About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

A sundial in the center or a mosaic with your beautiful LaLacelle letters from your Logo.
Thank you 🙏😊
I love this idea. My mom had a sundial in her garden and it looked so classy.
I love the sundial ideal.
A gazebo with flowerbeds around it, some pillars and climbing trees🤩
Maybe a flowering cherry in centre of a patio with lovely old wrought iron benches x❤🎉❤🎉
I love the updated intro. It really is one of the better one of all the vlogers I watch. I vote for a sundial. ❤😊
Idea for center circle:
2 benches on the sides in the middle would be a statute symbolizing love of family, since the love of family is what created the chateau
2 bench outer edge and statute in middle
a small decorative round gazebo with benches in it would provide a perfect viewing spot for the garden, even while it rains. Would also provide the perfect spot to have a wedding or something like that in future
That would be pretty..
You guys are absolutely amazing! Dont ever apologise for updating us on all the work that's involved in making your beautiful chateau shine. Its a gargantuan task that you have all taken on. We appreciate that every task you undertake makes such a massive difference in making her look better and better. Thank you.
"...and that's it" you say so matter-of-factly. 😊
I love Patrick, even when he's soooooo sleepy he can't stand it he won't lay down.... way too afraid he might miss an opportunity to dig something!
Terry, just wanted to tell you that your editing of this episode was brilliant! Beautiful music combined with excellent photography. A real pleasure to experience and it feels like we’re right there with you in the garden. Excellent progress outdoors in the garden! Cheers! ❤️🇨🇦
I love watching Patrick helping you to dig , he’s such a character.💗🇬🇧
Love Patrick also!! He’s the best helper!!
You three are amazing. I often think of the huge staff these chateaux used to have and you do it all without much outside help. You should all feel really good about your incredible progress.
Ash and Terry you must have an exceptional relationship to continually work and live together. Long may it last I just love all your family xxx
I know you don't want to block the beautiful view so i love the sundial idea. Rounded benches that mimick the rounded edges and a urn with flowers between them. Im sure you'll come up with something amazing.
I bet you all sleep sound at night. All of that work is exhausting. You are all getting great sun color in your faces. Patrick and Sasha make great supervisors. Awesome job, all.❤
For the center a low, 36” high? square granite or cement pillar with cut out or raised panels on all four sides with your beautiful chateau logo carved into the raised panels or raised in the carved out panels - in granite or cement. And on the top, an iron - or whatever you can find - sun dial - antique? - or a simple round concrete or granite bird bath - or a simple round concrete or granite bowl of whatever plants your garden designer would plan. Well…you asked!
It has been a monumental task for all of you, but so worth it! It is looking beautiful already without the plants. I can't even imagine what it will look like with the plants! How nice to have some days without rain!
I think a white metal gazebo with table, chairs and with climbing roses and wisteria would be beautiful! Someplace people could sit and have a glass of wine while they enjoy the garden views, smell the smells and hear the water fountains! A place to sit and enjoy instead of a walk through garden. The white metal would be open and wouldn’t interfere with the views
I've watched videos of the Chateau restoration from the beginning stages, somehow it makes me feel humble knowing you all gave this lonely place some TLC and bringing it back to life.
I'll be glad when you all can finally sit back and enjoy your hard work. 😊
I just love the music they play. It is so relaxing.
Yes, a sundial in the centre and benches around the edges of the circle, around the sundial, so people can relax and enjoy the garden.
The manual work you have completed is so admirable. I recently dug out a 3 foot section and was frozen for 2 days. I don’t know how your mom does it. She’s a machine ❤
Every time I come to visit your episodes, I am SO ABSOLUTELY AMAZED. Your garden is a dream! The persistance of effort, determination, and love is inspiring to me. Thank you!!
I could tell Terry was tired at the end of this video. You all put every bit of yourselves into all the projects you tackle to make your dreams a reality and the results are simply stunning.
Massive accomplishments! Your Mum is an amazing woman! Kudos & ❤ to you all! 💗💗
I love what y'all are doing in your formal garden. What I love most is seeing Terry & Ash working alongside each other and of course Patrick right in the middle of everything. What a hound! 😅
All of you just amaze me that you are able to do this heavy work and still retain your sanity!
