Hi
@@brianclaw There is a small subset of the population with pork-cat syndrome, pork allergies or people who just don't want to eat pork because pigs are very intelligent.
Why can't you eat pork? So tasty!
sukiya, Hama sushi, Seto udon, coco's, nakau
Why can't you eat pork?
During the Tokyo Olympics, the Italian media team loved Saizeriya so much that they went there every day.🤣
I really doubt that.
for anyone in america there's 2 ichirans in nyc, they also have vegetarian and vegan options. Word of caution, the spice level goes up to 10, but that isn't a sliding scale of 1 being mild, 5 medium and 10 spicy. They recommend level 2 which i would say is a mild spice and just going up to 3 is enough to get your nose running. The numbers represent how many SCOOPS of chili you get, not the spice level. Sadly lots of bad reviews from people ordering ichiran as takeout who don't understand their spice level. I recommend +1 rich broth, 1 clove garlic, extra green onions, and level 3 spice, best bowl of ramen in my life!
When I was studying abroad in Japan I used to go to Saizeriya ALL THE TIME. It is so good and so cheap. Haters can pry my buffalo cheese pizza from my cold dead hands.
Been learning hiragana for the last couple months and being able to read ‘irasshaimase’ made me very happy!
MOS Burger is 100% going to be among one of my first stops when I finally go to Japan. 😆
Not to discourage anyone from trying anything at least once but be prepared for a whole different burger experience…in a not so great way. The meat almost tastes boiled if that makes any sense.
モスバーガーは昔よりも美味しくなくなった
Nah MOS Burger highkey sucks. There’s much better burger joints
Big MOS Burger fan here! Loved the video, thank you!
Royal Host for me!
You had me at fake italian and unlimited soda. Its now on the list
Was just about to go to bed. And what happened? A Seerasan video! 💜Haha, now I am hungry. AGAIN!😁
10:51 Sarah dropping all that soba knowledge on us. 🤣
hahahaha. A true GEM 😁
I have no idea why people are hating on MOS Burger. It's great!
As a vegan MosBurger was such a find! I had one in Osaka and Hiroshima. Unfortunately the one in Yuniba didnt do vegan burgers.
この一滴, this last drop of soup is the most precious thing. A little piece of happiness for those who finished the whole bowl.
Aaaaah the mystery is solved! I'm sure you've probably mentioned it before, but I've noticed you tend to go with vegetarian dishes for preference, but occasionally in like the street food videos you'll eat meat. It's the pork you're avoiding, and having spent a fortnight in Japan I wakarimasu how tricky that can be. It's everywhere! I actually quite like pork, but it seemed whenever I was hoping for chicken or beef, it was barely on the menu, if at all in a lot of places. I somehow went the whole trip without finding a single chicken katsudon; it's my favourite comfort dish!
Sidenote, just so happens I made it for dinner last night and I kinda nailed it *finally.* Sure makes a mess of the kitchen, though...
Your videos keep getting better and better. Best wishes from serbia/Europe.
Chicken chippies for the win! 🇦🇺
Wife and I head to Tokyo in two weeks for 10 days.
If you’re in town, we’d love to say G’day.
I just realized that you slurp your noodles when you eat. It's cool to see as it's the customary way to eat noodles as a Japanese person. Love the channel keep it up
I could not imagine being in a big city and getting a lunch or dinner sized dish for what is currently just under 7 bucks usd. Family restaurant looks like a diner, I wouldn't be surprised if that's inspired by American diners
Saizeria's green bean salad is very delicious!
Definitely worth trying.
The pasta dishes are designed to be easy for Japanese people to eat, so they may not suit Europeans.
MOS Burger is my husband go-to restaurant in Japan. He said he would love to bring the whole restaurant to US if he could. Anyway I LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEE when you say "itadakimasu" - so cute!
Mos burger!! ❤❤❤
„I like bread.“ - You‘re so german :D
The APA hotel I'm staying at next trip has a Komeda built in it so I am definitely trying out the breakfast set. Thanks.
