    I thought I was the only one who heard Savage Garden when watching Melissa Joan Hart.
    This episode and the one with the bicycle were always depressing to me. But the way he says “I’m cold” is definitely engrained in my mind ever since I was a kid.

      Oh yeah, and the bicycle episode is in this season as well. I re-watched it last year when I was gearing up for this season's reviews and, you're right, it has such a downer opening.

    I have to admit, between the basis of your channel on are you afraid of the dark as well as that parody with Clarissa explains it all, your channel takes me back to the good old days of my childhood. I actually am a delivery driver at Domino's. Every time I go out on a delivery, I refer to it as going on one of The adventures of Pete and pete. Since I'm a closing driver, after all the cleaning and everything is done, me and two other drivers actually hang out in the parking lot and we'll sit in the back of my SUV drinking beers and chopping it up over how things went with our day as well as clowning around and ways we normally don't do during working hours. I actually just started referring to our group as our own version of The midnight society!

      Well let's see, there's this one guy I work with that looks and sounds like filbert from Rocco's modern Life so I call him filbert at times. Even use the reference turn the Page and wash your hands. And there was another one that used to work with us named Doug and me and this other guy call him Doug funny. And outside the realm of nickelodeon, I'm a fan of pro wrestling and I refuse to refer to the organization as wwe. Instead I still call it WWF. And of course several years ago I worked at a warehouse and me and one of my co-workers were talking about the show Rugrats and we have determined that Angelica was the Hillary Clinton of that show. Now after looking at some of the other comments, I still remember hey dude and salute your shorts and all that other good stuff. I probably could go on but I'm pretty buzzed right now and I'm about to tap out.

      I almost forgot one of my all-time favorites. Beavis and butthead! As a matter of fact because it came on at such a relatively late hour back then, my parents demanded I was in bed when it was on so because I had a TV and VCR in my bedroom, I would always set my VCR to tape it when it came on so that way I can watch it the next day after school. Nachos are like cool and stuff!

      Same! It’s weird because technically there is nothing antagonistic or malevolent about the ghost but this is the episode that almost made me “nope” this show the first time I saw it lol. It was just so unsettling, with the eerie little voice and the creepy music as he’s looking out the window. And then that whole sequence in the woods…ugh. I agree with you about Mayleen. She'd make an excellent subject for either a true crime documentary on Investigation Discovery or one of those overly deliberately spooky shows that's on Travel Channel nowadays, not that I dislike those or anything.

      [POV: the dinner scene with Charles, Daphne, and the aunts]
      Greta: "Walter was our old maintenance man. It's a shame he had to run off."
      Daphne: "Because you couldn't pay him?"
      Mayleen: "No, dear. I happened to go outside one day while he was using a wood chipper. They never found the body of that poor man! 🥲 *picks up teapot* Tea?" 🤣

    Melissa was a great cameo, for this episode, indeed. Snick being meta with itself, perhaps. I like that this story, had a story, as well, with regard to the ghost. Though, it is overall not the most terrifying episode, it does everything that an anthology ghost story is supposed to do. I also like the twist, at the end, for the aunts. I have more in common with Charles, as a kid, than I care to admit, though that's my oversharing, haha. Nothing helps character development and progression more than helping a supernatural entity. Great vid! #Snick #90s #fan #AYAOTD

    I want to say thanks for doing these very in-depth review to this comedy. I know you have a horror channel, but have you thought about doing the other Nickelodeon shows for the 90s. Salute your shorts, Pete and Pete, hey dude?

    • @JackOfAllNerdsShow
      @JackOfAllNerdsShow  Před 3 lety +1

      Well, my channel isn't really a horror channel. Are You Afraid of the Dark? is the only horror-esque thing I really cover and that is only because I loved the show as a kid. I'm definitely not opposed to covering other Nick shows from the 90s eventually, but right now my plate is full. I already do this show and a review show for Batman the Animated Series. And I do a history show, movie reviews with my friend as well as our podcast that we do too. Maybe once I finish AYAOTD I can move on to another Nick show.

    I personally disagree that this episode was good - aside from some cool, creepy camera work, overall I thought it was boring, though the best characters in the episode were the Aunts who did steal the show, and I guess the babysitter, for the guys who had/have a crush on Melissa Joan Hart. :P BTW, I'm surprised that you didn't use the obvious jokes when you see the boy in the car wrapped up like that - "Randy finally moved his arms!" or the other joke - "Ferguson finally found a way to get even whiner". As for the review - nice job! I look forward to the next one.

      Haha! I loathe A Christmas Story so you won't catch me using any references from it. When I'm writing my script I just go with my gut reaction to the situation and in that particular case, he looked like the Alec Baldwin Shadow to me.
      And I could see how this episode isn't for everyone. Not much really happens in the episode. Aside from the creepy scenes, there isn't any real danger. The ghost just wants its stupid jacket back so it's not a threat to anyone. The real threat is Aunt Maylene, who probably baked both those kids into a pie after the "happy ending."

      @@JackOfAllNerdsShow I personally hate Xmess movies but I did like that joke about Randy and that was what came to mind. As for the creepy second Aunt Maylene , she may be a blatant red herring but still she’s still a creepy one. My guess is she is either a misanthrope, or maybe she is a old age pastel goth? Plus that would explain why she has a lot of Ravens around the house... that or she wants to emulate either Norma Bates herself OR she is like that old lady in “The Ghost and Mr Chicken” who says “And they used Bon-Ami” and says my favorite joke “The ghost of Old Man Simmons doesn’t play as well as he used to.” Lastly, RIP fruit pie.. 😭.