It may seem like you didn’t accomplish a lot, but you did even the little jobs like patching stonework around the top of the château. Needs to be done and time-consuming. The breaking up of concrete is a necessity to accomplish what you need for the future of the château vision. You need irrigation otherwise, you’re gonna be out there twice a day watering all those plants and electric out there. You’re all extremely busy and working hard. I appreciate whatever you do put into these videos. ❤👏🏼 ❤ I thank you for your hard work, and diligence no matter what work you’re doing for this video and every other one. 💗
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Historically in a focal point like the one you have there, there was a sun dial there. Either a very plain sun dial on a plinth or a globe out of metal on a small column. Having small benches around it would look lovely.
The gardens are truly taking BEAUTIFUL shape!!! 🥰🎶❤️🎶🌻🌻🌻🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏰🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
This garden will look stunning when bushes and flowers come into bloom.
I walk there in my dreams...I see a stately statue. Love watching !
I like the idea of a beautiful lady statue standing on a plinth greeting and welcoming everyone to her garden
YOU THREE ARE FANTASTIC THE Amount OF WORK YOU ARE PUTTING IN TO THE GARDEN IS Amazing AND WATCH MUM DIGGING AWAY HOPE SHE A NICE HOT BATH TO LOOK FORWARD TO. WHERE IS OUR YOUNG JON ATHAN not seen him Lately anyway TAKE CARE xxxx
He’s good just been at school 🥰🥰 Thank you 🙏😊
Absolutely love the old photo with the shutters, roof finials and porch 😍 x
Glad you like them! 🥰
You're doing an absolutely Stirling job. Not only on your wonderful re-imagining and restoration of the Chateau itself, but on your creating from scratch a formal, period garden to enhance this wonderful building. Just remembering what it all looked like when you first walked in there to what you have now achieved is just amazing. This is all thanks to all of your individual talents and efforts. Wishing you all success in your great endeavour and many happy days and years ahead. 🤗❤️
Thanks so much Ron 🥰
@@chateaudelalacelle you're very welcome ☺️
Unbelievable effort and dedication. The passion for this garden is showing in every thing you do. ❤️
I bet when you all go in at night you sleep like logs, from all the work you do. Working in the garden is a great workout and one day soon, you all will be able to sit and enjoy that beautiful garden you have created. A very sweet reward. Little Patrick deserves a special little corner of the garden for all his hard work too. The little guy is out there supervising n keeping you all on track! He makes me smile whenever i see him waddling over to check the progress and offer a little digging inspiration.
Haha. We do joyce 🥰
the garden is definately Ash's happy place! ❤
It really is 🥰🥰
Wait until it’s a 7 day job 😆
You guys are the hardest working of the reno channels I watch! The garden is already looking amazing and I’m sure the end result will be equally spectacular! Bravo!👏
I thought there would be a big fountain in the centre and two statues in the side circles but two fountains makes sense, cause it makes more moisture in the garden. You have done so much hard work in a short time. Respect for all of you.
I love reading other s comments beautiful and I have to agree with most of them. And Terry does do such an exceptional job with getting his videos out and the music is good. It really is but this video to me is very exceptional. The music is extraordinary. The photos and shots around the property are absolutely mesmerizing. The camera comes in and shows such details of what is being done + we all can't say it enough. The whole family are hard workers. Absolutely hard workers and Ash. It is good to see that you have found a spot that you really love in this formal garden to be and it will be exquisite and we are alone for the journey. God bless you all❤❤❤
The view of the chateau from the garden is lovely.
God bless your mother. I don't know how she does it. The garden is really coming along. It will be absolutely amazing.
Beautiful job, your mom is amazing, how hard she works. Hats off to you all.
Maybe add a sun dial with the benches, or a statue, or sculpture. All could accommodate benches depending on how large or small the center piece is.
Thanks Karen 🥰
It is taking shape beautifully and it was so lovely to see the old painting of how the gardens and the chateau used to look. Well done. Been thinking how much you must all enjoy soaking in a wonderful hot bath to ease your aching muscles. 💕
Thank you 🙏😊
I’m with the others….sun dial and maybe two curved stone benches on edges for seating. Stone urn between benches with your beautiful flower 🌺 choices? Luv this so much!!!!! You guys are awesome!
