Converting Miniatures for Beginners: How I made 4 Original Minis Out of Bits

  • Hello Cultists! I this video I'll show you how I convert 4 pit fighters from a pile of sprues and bits. I'll talk about why you might want to convert your miniatures, different approaches to making conversions and how you get started.
    When you been playing Warhammer, Necromunda, Kill Team, Age of Sigmar, or any of the other tabletop wargames, you'll eventually end up with a hoard of leftover bits. A fun way to put them to good use to make conversions.
    Conversions have been a stable of the hobby since the first tabletop wargamer climbed out of the primordial slime. There's a thriving community of people doing conversions, especially in Inq28, Blanchitsu, Mordheim and similar niche games and styles.

    The idea of a Grot Gladiator is just wonderful. I would definitely bet on him.

    For me, dental tools are a must for helping with greenstuff and sculpting, pin EVERYTHING, use cross hatch # markings where you want two flat sections to be superglued as will give better grip.

    I really really would like to see how you made the gun we can see at 46 seconds.
    Thx for the video!

      Ah, I made 10 of those for my Ork army, but the unit doesn't exist in the rules anymore, sadly. I won't be making any more, but maybe this'll help:
      The barrel is two styrene tubes.
      The bed and the armor is made from a 1 mm styrene sheet.
      The decorative shapes are 0.5 mm styrene sheet.
      Wheels are round MDF bases with a ribbon of 0.5 mm styrene wrapped around it.
      The rivets I made by slicing hexagonal and round styrene rods into discs.

    These conversions are really OK, kitbashing is one of my personal pleasures in this hobby, next time for better fix an head you could pin it, plus for a sure grip the Milliput could be moulded in a "torc", a sort of collar similar to Celtic ones.👍

    Lovely conversions, really like the ghoul one. Weird question, what do you use to base your goboz? Cause I have been looking for a dark flock for my minis.

    What do you prefer though green stuff or milliput? Is one easier to work with?

    • @thecultofcrafting
      @thecultofcrafting  Před rokem +1

      Miliput is easier to work with, but Green Stuff is stronger. It's kinda like working with clay vs. chewing gum.

      Honestly, I've just never figured out how to work properly with Green Stuff. People do amazing things with it. 🙂

      @@thecultofcrafting Thanks foir the info :-D. I tried working swith green stuff but I think you have to be super fast with it or it turns hard. I bought some milliput recently so i guess Ill use it for smaller stuff and bigger parts like titans etc ill save the greenstuff for xD

      @JMcMillen Před rokem +1

      @@reddragon4482 You don't have to be super fast with green stuff. In fact, some people recommend letting it sit for a bit after mixing before you try working with it.