Yes give it a go! I prefer Komeda's brekkie compared to most hotel breakfast buffets in Japan 😂
After watching this i feel hungry, Im writing down all these places for my next trip to Japan, Thank uu!!!
I had Mos Burger at Universal Japan. Really enjoyed it 😋
Awesome! Good location to have it at too!
Mos is a go-to of mine for lunch here in Sapporo, I probably go once a week on average. It's on the way home from the subway after morning language school, and convenience is kinda what fast food is all about, right? I love the basic pork cutlet sando set w/ "onion potato" and a melon soda (don't judge me!). Even with the soda upgraded to a large, it's only 1000JPY. Everything always tastes fresh.
I love a woman' that loves her food❤
Every menu in Komeda is so big! Lol, But I love it because it's so yummy🥰
Komeda is so great, right!
コメダは日本で人気があります👍️何度も行きました。日本生まれの日本育ちの立場から、他の店よりも割高ですが、質が良いです。もちろん美味しさもです。私が行っていた店舗ではいつも満員なくらいにこみあっていました。
Good to know that there are indeed non-pork-broth options for ramen, I've been wondering about that for a while
Yes! Other broth options include shio, soy milk, shoyu & miso. But there may still be some kind of pork extract in some of them (depends on the restaurant). Otherwise, vegan ramen options in Japan are super tasty too!
Ginza Kagari Honten make sensational thick 'cream of chicken soup' style ramen. If you miss out going there, don't worry as they have a concession restaurant in Narita airport. Fantastic ramen if you don't like Shoyu, Shio, Miso or Tonkatsu style much. Also, you may like to do a search for Halal ramen; one of the most highly rated ramen joints last year was a Halal ramen restaurant, so you'll be just fine. 😋🍜
There's chicken base Ramen with no pork don't exactly know where the location is was one of those Ramen stalls
Saizeriya is a life saver when traveling with picky kids!
When I lived in Japan there was escargot at Saizeriya!
FYI - Escargot is still on the menu there! 🐌
"Soba" can be used as an umbrella term for noodles with medium thickness as well, which means that Udon is excluded because they are thick, and Somen is too thin. When Chinese noodles were introduced to Japan, they were called "Chuka Soba", which means Chinese noodle because they had similar thickness to Soba, and they eventually evolved into Today's Ramen.
However, Spaghetti or any other Italian pasta with similar thickness have never been called "Italian Soba" or European Soba." So Western ones are excluded as well, I guess.
Thank you! This explanation is great!
Good explanation I like it! Let me add couple more confusing ones. First one is Yakisoba (Japanese style Chow Mein). It comes with not buckwheat noodles but egg noodles. The second one is Okinawa Soki Soba. The noodles are made with flour like Udon.😘
major noodle intake
Lyssa!!!
Aw, feels like it's been ages since I've seen Alyssa pop in! Another great video, I love the idea of a message on the bottom of the bowl!
The Aburasoba looks soooo good. More noodle places, please.
The thing I miss most about Japan is the Mastuya and curry rice. Ichiran sounds great, its nice not having to speak to people haha
I’m going to Japan just to eat! Love your videos!
The doria at Saizeriya is sooo good! 😊
Love them up-close ramen shots. Ooh that Ichiran tho.
absolutely my fav youtuber to date. you go girl!!! very honest, and useful content. Not like commercial and entertainment like others. Very unique. no BS
i love that you pronounced foccacia with a japanese accent 😂
The ramen looks fabulous!! Thanks for a great video!
Your translation is wrong. It says "Itteki" instead of "Men."😆
❌These noodles are the ultimate joy.
⭕This single drop is the greatest delight.
The only chain restaurant I would visited in Japan is MOS Burger. Their Cheeseburger with beef (No Teriyaki) was the best. Orders are made to order, that means no infrared light keeping pre cooked food warm. This does mean that your meal will be very hot and needs a minute to cool off before you eat it.
At Moss I normally order Moss burger, Teriyaki chicken burger and ロースカツバーガー!
I really enjoyed your "tour" :) Thanks!
