I finally found my dream drone. obstacle avoidance, looks like a mavic, has a telemetry, is under 200 dollars,has tracking, long range, landing lights, gps. only downside is that you have to register it. thank you Steve for making these videos and helping me find my dream drone. please make more videos like this. ❤

It's not a DJI or Autel, however for a beginner low budget drone with decent flight and video for $239. This is the cheapest I've seen so far with a feel for the quality features like the big big name drones. Thanks Cap!
"Decent flight and video". In what world is a 45° horizon considered "decent video"? This is terrible, and a deal-breaker for me. None of the video would be usable footage.
468g is too heavy even if it shipped to U.K.. Surprised it is that heavy. Also is the price you give without the obstacle avoidance or with? I get a different currency than $.

Always a pleasure but that extreme cold climate is messing up the reviews since we are seeing errors that normally we probably wouldn't but it's apparently a guess.
Yup. Most drones are made for temps above zero for perfect performance.

The weird flying might be caused by the sensor - Drone's trying to get away from obstacles. Most manuals advise taking off in an area free from nearby obstacles to avoid triggering the sensors. There was equipment / camera in front (and you behind) of drone. Would be interested to know if Max range is close to 5km ( 3km ones do 2.5km these days).

At first I thought it was an ice pick in case you fell through the ice (I realize most warm weather friends have no idea what I'm talking about). "Let's fly this drone straight at my groin...", lol, not sure if that would have been my first instinct but... 🥴 Keep having fun bud! 🤙
The dangly thingy is a touch pen to touch my phone screen because my many of my finger tips have had frostbite this year.... so I don't take my gloves off too often anymore when it is super cold.

I like it really nice case
My latest update.
After much troubleshooting and changing cell phones, I finally got it into the air.
I flew at night because I live near the ocean and I had to wait for the wind to calm down to a reasonable level.
I'm taking baby steps with this until I'm more comfortable, so I'm only flying a few meters high and staying within 150 feet of so. I also set the flight perimeters for distance and altitude very low for safety.
Here's some of the issues I had:
1) While flying I occasionally lose the ability to go left, right, forward, backward.....only up and down.
I refreshed all 3 devices and still had the problem.
2) GPS follow mode seems to work, but when I go into orbit mode it just sits in one place and does not circle me.
3) While experimenting with buttons and features, I pressed "Return To Home" , the drone flew about a 100 feet away and then shot straight up going WAY past my minimum altitude setting. Being only a few blocks away from the ocean, the wind is much stronger up there. The drone lights were just a tiny speck in the sky and my heart was pounding!
I pressed one key landing, return to home (again) and tried to manually descend....all to no avail.
Meanwhile the remote voice was saying 'Landing, Landing...." but it just stayed up there.
I ran towards the drone and got myself directly underneath it and was finally able to manually descend back to Earth far away from my launch location. Phew!!
4) I'm aware many drones tend to lose altitude when sweeping right or left....but this drone dives straight for the ground at about a 45% angle when doing so forcing me to simultaneously correct with the ascend throttle. Is this normal?
5) While testing the laser obstacle avoidance, I flew towards a building and it stopped as expected...however, I was not able to go backward, left or right....only straight down into some bushes.
6) All the beeps, whether they are alarms or just from pressing buttons are the same sound.....so when the remote starts beeping on it's own, I don't know what it's trying to tell me and there are no visual cues on either screen.
7) I'm not able to set waypoints while in the waypoint mode....I touch the screen but no dots appear. (more likely a phone, not drone, issue....but I can't seem to resolve)
8) I failed to notice if this drone could lock onto a subject and follow, as many drones do.
This drone does not. It only follows the remote. I was hoping it could follow my dog up and down the beach. But again, that's on me for not paying attention when I shopped this drone.
9) It's unfortunate the nice case has no place to store the laser or the two extra batteries.
I was hoping to be flying more confidently and safer sooner as I did with previous drones.
I'm going to have do some tweaking and get things right before I venture off or travel with it.
Any input/advice is greatly appreciated.

It seems like the software written for it is buggy or the sensors are low quality.
It's a shame because it's a good looking budget drone with a bunch of sensors...I love sensors, the more the better...but they have to work!

I've had no desire to launch a drone that has a mind of it's own and I have little control over.
I was hoping to get some feedback or advice from forums such as this....but nobody has anything to offer.
It's a shame that this drone sits in it's box never being flown..

