I put an SR suntour suspension seatpost on my dolomite , that’s been one of my favorite game changer upgrades

I switched to the 8 speed 13 to 32t Freewheel instead. 32 is almost as good as the 34 and you get to keep your 28t, and dont have a huge gap between 1st and 2nd gear.

Great video. Just changed out my freewheel with the sunrace. Like the lower gear for climbing. Changed out the shifter as well and everything is dialed in for a 50# dolomite lol. Did you buy the Malus in black or did you have to paint it?

I got it in black from Target a while back.

Do you know the rear dropout of the malus? I have one I’m going to convert to a rear hub motor ebike. Everything I’ve read says 185mm or 190mm. I measured with the tire still on so I was kind of eye balling it but it looks more like 8” / 203mm to me if I’m measuring correctly.

Its probably 190mm dropout I converted a OUTROAD bike into an e bike that I bought from amazon and it was a 190mm dropout.

What does upgrading the freewheel do for the bike im new to bike stuff

I'm guess it has more speed setting so would benefit uphill riding

Lower gear for climbing. Stock freewheel lowest gear cog is only 28 teeth where the shimano upgrade has 34. Better for climbing hills. Better, not best.

Rule #1: Always remove the dork ring.

I was thinking about doing the same thing when I replaced the freewheel on my dolomite and then realized that I’M gonna be the one to adjust the rear derailleur (bro-chanic) so I just left it there for a few rides on the trail to make sure the chain don’t go into the spokes lol. It’s coming off next week

Why would you dump money into a $500 bike? It is what it is. An inexpensive fat tire bike that works just fine.

Its called upgrade. The same reason u would buy a old house n fix it up.

Just to make it a little more comfy on some modest climbs when I take it to my trails to throw down a hill.