We had the pudding and tiramisu combo at Saizeriya and that was really tasty! You should have had either of those instead. Sorry about your gelato experience there 😬
Shoot, you picked the better options! Next time 😂 🍮
Oh my god, the no-contact restaurant seems so perfect, and I feel so bad for liking the idea.
I was born in São Paulo Brazil. I was adopted and moved to the United States. Before being adopted I was given four countries that I could have chosen. Germany , Spain , Japan and the United States. had the United States not been a choice , I would have without a doubt chosen Japan. São Paulo Brazil have the largest Japanese population outside of Japan. So I have always had a love for Japanese culture , food and the people. Great video and thanks for sharing.
Hey, just wanted to say hi from Scotland and I'm really loving your content!
Hello & thank you from Tokyo, Japan!
From Scotland here...(but English)..Have been to MOS Burger....visited Japan twice last year..amazing country.
Excellent slurping technique!
Why thank you! 🍜
When Ramen arrived in Japan from China, it was first called "Shina-Soba". Shina was an older term for China, so basically "Chinese Noodles". But as time passed they went into just calling it Ramen.
Thank you very much for your posting!
I'm glad that you have enjoyed Komeda-Coffee-Morning (reasonable breakfast)!
Awesome idea for a series! I could watch this all day.
wow, finding a non pork based broth is huge!
This morning will be gooddddd
I found a place in Haymarket Sydney that does those Soba noodles. It literally changed my entire world. Can’t wait to see what they are like over there.
Where in Haymarket? Would you share details, please? Curious to try Soba noodles before going to Japan
@@wasabigirl2004 IIKO Mazesoba, along the light rail line, where the old Entertainment Centre was!
Oh my... you ANSWERED. And so quickly, too. THANKS. I will try and check out that place next weekend 😄@@byghostlight1
This was so awesome! I’m definitely going to try the rice burger when I visit!
Love these! Gets me familiar with chains so when I visit Japan I get an idea of what my options are! Thanks Sarah!
Happy Saturday Sarah. Free toast or eggs ❤. Love onions
Vfm❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😮
That's incredible prices
I remember watching a ジョブチューン show once ages ago (when I could still find them on YT), Saizeriya makes their money basically through lowering their labor costs. Operations are remotely managed and there’s very minimal staff. Cooking requires the workers to put everything on a conveyor belt (like the fast food pizza ones). And every recipe is calibrated to come out at the same time.
i just moved to tokyo near nishihara/ yoyogi-uehara and theres a komeda coffee i've been too the last few days for breakfast and to get some work done. i loved it there
Love you. love you’re videos
I’m so glad I can watch all her episodes on my main account lmfao
MOS BURGER is the BEST! We had this for the first time after climbing Mt Fuji and will always remember how lovely the salad in the burger was and how fresh it was, incredible. Wish they had it Sydney 🥲❤
Listen, Sarah. good job. i really had fun watching you do things and go to places that I would like to visit.
My mother's maiden name was Moosburger, and there is a city of Moosburg in Bavaria near Passau. So when we went to Japan I just had to make a photo of a Mosburger joint. But we found our burger elsewhere.
OMG. This is so awesome. I want to eat at all of them NOW! Thank you!
Good sharing 👍🥰
I want all this! But that Rice Burger from MosBurger sounds really good
buddaaaarrrr! never can go wrong
In the states we don’t have oolong tea but most fast food chains do offer unsweetened iced black tea, surprising I know 😂
Bros been on fire with the videos recently.
The vegan version of Komeda is pretty decent too! (The American in me found it strange being served veggie soup with breakfast, but it was tasty nonetheless!)
Yes! I went there one time and was pleasantly surprised by the quality! Too bad they only have the one location in Ginza!
@@seerasan honestly Tokyo has killer vegan restaurants. Even just walking distance from where I last stayed in taito-ku- both Guruatsu and Cafe Tarot were delicious and lifesavers for getting in some veg on vacation 😂
モスバーガー🍔も美味しいけど、フレッシュネスバーガー🍔もおすすめです。
The Mos Burger is delicious, but the FRESHNESS BURGER is also recommended.