This drone (which is a rebrand if another model) is practically ignored by almost all reviewers...I guess we've reached the point of just 1 to many budget mavic clones...lol
But it really shouldn't be that troublesome.
Find an empty park or field and make sure there's no tall structures nearby.
Calibrate the compass 1st horizontal/vertical...then calibrate the gyro.
(If the camera gimbal doesn't look down then up or at least level itself...the gyro isn't calibrating...)
Wait for GPS to lock at least 7 to 9 satellites and do a 1 button take off.
If it sits and hovers in a relatively small spot you know you got sat lock.
Fly it around for a few feet, return to close to where you took off and do a 1 button landing. (Through the app)
If all goes well do a manual take off.
Fly it within a 50 to 100 foot area, then do a return to home.
It should work...if it flies off to the unknown it was an unfortunate waste of $$$ and you'll have to move on.
Also, this thing has a pack of sensors...
It should fly pretty well OUT of GPS mode...
Attitude or whatever they call it.
The dual optical flow cams and the infrared blaster should keep it steady...

-19° is acceptable? I don't think so, at least not for me. I thought the drones performance was not bad? The video looks a little dark, but it's expected from a drone that's not as expensive.
It reminds me of that other drone similar to that one? I can't remember the name of it, but it also has the obstacle avoidance the same way. I'm sure someone will remind me.

Please, more videos with drone obstacle avoidance (budget or not). I would like to see how drones can follow you and avoid obstacles (there are few CZcams videos on this, but none of them showing how well a drone can keep following you while avoiding obstacles). If you were going to move from point A to point B, is the drone going to follow and avoid obstacles? I need a drone able to follow and record video. Any mini drone (below 250g) able to do this?
No but it sounds like you want a Skydio 2+. Best obstacle avoidance in the business.
Was just about to say, there are plenty of the Skydio 2 doing some crazy avoidance, but none are completely infallible. Especially when twigs of death enter the scene.

I looked at this drone in the beginning, and the more I looked into drone features and capabilities I found myself looking for more.
I decided that budget drones are just that after discovering Autel and DJI. GOING CHEAP will get you going However; getting deep satisfying gratification for what you get will leave you wanting more once you find out there's much better.
I found out that budget drones are for those not wanting to spend a lot to fly. I also found out that if you want to do more than save money, and plan on flying more than a few times a year budget is OK.
HOWEVER; Spending up to 300.00 to 400.00 dollars to get started, and then spending a 1000.00 dollars to get better entry level drones led me to DJI AIR 2S AND THE Autel Evo lite plus.
Now the Evo lite plus is competing with DJI for my 1st entry level drone. The Mavic 3, or the Evo lite plus......and it's so tough to choose I am thinking about grabbing both. 🤔
Captain Drone you are one of the best CZcams drone enthusiasts reviewer out here. You are loyal only to the sport and your Evo lite plus review put me in this predicament.
Your review of this drone helps "ME" to see that the cheaper drones are just that.....entry-level wallet traps that will get you flying, and cause you to want to spend more eventually. 😉
I am a techie and if it's fun and I can use it more than once a week I am all in. I
Am not rich, but I build PCs with processors costing over 800.00 and video cards that cost up to 1000.00 dollars.
I spent 1000.00 just for rods for my 2jzgte. I find that if you save enough you can spend more to get better. 💯
If you can't find it in your budget to spend 1000.00 get what you can, but you better not be buying a case of 🍺 🍻 or cigarettes weekly because eliminating those items can get you more drone for your money.
I work hard as a blue collar worker and I work overtime just to afford something like a Mavic 3. I work hard , and I like to play harder. I save to go to 5 star resorts not 3 stars. Now I want a 5 star drone for the price of a trip to a 5 star 🌟 resort. I am in the process of studying for my part 107 before I have a drone go figure 😅. CZcams study course, and practice test so far have me getting 80s to as high as 100 on practice test.
I want to fly as limitless as possible, and put pictures on my car group site of my 2jzgte final install, and 1st drive with a drone. This is only the beginning.
Go hard or go home.....but don't just go to be going if you want to enjoy life😉

When you power on the drone, if the avoidance is not connected, then it flys fine without it.

When I read your reviews, I wonder what drone you are writing about. My first XMRC M10 ULTRA drone at a distance of about 400 meters suddenly disconnected and ran away. Unfortunately, I did not find it. I bought a second one. I wait 2 minutes for 8 satellites. Autel and DJI in the same place catch 20 satellites in seconds. Waypoint flight was never started. I use a Xiaomi Mi11 phone, tested various connectivity settings and never saw a map with the drone highlighted. Maybe you have some hints.

