    I remember seeing this as a kid and realizing the kid who plays Jason is the brother in Beethoven. I remember thinking “woah that kid was in Beethoven and is now on are you afraid of the dark, what a life this kid has had”

      I haven't even thought about that movie since I was a kid. I'll have to look up some images to see him in it.

      A friend of mine met the kid, he’s pretty nice but nothing like his “brainiac” characters.

    I agree with you on this one. The story sounds good on paper (an old prison haunted by a convict they forgot about, the scare almost writes itself), but it was haphazardly told. A kid wouldn't have thought too much into all the plotholes.
    And yeah, I always loved how the librarian was the same gag from The Tale of the Prom Queen 😂

      Yeah, this one should've been a slam dunk, but instead it feels like they went out of their way to make it kinda lame.

    I was at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco and they actually have an Alcatraz gift shop at Pier 39. Got my old man a T-shirt from there. Also good job on the Nike commercial with Shia. That was really clever.

    Even as a kid when it first aired my first thought when hearing C-7 was "You sunk my battleship!" Anyone else? Just me?

      If you secretly don't put your ships on the board, they'll never sink your battleship. That's my strategy, anyway.

    Christopher Castile who played Jason also played Mark in Step by Step. I remember the episode where the mom has a bad dream and he had red eye contacts and acted like a vampire. It was goofy.

    The prison closed in 1949, so it’s possible it was a museum by the late 1960s or early 1970s.

    • @JackOfAllNerdsShow
      @JackOfAllNerdsShow  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yeah, like I said, I believe they were using Alcatraz as the blueprint for their prison, which re-opened to tourists 10 years after it closed. Using that model, if it closed in 1945, it could've opened back up in 1955, just in time for Marty McFly to make his fateful trip back in time.

    I actually think this is an underrated episode with a bittersweet ending. I’m glad that they were able to give the daughter some closure in regards to what happened to her Dad.

    Another great, insightful and entertaining review! Honestly, I don't remember this episode at all. Maybe watched it once or twice as a kid; But this episode somehow escaped me. Despite the history in this episode being absolute bonkers and inconsistent. I don't have anymore to say about it. I'll have to rewatch it sometime.
    Also, thanks for the shoutout in the end. 😁👍

      What's funny, is not liking the episode sent me down a history rabbit hole and I love history (and making videos), so I guess it wasn't all bad. I just really wish we would've used that prison better.

    I assumed he had an instant fatal heart attack. Otherwise why would nobody have heard him scream or any banging noises. And when investigating how did they not notice the open hole behind the toilet? And like you said, smell a horrid odor. It makes it sound like the prison was shut down the next day.

    This was a fine episode. I liked it very much. I did like how creative it was with how they went with this. I enjoyed the touches such as Jason about to dial 911, only to realize “No, nobody would believe me!”, typically it gets tiresome when a protagonist in horror stories calls the police for help only to not be believed.

    • @JackOfAllNerdsShow
      @JackOfAllNerdsShow  Před měsícem +1

      And, in fact, they use the "police not believing the protagonist" in the very next episode.

    This has nothing to do with the episode. I had to have an eye patch as a child for a severe lazy eye. I think I may need to address it again. I understand it isn't the same. But do you have any advice?

    • @JackOfAllNerdsShow
      @JackOfAllNerdsShow  Před 3 měsíci +3

      Advice on purchasing an eye patch? There are a lot of custom options out there made from a variety of different materials. For maximum comfort, I would choose a material you know won't irritate your skin, get the patch cut that is for the specific eye you need to cover and, if possible, get an adjustable strap.
