. But I wonder about all those lovely places upstairs that us gaigin simply don't know about. Of course we can see the signs BUT... we don't speak the language or understand the Kanji characters. I must have missed out on many wonderful dining experiences in my 40 years of visiting Japan.
Is there an App or something to help foreigners navigate and find suitable eating places?
    Maybe you have another idea?
Thank you for your good work. Honto Desu!

Thank you so much for subscribing and your kind message. Oh wow 40 years! Maybe you know more than me. :) I think that is difficult even for local residents to find out what's in those building but as you said, there should be lots of gems (and not so gems). Usually people see Google review, magazines, restaurant search website like "Gurunavi" "Tabelog". You might know already but Gurunavi has English site ( gurunavi.com ) . I always go some places to introduce in this channel but haven't found anything "amazing" that I'd like to introduce which I end up not showing in my videos. But I'll keep looking around. Thank you again!

@@tokyokenchan Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated. From memory 40 years ago there was very little information. Mostly we relied on staff at the hotel front desk to recommend something suitable. But I will check into Gurunavi & Tablelog. Sometimes it just takes one clue to open up a whole lot of new opportunities.
Is your information limited to Tokyo? As amazing as Tokyo is, my Japanese friends are way down South in the middle of Kyushu (Hitoyoshi), and it is really difficult finding some place nice to take them out & surprise them. Maybe Gurunavi ('Guru' and 'Navi' - clever) & Tablelog can help guide me. Keep up the good work. You're doing a great job.
