  • I've bought the DNM USB-8 inverted double crown forks for their good value and great reviews on sturdiness and functionality. They have rebound, preload and air adjustments as well as a whopping 200mm (8 inches) of travel! Here is a guide to how I installed mine on the enduro ebike frame with some tips and tricks along the way.
    P.S If you're observant from the last video, you'll notice the motor was still in pieces as I did the rewiring and this at the same time so the order got a bit out!
    Main parts used so far:
    Frame - www.alibaba.com/product-detai... (actually bought on ebay from djanowicz but would now recommend www.cloudsto.com/ebikes/frame...)
    3000W Motor - alienpowersystem.com/shop/bru...
    ANT-BMS - www.cloudsto.com/ebikes/bms-1...
    Controller - www.alibaba.com/product-detai... (Try and look for one with adjustable regen connector and motor temp sensor, this one doesn't have those)
    Moto Seat - www.alibaba.com/product-detai... (Again, bought from ebay but this is the style)
    Aluminium 18” Rims - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-...
    DNM USD-8 Forks - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DNM-USD-8-...

    The trick is leave that top fork bracket and handlebar stem loose until you get the steering tube cap torqued/tightened properly to the star nut, then tighten it. That'll make sure you have great steering and no issues going no handed when necessary

      😁Yh I love the look too! Riding is very comfortable on roads but I need to adjust it to make more use of the travel as it's setup for downhill atm. The rebound damping makes a big difference to the feel but haven't even touched the preload or air pressure yet.

    I don't mean to be that 'your doing it wrong' guy but I just wanted to point out that instead of using a wooden plank to bash down the top crown you should use the top cap and spacers, this also allows you to set the correct amount of preload, which can be detrimental to your headset if not done properly

    • @jamesdowrick2712
      @jamesdowrick2712 Před 3 lety

      On a side note, Those DNM forks look the dogs nuts and sound to be pretty good value for money, if you could do a long term review on them after a few months that'd be pretty neat

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  Před 3 lety

      Not at all, good feedback. What is preload exactly and does the force applied on the top affect it or something?

    • @jamesdowrick2712
      @jamesdowrick2712 Před 3 lety

      @@EverythingEbikeChannel Preload is where you apply axial load to either the inner or outer rings of the bearing. In the case of an mtb headset, Preload is applied to the top race/inner ring of both the top and bottom bearings, usually through a compression ring in the case of cartridge bearings, this is needed to ensure there is no play and that the bearings themselves are 'clamped' in place and don't move from their frame race/seating positions. IIRC some sur ron's also use tapered roller bearings, if that is the case preload is vital to ensure proper, smooth rotation with no play, and that no excessive non uniform wear takes place.

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  Před 3 lety

      @@jamesdowrick2712 Ah ok so preload doesn't affect the ride feel, it keeps the stem in place and from being loose in the bearings? I noticed in the spacer bag there was a silver ring with a slot in it, is that used to go around the stem?

    • @jamesdowrick2712
      @jamesdowrick2712 Před 3 lety

      @@EverythingEbikeChannel Yep, it will stop the head tube from moving about in the headset, It can also affect the ride feel to an extent as you can usually hear a rattle and clang and feel the play as you go over bumps. I also just had another look in your video and that silver ring you talked about looks to be the compression ring... I'd recommend you remove everything and get that installed..

      I would say yes. There's plenty of adjustment and the seem very sturdy. There are almost certainly cheaper ones out there with more features but I'd be weary of build quality and reliability. If you're in the UK, the more comfortable the fork the better at the moment!
