+1 for Calico Jack. Jacob, as a creator, I too struggle sometime with different content types for my channel, but as a viewer I have no complaints on what you are doing. As a young man, I grew up in the Navy sailing around the world. As I have moved back home to the midwest, I am now living vicariously through your channel. I miss the peace and harmony of being out to sea. The only thing that I always point out to new creators, and you have captured this, is to just be your authentic self.

A great show about keeping a pet lobster on utube is "Leon the Lobster". The owner feeds him all sorts of stuff from garden worms to clams in the shell. He also recorded the whole shedding experience.

Nova Scotian here: we sure do have the highest tides in the world in the Bay of Funday (54.6 feet or 16.8 meters)! There is actually a great service a couole time seach summer where you can dine on the Ocean floor, it's very cool.
My family visited there in the 60s and we were witness to this phenomenon. I will never forget it! I have a photograph of Peggy's cove we took in a frame hanging on my wall. Hoping to revisit there again! Beautiful place!😊😊😊

You probably already know about Leon the Lobster. He is a supermarket lobster that is being raised as a pet. I enjoy watching his videos.
Jacob, I hope one day you can do a collaboration with Leon the lobster. I'd be curious to get your input on how fast he grew after only two molts. I think it's because of all the great food he's eating. But it seems he's growing really quickly.
The nice warm aquarium probably helps, too.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if Jacob was the one who originally caught Leon and sold him to the supermarket? Unlikely I guess, given that Brady lives in the South and Jacob lives in Maine.
@@remcovanvliet3018is almost certainly the available of food. Done a few unofficial tests with neocardinia shrimp, a hardy freshwater shrimp (available in over 2 dozen colors!) And food tends to play a MUCH bigger role than temps. Quality of food also counts, most visibly in the color of shell and tissue

Years ago, I read the book "The Secret Life of Lobsters " and became fascinated with them. Now that I found your channel, I don't miss an episode. I love to see the bi-catch keep showing everything in the traps.

The author (Trevor Corson) is from an area just on the other side of Mount Desert Island (Swans Island, I think) from where Jacob is (Winter Harbor).

Back in the 80s my friends older brother here in Australia had a pet Marron in a tank. It was huge he used to feed it ox hearts and bait fish. We never believed him that its claws could take your fingers clean off. Now I think it wasn't just to scare us.

When you drop lobsters, do they possibly get eaten floating back down?
Some probably do, but lobsters are surprisingly good at swimming, so they probably start actively swimming down as soon as they get oriented again

I live close to the bay of fundy with the highest tides in the world! Loved the ‘shout out’ - my family and’s I were at the aquarium last week and saw tiny lobster babies in a tank with several other lobsters all different colours and sizes!! White, blue, red, brown!! Super cool stuff!

Have you heard of Leon? He’s a lobster in Georgia. A gentleman keeps him home and he was a grocery store lobster that he brought home quite fascinating. He can teach you a few things about how to keep lobsters his pets. I believe he’s had Leon for two years now. I love you channel Kathy.

Leon the Lobster is a channel who purchased a grocery store live lobster and put him into a tank and has been taking care of him for over a year or more. He has shed twice even, having gotten even bigger.
A great channel to see how the lobster rebounded from being in a store.