I'm a big fan of Freshness Burger, too. Love their thickly cut fries (or chips).
Great video! Always like seeing your adventures and new discoveries. I wanted to say (I'm not 'Man-splaining lol) as a hair stylist of 35 years, that in the icon photo for the video it looks like you have a very well cut chin length bob with an amazing color. Just a heads up, even though this style is an illusion in the pic, you look amazing! Mature, cool, and extremely hip looking. Keep uo the great work! Love seeing Japan from the Western point of view.
Man do I love Mos Burger.
Yeeeees. Love fast food chain videos. We had so many restaurants marked on our first visit to Japan, that our Japanese fast food experience was limited to Yoshinoya and MOS Burger.
Can't wait to visit some of these bad boyz on our next visit. Really wanna go to that "soba" chain! And the weird Japanese/ Italian chain. So good. 😂
Sara I love Ichiran and abura soba
You are sooo pretty Sara!! Keep it up. Love your videos ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😊
When I went to Ichiran in Kyoto, there was no line at all! They even gave me an extra bowl for free because i wanted more noodles but it took too long and my bowl got cold, so they just gave me a whole new bowl for free.
Ramen is life, Ramen is eternity 😋
Like... BREAD
My friends took us to Saizeriya when we visited! It was a nice break from all the Japanese food we had been eating to just get a chicken Caesar salad and soup 😊
Once in a blue moon you get that perfect crisp onion ring where the onion stays in the batter when you take a bite. Today was not that day but Sarah won't let that get her down.
MOS, yes that gets a like. Love it!
Fellow creator. This was a delicious video. Love ramen, that looks amazing! Oh and the soba noods. Gosh. Never heard of meet Gordon. Hmm can’t wait to get to Japan one day.
There was an Abroad In Japan episode where he went to Seizeriya and made it look so unappealing. I love your enthusiasm for it! it reminds me of a cheap diner in the U.S. called Denny's. Is it the best? No. Is it good? Also No. But is it there and open when you need it? Sometimes. Also that green drink looks pretty good! maybe you could've put the ice cream in it and made a weird cream soda.
There's Dennys in japan!
Fun and informative vid!...why can't Sarah eat pork?
Ramen is also called as Chinese soba (中華そば). So, Japanese call it just simply soba sometimes.
Damn you killed that ramen!
That ramen in Ichiran is new!!! Never see before!!!
It's actually been around for a while, but there's literally only one location right now in Osaka! Used to be one in Tokyo, but it shut down during the pandemic I believe 🥺
Japanese tourists and business people traveling to the US who want an American style breakfast ask for "morning service." Wait staff send them to the local church thinking they want to pray! Great vido.
Thanks for Japanese Chain Restaurants info! I wonder, if there are those University eating places where you can also go to eat?
soba is noodles made from buckwheat flour
I have had a rice burger in the inner west of Sydney, the rice was so crispy on the outside. It was delicious 😊
Squid ink pasta came from Italy. I think it's called 'Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia'. I haven't seen it in Australia yet.
I've been to MOS Burger and Saizeriya, but not the other chains. I'll have to try the when I get a chance. One thing I appreciated about MOS burger was that they give you ceramic plates and stainless utensils when you dine in and disposable for take out. There was a Saizeriya near my language school where I taught, so I often went there on my lunch break. There was also a Chinese chain called Bamiyan that I often went to. I remember the first time I went there thinking it was nothing like the Chinese food I got back in the U.S., which then led to me realizing that American Chinese food might not be authentic to China either. I think a lot of times, appreciating restaurants like these is managing of expectations. Good on you for being so open-minded about it, Sarah!
I hope you'll review Doutor in one of your posts. I was quite fond of their chocolate croissants.
I'm thinking maybe you should do one video focused just on family restaurants. That's a whole genre in and of itself! Denny's (We have in the U.S.), Friendly, Gusto, Royal Host... I think Jonathan's is a chain in the Tokyo area? I haven't seen any in the Kansai region, but I could be mistaken.
I love some ichiran ramen 😅
