Thank you so much! I was afraid of opening myself and now feel like I can do it. People that put this info out for all of us rarely understand how much help you are.
I'm glad you found it useful. It take time and lots of paper towel to clean my hands and turn on and off the camera but when people appreciate it it's all worth it
Yes this video is extremely detailed and easy to follow. Thanks so much !!
@@vegasromaniac Multumim mult de tot, chiar este de apreciat toata munca si efortul depus!
I have been looking for a video like this since the day I bought my surron 3 years ago, thank you!
Happy to be of help
thank you i serviced mine added 10w oil and suspension syndicate 50 per inch solid spring there awesome
Great to hear!
some pretty indepth servicing. you really take care of the details for us viewers. awesome. I hope this video will help many first time front shock owners and not make them scared of cost/complexity. its better to service then to keep riding bad and bouncy and never feel propper dampening.
Very true , but few will ever go as deep as I did .. unfortunately this video will be enjoyed by few
@@vegasromaniac i don't know but your channel has some problems getting recommended by the stupidtube algorithm system. This website is just a shell of what it used to be
@@vegasromaniac so true, but those few that appreciate it really really appreciate it.. I know I do.. Love learning new things. I refuse to pay ppl do things for me. I'd rather do it my self. That way I know it's done correctly.
Love the vid...I was going to take my DNM forks to a bike shop for service, now I don't think I need to! Thanks!
very easy man , very easy
I was thing the same thing
Well detailed thanks :)
Thanks for watching
Thanks man
Great video man! I've been inside the spring side of mine but not on the damper side yet. I upped my spring rate on the spring side with a rock shox boxxer spring, they seem to fit pretty well in there.
Funny I wanted to take some of the springs out of mine , it's too stiff . Haha
@@vegasromaniac You can remove rubber things that are inside springs, it will make fork softer. Bicycle version has only one rubber, they added second one for Sur-Ron to compensate the weight.
Interesting! I have been trying to figure out what springs I can use. What spring rate did you go with and are you happy with it?
Edit: So it looks like the black version is the strongest and it’s called extra firm. I think I will go with this one
i have kke factory bf-34 and it has no air valve inlet, but it claims to be air-oil fork.. it has almost identical construction.. now i am doing first maintenance on it and i am struggling to disassemble the shock inner tube.. it has some kind of sealed shock tube inside the inner leg ... it appears to move smoothly but it has low pressure..is there any way how to add pressure to such system??? i am struggling to find any info anywhere.. thanx 🙏🏻
i love these how-to vids... they have rearly help me alot in the past with my surron.... i was wondering if the dnm's are the same inside as the kke shoks as they look identical to each other and i think the same thing has happed as oil has escaped when i let air out..... all the best from uk 👍🤙
no they are all different , the dnm are not too bad but require a lot of maintenance, if they blow up i wont be to sad , but i will get something else
Great video! Very well explained
Ill be easily able to service my fork. I was searching how to do it because when I adusted my air presure earlier today, oil cam out of the aire valve. Hope nothing is damaged in there. Feel free to tell me what you think is going on with the oil in air chamber.
Yes air escapes thru the seals a bit in that chamber , I've had that happening .. little oil not a problem lots of oil big problem
Random question, If i wanted to take 100mm of travel out of the fork, get a shorter spring and add a spacer in the shock side to limit down travel?
Awesome video, thank you!
So you decided to not add oil, just grease? I have just replaced outer seals on mine with seals for Boxxer 35mm, they fit perfect. They are much better quality and should keep oil inside. It is too cold to ride, so I have not tested properly, but so far legs are clean, no oil leaks.
no need for oil, they leak at the bottom, you can add it but i hate the cleaning part .. ill use thick grease from now on
I know this video is old but it has gave me a lot off info I need at the minute… my forks basically loosing air the forks have done 200 miles if that no harsh riding… I took the forks off today the spring side is fine my other side is loosing air fast if I put it by hand it’s fine when it’s under compression on the bike it’s lasting 5 minutes then the air is gone I’m puzzled and planning on opening them tomorrow hopefully there is no damage and is just my valve any ideas feel free to help any help welcome
Does the dnm and the kke fork share the same axle ?
How much air pressure do they take
What are the dimensions for the dust o orings?
is this a boost fork?
I cant put air in my fork and when i try is leaking oil i am very scared to do what you do but you explained it very wel plz help
❤from Amsterdam
👍
good video, thanks! But if I fill up the oil completely (damping) then I can no longer use the entire suspension travel?
Incorrect. That is what the piston is for that he pushed to the very bottom with the red rod. It's a compensator piston that is free floating in that damper tube. He wasn't clear enough about the actual arrangement. It's at 2:30 The schrader valve screws into the black tube, which goes to the end of the damper tube, and is fixed to the damper tube. Inside the damper tube is the compensator piston. When you add air it goes between the compensator piston and the bottom of the damper tube. The key is that when you assemble everything (we're at the top of the fork now) you need to push the damper piston (different from the compensator piston, it's the one that has the shims on it) all the way down before you screw it all together onto the damper tube. 5:56 He is doing it but not telling you how critical it is. The fork top cap is pushed down against the damper tube cap before he screws the damper tube cap onto the damper tube. IF he had the fork top cap up and extended away from the damper tube cap as he screwed it all together THAT is when you would get the hydrolock condition. Video is helpful but he's going super quick and not explaining the full architecture of the fork nor the improper ways to assemble it.
I am 90% sure I am correct in my understanding. I have not opened this DNM fork myself, but I have opened at least a handful of other forks (bicycle and motorcycle) over the years and have made sure I understand the fluid flow and operation on every single one.
Hi friend. Why is there only oil on one side? Does the side with springs not need oil? Only grease? Thanks
Spring needs just grease
@@vegasromaniac okay thanks. Do you know if KKE forks are similar to service?
Wish you saw how to clean and how much grease and type of grease to use. Some of us don't know these infomation. Thank you.
+1, this is quite important.
How do you know which fork oil weight to use? Saw you used 5wt. Is that a middle ground weight oil? I'm looking for oil that doest bottom out my forks and has a good lateral travel.
I used thats becauee i had it left over from fixing my dirtbikes ..
I used thats becauee i had it left over from fixing my dirtbikes ..
@@vegasromaniac lol. Is 5wt a heavy oil? How do you like it on your dirt bikes?
@@joelresto.juuntitledgtuu4i435 5wt is the minimal weight you would use in a fork. If you go to Charged Cycles they do upgrades for this fork and use slightly heavier 7.5wt oil if you choose to use a heavier spring rate.
What kind of grease did you use?
any grease works, i used whatever i had , and i had to clue what i had most likely bearing grease
I follow the instructions for the oil side of the fork and now that I am done it is retracted and it does not want to extend without me pulling hard on it. Does anyone know if I did something wrong and if so what?
I know , you didn't push the valve at the bottom out before you or the oil in and added air .. you need to do it in that exact same way
Did you fix in the end? I was going to say maybe you had the rebound all the way in.
Is it pretty much the same thing for stock kke surron forks?
Spring side was full of red grease around the springs. Apart from that I didn't spot any difference.
Can't comment on the other side yet, disassembly will be tomorrow.
How much fork oil do these forks use ? :)
About 200ml, you fill to the top
Still a good fix? My face ace forks have a lot of stiction too.
Stiction sucks ...I hate it...yeah they still work
Where can I buy that suspension I've been looking for but no place is reliable or safe to buy it 😢
Ebay
So what was wrong with the internal piston?? You were about to check it out then you just skipped it and went straight into reassembling it?
Nothing wrong just dry
No spring in those forks eh huh
Only in one side
