Jerry needs no help playing with his ball.

- I built the ball machine because I thought my dog Jerry, might like it and that it would be something fun for me to build. So after two years of on and off work, with many safety features such as IR proximity sensors to protect Jerry and my son from the machine, I finally complete.
Far from being a replacement for me, I was always right there with him enjoying his fun. And with all the troubles that I went through to build the ball machine, I still end up throwing more balls than that the machine could count! According to the computer, he played with the machine by himself only 3 times in his life.
I recently put this video on CZcams to keep alive my earlier memories of him and (hopefully) provide some "humorous distractions" for anyone that might drop by.
Please enjoy the video.
I like how he runs to the spot it's going to land without even looking back.

Shipmate | Revengefull Trout: that saying is getting *VERY* old now! 😂🤦🏻♂️
Shipmate | Revengefull Trout my guess is that rural sweatshirt has never been invited to a party.
Very well designed? If there is no ball in the sensor it resets back to starting position. This is likely so that it resets after firing, and is the simplest type of intelligent command you can give a machine.
It would be harder to design a machine that didn't work that way seeing as how the ball is the key to whether it fires or not.

@ankit kr Some dogs do turn prematurely gray while others have very little gray even at 18 years old. My dachshund Ebony Bo was 18.5 years when she went to heaven and had very little gray. I had a long haired dachshund Haylie Marie, she passed away at the age of 15.5 years old and most of her face was white. Then Sadie Dawn was 16.5 years old and she had some mostly on her mouth area, not so much around her eyes. So you never know. I've seen black labradors at work that have alot of gray even at 7 years old but my black lab, Gracie Lynn, she was 15.5 years old when she passed and she had very little gray, in fact it was barely noticeable.🐾🐾❤

Yeah like turtles
Well maybe not a turtle because then the dog would be depressed when we die.
@smokers1231000,
I know that your comment is over 3 years old.
But I have to say, I often think the same thing.
With all the advances and discoveries with DNA and manipulation, like *CRISPR,* for example, I often thought, I wish scientists could do 2 things for dogs.
1) modify their DNA to extend their lives. They are the best friends humans have, and yet, live the shortest. They give so much joy and allow us humans to give them the best of lives.
Some Parrots can live 60, 70 even 80 years. As mentioned, some turtles live many decades too. It's just not fair that dogs have such a short lifespan.
2) This one is probably not on the drawing board. But I'm a person who thrives on COLORS. Bright, brilliant, saturated colors of all types. Bright colors, like yellows, oranges, greens, etc just make me happy.
But dogs, don't see in "FULL" color.
Human eyes have 3 cone types, red, blue, green. The same as a TV/Computer monitor. So we can see all colors.
While a dog only have 2 cone types, blue and yellow. So they can only see the colors that mixing blue and yellow (with different levels of illumination, of course).
So i though, wouldn't it be nice if scientists could figure out how to modify a dog's genes so that the modified "eyes" would now have 3 cone types, red, blue, green and whatever modification in the visual cortex that would be required to process those 3 cone colors into FULL color like humans.
The gift of longer life and fuller color vision would be amazing for our little friends.
For dogs who seem to get depressed so easily, I wonder if seeing in full color would help with that.... (rhetorical).