Thank you 🙏😊
When the gravel arrives make use of your caravans and have a big invite to stay and work hard moving it saves just you three working so hard
Inspiring as always. Most of us watching are going outside getting the garden look nice.
Thanks Tommy 🥰
Your attention to detail is admirable. It is going to be a triumph when it is finished, only due to you all leaving nothing to chance. Wow!
Thanks Jocelyn 🥰
The walled garden is coming along wonderfully! I get so excited with every new episode! I can't believe the three of you have accomplished so much. I'm so proud of you!! I have a rainy day project idea for you...make an appropriate sized copy of your beautiful monogram. Cut a stencil of it and use it on all sorts of projects for the chateau. I think it would be lovely to use on the upper panels of your main painted doors with gold accents. Also it could be used on trays...even tea towels with acrylic paint...with your imaginations the ideas are limitless! Your monogram is so beautiful it is a shame not to use it on lots of items! Have fun you clever boys!😊
I love the idea of benches in the centers…providing a lovely place to sit and view the gardens. ❤
Terry when are planning to clean the front tower? This will be fantastic. Are you going to clean the side walls also to complete the whole building? We are looking forward to see the shutters back. They will certainly protect the internal windows in heavy storms and make the chateau more safe when you are away. We are thrilled to watch so much progress. You are an amazing team. Lots of love to Mum Tracy. She is a heroine!
An outdoor/stone 3 seater "conversation piece" would be nice in the middle. Low, peaceful, contemplative. A seat facing 3 directions.
I love the new introduction!
My goodness Jonathan has grown! My fav family!
So b o r i n g
L O L
getting all of this grunt work that needs to be done
finally done.
And Patrick watching you all do almost all of the work as he is worn out.
Loving the Progress!
Keep it rolling forward.
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! !
I would love to know how much dirt Patrick has moved w all of his digging. He is always hard at it! LOL!
love the idea of a statue, but surrounded by thymes, can be walked on too and adore growing in gravel. Love from New Forest 🇬🇧
Have you seen Stephanie’s video of her walled garden. In the centre they have an open style pergola with roses(I think) growing through it and a small table and chairs under the open roof. It’s going to be lovely once the plants have matured. I think it would be a romantic area to share a beverage with your special someone 🤷🏼♀️🇦🇺
In the center what would look nice is a tiered garden statue and plant flowers in it.
My back aches just watching you all. Good thing you are young and healthy!
Thanks unicorn 🥰🥰
I was thinking the same Oh to be young and fit again........
I also have puppy dog shadows following me wherever I go…so if this was my property I would craft up a miniature replica of the chateau for the dogs to lounge in for the middle of the circle while I sat on the benches to enjoy the garden. It would be a fun and unique addition to the garden that would highlight the family’s love for their dogs.
Center patio with a gazebo over it to provide support for grapes, roses or wisteria. Under it you can have curved benches. In slammer areas you can have a column holding a gazing ball and in another a sundial.
Nice to see the progress as always, and little Patrick's "help" always makes me smile.
Haha. Always he’s helping 🥰🥰
I think it needs a large magnificent fountain in the centre and x2 statues in the smaller circles. Xx
A beautiful shady tree would be nice in the circle. You could then place one of those circular benches around its base for people to sit in the shade and admire the garden.
Wow, that is a huge amount of work Terry, well done as always to the team of you, Ash, Tracy and Patrick. In awe of all that you have achieved, it is going really quick and it will be beautiful, can't wait as always to see the garden planted and the steps taken with the chateau.
Oh look at poor Tracey being made to toil on the garden!😅😅😅❤❤❤❤
It’s looking so GOOD! Can’t wait for the gravel!
Won’t be long 🥰🥰
I'd love to see a pergola, painted white, in the centre of the huge circle with a couple of benches to sit on, I think it would look amazing
I really like the idea of the sundial with the mosaic. Maybe put planters beside the benches for some shade. The benches are a great idea. I’d want a place to sit in the middle of it all and just breathe
Thank you 🙏😊
A low water fountain with a set of spurting water jets would fit the center circle. Then on the exterior of the circle facing the fountain, a ringed cement bench.
