    "Don't be afraid to make mistakes" is exactly the advice I needed - I've been stuck for a while with conversions that ended up too similar to the base models, and it's because of being too cautious. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to make this! I remember seeing your Evil Sunz on a Warhammer Community article some time ago, they're a big inspiration.

    I'm new to the hobby, and since Orks is my first Armee choice, i stumbled upon ur channel a couple of months back. And i must say: in terms of helpfullness and educatiion and improving my painting skill(z), your vids are by far(!) the best I've encountered. This Kitbashing Video is a great example of just how to do a hobby video right imo.
    I greatly enjoy every video u put out man, and im truly greatfull ur putting this much work into them. Thank You for ur effort, ur helping newbies like myself alot!!

      This makes me so happy to hear! This is exactly why I make the videos that I can. I came back to the hobby a few years ago and the online communities helped me a ton. I wanted to join in and put some of what I do and know out there to help inspire others getting into the hobby. Thanks for the support and if you are ever looking for feedback feel free to hit me up on Instagram 👍

    Great tutorial. I'd only add one minor thing. It's probably not an issue for Orkz since there's enough surface area to attach bits to. However, I'm a nids player, and I've found that for certain models (namely genestealers) Blue Stuff may not be strong enough to hold everything in place. You have an arm that's still relatively large, but a relatively much smaller joint, and often you want it raised into the air like it's about to strike either when you're test fitting or if you like to zenithal undercoat and then paint in sub-assemblies. In such a case, learning to pin your minis can really help. It's a pain because it's an extra step, but it may be worth it if you want to do conversions or paint to a higher standard.

    I am only building and paintig orks! I dont want to play, just enjoy making what I can imagine to be honest using GW and Kromelech bits along.
    Just wish I had as many bits as you haha!

    Any tips of getting back into painting? I’ve been procrastinating like crazy painting up my dark eldar 😓

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 5 lety +1

      Being excited about what you are painting helps. I sprinkle in random paint projects to keep things interesting and to get to try new things. Hence the random goblin or Eldar mini on my IG feed. I would also make sure your paints are accessible and ready. If you have to set up or clean up every time you get the urge to paint it might kill that initial drive. Lastly if you can, make painting a habit. Do a little each day, even if it’s for 10 mins. Often times the hardest part is just getting started, but once it’s part of a routine you’ll find yourself missing it if you don’t do it 👍

      @nekrataali Před 3 lety

      With Orks, you can do a lot with sheet styrene/plasticard and 2-part modeling epoxy (greenstuff, milliput, etc.). Having the extra bitz laying around from GW kits is nice, but it's understandable you're not going to have a lot of them if you're just getting into the hobby. I'd recommend stocking up on various plasticards in different shapes/sizes, most of which can be found at your local train hobby store for cheap (like $1.99 for a pack of three 6"x4" 3mm thick sheets).
      You also want to keep an eye out for recycled materials, especially for things made from plastic styrene (which is the type of plastic most miniatures are made out of). Throwing out some electronics? Pull out all the small pieces. Twist ties from the grocery? Strip the paper off and use the metal as wiring. Find some weird doodad under the sofa at your grandma's? Steal that shit and chop it up into something Orky.

    • @s.k4713
      @s.k4713 Před rokem

      You generate a lot of bits as you build models as a lot of ork kits come with a wide variety of spare parts. You can technically achieve the same effect with stuff like plasticard but imo it doesn’t look as good.
