I liked this tale, and as a kid I found the Keeper genuinely sinister.

The Keeper was a great character in a bit of a sub-par tale. I wish the men in black and guards would've been more on his level.
I enjoy this episode even more as an adult, but that's because I was a sonar technician in the Navy and am fascinated by how sound works.
So i were to vote and give my thoughts on the episode, it gets a well deserved" Approved".
Looking forward to The Unfinished Painting, a criminally underrated episode IMO.

I've been looking forward to The Closet Keepers. This was a particularly special episode for me as a kid. Due to losing an eardrum to an infection when I was small, I was nearly deaf on one side (until surgery in my early teens, where they put a graft in). This was the first time I'd ever seen a deaf main character on TV, and I related to Stacy being made fun of by the others - I got much the same at school for being the kid with a hearing aid.
Yeah, kids are the absolute worst and I regret my part in ever being one. Sorry that you had to deal with kids being jerks. I'm glad they were able to restore your hearing eventually though.
Hey i have hearing aids too! but that is because of loud music.
Although I was not a deaf kid I related to Staci here.
But later as a teen I know not related but as a teen I was diagnosed as autistic and currently part of the asd community.

This episode I think is pretty solid so I would have voted "approved" here as well. While I wish we had a deaf actress, the character was still good and the growth with Billy is good with the villain being fun. There's a few things they could have polished overall, balanced and solid.
Next is Unfinished Painting is kinda slight but it's nice enough, see ya then.
Yeah, there is a good episode in there. It's just a bit clunky, which keeps it from being great.
Does it really matter that the actress wasn’t deaf though? Tom Hanks isn’t retarded, so should he have not played Forest Gump? Maybe deaf girls auditioned for the role, but they weren’t as good of an actress.
@@michaelperez9966 I feel like representation matters in an industry that still thought it was okay to do "black face" in the 80s. Now, sure, maybe some deaf actresses auditioned for the role and didn't get it, but knowing how the industry works, I highly doubt they auditioned any. And yes, I get that it is acting and that the person doesn't need to be deaf, but there are deaf actors and actresses so it would be nice if they could get the roles of deaf characters when they appear in productions.

The phallus door has stuck with me since childhood. Budget may be a reason why this episode was not as scary as, in theory, it could have been for us. Yep, he was! He just put on a British accent for it.
That was my favourite Goosebumps episode. The set for the castle was actually Casa Loma in Toronto, it was a pretty cool place when I went there!

I always forget this episode exists. It’s not one of my favorites, but it’s not bad either. It’s just not memorable in my opinion.
I remember this episode really vividly from childhood. I didn't find it scary at the time but I did find the alien environments fascinating. There's something about the exaggerated fake human decorations in the cells that captured my imagination even though they're not really focused on in the story. It made me think about the alien visitors to the zoo and what they thought about humanity.
Watching as an adult, I realise that I'd completely forgotten about the Keeper character. What's the deal with his personal hygiene (teeth, fingernails etc)? The MIB and guards don't have that issue so why is it exclusive to him? Is he a human who's making a living selling out other humans? I can't figure out what the writers/director are trying to say about his character with his appearance. He feels like a villain who'd fit better in a story about a ghostly Victorian circus or something XD
Yeah, his look doesn't scream alien zookeeper or even alien showman. Maybe an alien snake oil salesman, but as you pointed out, he's not very alien. I'm sure the human look of him and the MIB was due to budget, but if I had to give my own backstory, I'd say he's an alien from a human-like species, the MIB are robots (hence why they are so stiff and awkward), and the guards are humans that were captured as kids and broken into obedience over time, forgetting they were once human (I realize that doesn't make a lot of sense in the episode since the human zoo thing is just being started, but I like the idea of it and it tracks with they way he abuses that guard).

I’m on the autism spectrum with sensitivity to loud/ high pitched noises, so this episode stayed with me because their reaction to noise is mine whenever I was in the lunchroom in elementary school
I'm sorry to hear about the noise sensitivity. Are there ways to dull the sound, aside from things like earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones?
@@JackOfAllNerdsShow In my 30ish years of life, I’ve learned to adapt. Mostly by avoiding loud places and always carrying noise canceling devices. Sensory deprivation tanks have proven to be a godsend. Thanks for the comment. Most people just think I’m crazy or a drama queen cause I don’t ‘look autistic’…. I love your videos be the way. It is great to see others loving one of the top shows of my childhood 😉
What I think is funny about this episode is that all the other kids in captivity all come from various countries from around the world and yet they all speak with Canadian and American accents.

Haha, well, I'm always putting it on when filming. I don't actually hate Tucker or the actor who played him. I don't really want to be abducted by aliens...or by anyone for that matter. Sure the real me is on screen to some degree, but I am also playing a character of me that is largely overdramatized. I'm pretty boring in person.
@@JackOfAllNerdsShow hahaha well obviously there is some exaggeration, I guess I'm just picking up on where the acting is more because I've been watching for so long and it's pretty top-notch so I've been trying harder I try to remember that you took acting school or whatever went to school and did it, because you're pauses and stuff are just so perfectly timed
@@ec6933 Haha, I never went to school for acting. I took one semester of a drama class in high school, but that was mainly because it was a breezy elective with mostly girls in the class. I had already been doing theater acting for a few years before then. And then I got really wrapped up in the theater world after high school when I started writing plays. Often times to get my plays into production I would have to direct, produce, and also act in them. And a few years after that I got to be in one low budget movie that almost no one has ever watched, but it was fun, I made good money on it, and it was a tremendous learning experience. Anyway, I'll stop blabbering and accept your compliment. Thank you!

Yeesh… so much Eric hate. BTW, be honest - you wanted to end up like Boll from the final episode of “Night Court”, right? I’m glad this Billy learned his lesson as opposed to the other Billy from the movie “Carrie”. All in all, I really enjoy this episode though I’m sorry they missed a good pun by instead calling the episode “The Tale of the Trapper Keepers”. I am glad that they made this episode sign language inclined, though the sets were lackluster and potentially may result in a call to Chris Hanson. That sucks about your medical issues but as someone with decompensated cirrhosis, I know how you feel with just trying to get through tough medically trying times. I can’t wait for the next episode - btw, the alien cameos were a, in the words of Garfield the Cat, “nice touch”

Yeah this episode was ok, the alien zoo is the most interesting concept. You're right, there totally is a twilight zone episode on the same subject, now I want to search it up and watch that one too. I hope your medical issues get better quickly! ❤
Yeah, in the one I'm thinking of a couple wake up and there is no one else around. Everything turns out to be fake. Fake food, fake plants/grass, etc. and the big reveal is they are in a model set of a neighborhood being watched by a giant alien. Not quite a zoo, but very similar in the concept. The Twilight Zone had some great stuff!