The garden is going to be stunning. You have all done an incredible job. Congratulations 😊🇬🇧
Stephanie Jarvis from Château diaries, put a metal gazebo in the middle of her circle with a table and chairs and then she’s going to have ivy growing up over top. That might look nice.
I really hope that you consider a beautiful gazebo in the center. It doesn’t have to be a large overpowering one. It would be a lovely place to sit and enjoy the garden ❤❤❤
I like the idea of benches and a sundial with gravel and a few pots with plants with gravel all the way around.
Thanks Thomas 🥰
Absolutely 🤗
You could also include stepping stones with your logo as a mosaic
A couple more lights for going down out of the garden, by the beautiful old staircase ? Its all amazing, team La Lacelle ❤😊 !!
The garden is coming along great, you all work so hard it's going to look amazing, bet you sleep well your body's are worn out. I would be out like a light😴. Tracy you are a diamond 💎, take care all🫂🫂 love Jones family XXX
Thanks so much as always Jean 🥰🥰
THANK YOU for building such a beautiful garden plan!! It is coming together in such an awesome way. I cannot wait for the planting as I am sure you cannot wait either!!
Thanks so much Vicki 🥰🥰
You 3 have the best work ethic. Well done. ❤👏👏
Everything is just coming together so beautifully and I know it will be truly exquisite but I'm back again and I in the big circle. I really think a beautiful pedestal with a large urn with cascading plants and flowers with the benches on either side would be exquisite❤❤❤
Your hard work will be rewarded.
I have found it to be really exciting watching your beautiful landscaping going in. I can't wait to see it progress.
Totally inspiring, your vision and attention to detail your hard work wow ,Terry, your mum what a lady ❤️
One day at a time ❤
Some shade and some seating to enjoy the garden on a beautiful day!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
You’ve done an amazing job, Terry 🥰
Thank you so much 😀
Centre will need a small pavilion where you can sit in shade and view the beautiful garden.
Thank you 🙏😊
Maybe , when you done with the fundamentals of the garden and layout, sit back and check out what you fancy putting in that circle , your landscape gardener may have some bright ideas
Thanks Skattie 🥰🥰
I agree with Skattie
And please do what you guys want you're doing a knock out job. I love it
Heavy dirty work for you all. Make sure to hydrate as you work. The chateau walls look fab when they are clean.love as always from County Durham xxx ❤
Thanks Glenys. It’s a good job beer is cheaper than water 🥰🥰😊😂
I can't wait to see the gardens ready! ❤
Your back breaking work takes my breath away. Well done, your garden will be amazing!
Thank you 🙏😊
Like the sundial idea maybe with a round stone base to match the garden walls and a mosaic top around the outer edge of the sundial in the center with small flowers planted around at the base.
..
Thanks Roxanne 🥰
You have the most abundant verdant moss; somewhere near Tracy’s rockery you should include a moss garden with some lovely statues.
You must be pretty sick of digging, but…. It would be nice to dig out a round pond in the middle of the big circle, surrounded by a very low rim and paving with garden seats. I have seen this sort of arrangement on quite a few large gardens and parterres, it provides a resting or reflection heart to the parterre. 👍🇦🇺🌸
Love the grime line on the chateau!
I will always love that video intro...can't get enough. Continued best wishes from Indianapolis, Indiana USA
Wow!! That garden is going to be sooo beautiful!!!! You most definitely can tell where you washed the back of the house. It looks so gorgeous!! Another great episode!! Lots of love from Tennessee!!
Thank you so much April 🥰🥰
Ash is smashing that edging. Well done.. Terry, please place tops or buckets over raised rear, especially down the bottom of steps.. I hate for any of you miss your footing.. 😢 DEFINITELY a sun dial
Looks great so clean! ❤ I see Supervisor Patrick is on the job!
💜💙💚 A Orange tree in a lemon box. Or a lemon tree in a lemon box. For the spring and summer months. Then move a Christmas tree of some sort in a lemon box for the fall and winter seasons. Sort of like the ones the have at the palace of Versailles gardens. Sort of a large Bonsai, so it doesn't detract from the space. 🥰
More work done!! It just loads of time and you all have to be feeling the aches snd sore muscles ❤🎉❤
