If you haven't watched "Leon" the lobster videos, they're pretty excellent, and he was rescued from a grocery store. I think he's already shed twice in the last 18mos or so, so he's thriving nicely. Really cool that you found and decided to save this one.

I can't help but compare Bowie to Leon the Lobster at this point. Leon started in a smaller tank like this but now he's living in a super massive tank thanks to Brady Brandwood, his owner. Leon is a truly loved pet lobster from the grocery store. Hopefully Bowie can get a nice big tank or maybe find a home in a lab where he can be studied scientifically.
I had similar thoughts - I have been watching Leon's updates since the very first one - no idea how it came into my feed, or why I clicked it - but I am so glad I did. I am invested...and beginning to be just as invested in Bowie

You know what's crazy? That cage is heavy because despite being made entirely out of holes, you're still picking up all the water inside. It's like turbulence; you know how it works from experience but lumpy air and lifting water with nothing holding it in are both absolutely bonkers concepts when you think about them.
I thought for sure when he was hauling the cage up Jacob was going to make like it was empty and Bowie had escaped.

@@KnaveRain Nope, not "they" because it is only one lobster. "They" would be appropriate if there was more than one lobster or in case of a single lobster the sex was unknown. Being a hermaphrodite doesn't make Bowie plural. Half and half makes one whole, not two.

I love that aquarium/oceanarium. When I went they had small pvc circles that housed 1 little baby lobster and these huge tanks that mimicked the ocean. It was crazy to watch the bigger babies get thrashed. Their marsh walk is nice too. Very interesting and informative visit. They had a bunch of neat lobsters too. Will be interesting to see if your lobster can lay and fertilize eggs.
Jacob, don't put yourself down so much. You have an extraordinary amount of knowledge of these wonderful sea creatures, as well as a good dose of compassion and caring to keep them in best of health for reproducing. Well done for an amazing story! You are a great ambassador for your industry. I only wish I lived in USA to go and see Bowie!

Maybe you should have a vote whether people think Bowie will reproduce. I was a licensed vet tech and was able to meet one hermaphrodite dog who of course was sterile and couldn't reproduce but I bet Bowie has different DNA on each side. Might happen. Maybe down the road some DNA testing would be in order. People are going to learn so much from Bowie.
So happy an aquarium stepped up to help with Bowie. I hope Bowie will be a part of Jacob's family for many years to come. And we can follow along.