F11s pro 4k is the best budget drone in the £200 limit. It's got good video good battery and good range.
The video is only ok, but drone itself seems decent enough, wonder if you could fit a better gimbals and camera on it.

Seems okay, but the low temperature surely must have influenced it's working. The bright snow messed up exposure (NO camera settings, correct?)
The cold certainly affected the camera sensor and gimbal.

Whats Bangood like - I've been wary of buying from it but see it used a lot by Cap Drone
It is excellent as long as you lose your North American or European expectations. I’ve used it for 10 years without issue. Watch my video CAPTAIN DRONE BUYING DRONES FROM CHINA so that you can understand the system.
Many drones tested have had gimble issues at those temps. Basically below their rated temperature.

I'm not exactly sure, but this drone is not really designed for lifting.
In videos I've seen, this drone lifts small or light weight things such as rings, a flower, fishing line, etc.

I have been struggling to find an inexpensive drone for my kid that won't make us both beat our heads against the wall. He is a decent flier and responsible for his age, but I can't see throwing down for a DJI Mini 2 yet (he is 8). He has spent is own hard earned money on several piece of junk (most recently the sky viper GPS which we never got to sync with new iOS) and unfortunately, after a lot of tears, Target won't take it back. Any suggestions? Be nice to keep it under $200, if possible.
Best option if you live in the USA is the DJI MINI SE at $299 or less.
I was interested in this drone for the performance declared by the manufacturer, in particular for the altitude of 800 meters reachable from the take-off point.in your opinion what's better to buy, between SG906 MAX2 BEAST3 and M10 ULTRA? many buyers of the M10 Ultra have complained about frequent connection losses and a WIFI signal transmission range of less than 1 km. Also can you tell me something about the real maximum altitude you reached with this drone from the take-off point? Could you tell me something more about it?
The drones you mentioned are city park fun drones and not for serious flying or filming so the manufacturers specs may be less than accurate.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ZLL/ZLRC drones appear to be the best quality with performance similar to DJI. The Image quality on my SG108 was actually comparable to my Mini2 - Didnt reach 1000m range as per specs, but reached 700m+ in a lightly populated area (others have reached 1km). Their quality is reflected in their pricing

Depends what you mean by professional work. A real estate agent and wedding photographer have different requirements for drones as professionals. The wedding photographer requires a $2000 drone as the lowest price but a real estate agent can get away with something as simple as a DJI mini SE… so that is the lowest in price.

My Android phone says wifi is connected to drone with an excellent signal.
However, the drone app says not connected to wifi.
Waited almost 3 months for drone to arrive and I can't fly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sounds like if you MANUALLY connect your phone to the drone, and then opened the APP, and it says disconnect, it then means one of two things:
1. Your phone did not remain connected, so close the app, then connect it again, then open the app.
2. Your using the wrong app.

I am not very impressed by the video quality, seemed a discolored and a bit grainy?
Seems it only follows from one distance. Just like my S188. Can't change distance or height. The moment you use the sticks it goes out of follow-me more. Which makes the feature basically worthless.

I bought this drone and am trying to register it with the FAA online and it needs a serial number which I can't find anywhere and it is costing $40 to register. I thought the price to register for recreational use was $5? Any idea about where to find the serial number and is that cost right? Thanks much.
Serial number is what you see when you search for the wifi from the drone.

Seems like a reasonable drone at a reasonable price. I wonder how far it will actually fly under heavy, rural wifi conditions. If it's above average for a budget drone that is a super deal! Thanks for sacrificing your body for drone science yet again.

The cam is blurry. This is unusual even for a cheap drone. Maybe the lens of the cam is defect (you removed all the protective stickers, didn't you? 😬)
The cold affects the image sensors on drones... especially ones sensitive to cold.
CAPTAIN...switching warp power to the inertial dampers. Hopefully that will level us out...… Nice review....😆

for when you calibrate it.
you dont put the whole thing upright and you just make it do a barrel roll
and for the other one you just make it does 360 on its axis
you do not do flips or it will inaccurate.

You did the calibration wrong & you don’t have sufficient satillites
ya know steve....its probably WAY out of your budget... but you should move to vancouver or close to the region in BC.... we don't have those crazy cold weathers and there are endless places to get the best cinematic footage.
